FIBA-Asia '11 East Asia Qualifier [Jun 8-15 China]
Hello guys, excluding China (since they are the host), how many team nation will qualify for FIBA - ASIA on this region.
thanks
Because of Japan's 2nd place finish of last year's FIBA Asia Stankovic Cup, 3 teams from East Asia will have the opportunity to compete in the Asian Championships.
Statistics Wish List:
1990 Asian Games -in Beijing, CHN
1991 Pan Am Games -in Havana, CUB
1991 South American Championships -in Valencia, VEN
1991 Oceania Championship -in NZ
1991 Asian Basketball Championship -in Kobe, JPN
1992 African Basketball Championship -in Cairo, EGY
1992 Euro Olympic Basketball Tournament -in Spain
China and Japan already qualified, leaving Korea and Chinese Taipei to claim the last 2 spots. The only purpose of this tournament is for the certain players on China NT (Sun Yue, Zhu Fangyu) to serve their suspensions as this is FIBA-sanctioned tournament. If history is an indication, Korea will not send their full squad here, or if they did, will not play the main players long minutes against China.

I think Japan still not qualified yet, because the host is now change to China. Only the Lebanons qualifield as they claim the championship from last year's stankovic cup, and Janpanese earns one more spot for east asia.
However i Believe they can still beat Hong Kong to qualify to the Asian Championship game, Korean and Taiwan will qualify as well.

Japan didn't qualify yet.they were 2nd in stankovic cup. They were qualified when the tournement was scheduled to be played in lebanon. But now the tournement is set to be played in china, lebanon 1st ranked team in stankovic cup qualified to the asian championship.
Head coach Hur Jae had named his twelve players for the competition, but Hur also said that the roster can still change in three weeks time depending on injuries or his personal decision on player replacement. So this lineup initially is subject to change.
