  • Top-Five Up-and-Coming International NBA Players

The criteria is that the international player isn't over 30 years old in and hasn't played in an all-star game. So, who are your top-five most promising NBA International Players?

Here's my list in the order of likelihood:

    1. Andres Nocioni, Argentina
    2. Darko Milicic, SM
    3. Luol Deng, Sudan/England
    4. Nenad Krstic, SM
    5. Andrew Bogut, Australia

I think even Diop (Senegal) is ahead of him

    1. Mehmet Okur
    2. Hedo Turkoglu
    3. Rasho Nesterovic
    4. Boris Diaw
    5. Marko Jaric

    LOL, 30 is too old...

I like him at number 2. He proved his skills at the end of the season.

Stuart, I think the criteria should be "under 24." IMO players like Nesterovic, Turkoglu, and Nocioni have established themselves already. So, I'm gonna' go for "under 24." Here's my list:

      1. Andrew Bogut - tough and versatile
      2. Luol Deng - just a fiesty, energetic player
      3. Sasha Vujacic - low numbers, great energy
      4. Francisco Garcia - high flying, smart decision maker
      5. Viktor Khryapa - good all around game

Yep, I think he showed enough promise with his limited time with Orlando this season. Plus he is 21 years old. He has plenty of time and upside. On the other hand, Rasho Nesterovic?!

Crap, I forgot about those two. Memo would have been #3 on my list. He showed great skill this season, but as far as potential goes, I think Nocioni and Milicic will both eventually pass Memo. And Diaw would have been #5 pushing Krstic off the list.

It'll be great if he'd be able to play for the Dominican Republic national team.

He's been on an all-star team, so he doesn't qualify.

what hes doing in the playoffs? 22.8 ppg and
                      9th in scoring.

                        Nocioni
                        Diaw
                        Deng
                        Okur
                        "Samba" Varejao.

I don't like the "Not an All Star" restriction. How about Yao, Pau or Kirilenko? I think they still can improve a lot

I agree, I think Yao has a huge upside and Pau and Tony Parker are finally hitting his stride. However, if one makes the all-star team, it somewhat means they're no longer "up-and-coming" anymore, they've been recognized by fans and/or coaches.

Anyways, I think the lists would pretty much look the same with Yao and Pau and Tony Parker making the list the majority of the time. This way we get more obscure international players on the list.

Vujacic - I hope, Lakers need a pair of good guards and Smush and Shasha must improve ther play. They're still young players, but next year they should be important players in LA.
