  • andrew gaze australian all-stars tour of china

has anybody got any details of the andrew gaze all-star team that is presently touring china. i know a number of Australian NBL players are playing and wondered if there was any details or box-scores available of games they play. the tour runs for about 10 days from May 29. I know the first two games are against a Brian Goorjian-coached side.

I think this post is better placed in Australian thread or Chinese . [Moved. rikhardur]
Actually the first game of Gaze's team just finished.Gaze wins against Goorjian's team which is honestly a youth team of Dongguan Leopards.
    I forget the score,but it was a big margin,almost 20pts, victory. Congratulations!

        (I don't know where Q1 is)

Darren Ng has been in China a couple times and clearly the fan favorite

Finished watching. Nothing stands out really. As have been mentioned, this is mostly young players from Dongguan Leopards, although some have up to 2 years of CBA experience. Goorjian also rotated a lot of players. I thought they did OK considering their experience. The Aussies have some youngsters, like that kid Jason Cadee who doesn't look more than 20 years old. Both teams used full court press most of the game but thankfully the game wasn't a turnover disaster. Aussies have problems defending fast breaks while Dongguan youngsters have huge problems defending baseline and backdoor cuts, which the Aussies executed so well.

#15 Sun Zhe and #22 Li Muhao are the 2 young mobile 7-footers from Dongguan and I think Goorjian likes them a lot, calling out their names from the sidelines and whatnot. At the present they both suck. Sun is considered to be less talented but is slightly better at the moment, having one CBA season under his belt. I don't think they got enough touches despite playing a lot of time, but when they did the shots they put up are so awkward which makes me wonder who the heck trained them all this time. (Goorjian?) I believe Li Muhao is not suitable to play 5, he should learn to play 4 on offense -- but he won't get much PT in real games unless he significantly improves his rebounding techniques.

Dongguan's best player in the game is #20 He Zhongmian, whom I believe will one day be in the China NT. #52 Chen Hsin-an from Taiwan, the oldest Dongguan player to suit up, also seems to have some gas left in his tank. The rest are marginal CBA players.
