Motiejunas said "naujokas padės Woltersui". That means Wolters will be our main guy.

Missed this interview, but if he said so, might be that Wolters is seen as main guy. Anyway, if they were looking at Goss too, I'd really have doubts who'd be a starter. We'll see who'll club sign. Now with additional money out of Hartenstein buy-out, maybe club could dedicate some part of it in search of PG

I think, that Hartestein buyout was included in the upcoming budget and that won't affect the last addition. However, I doubt, than that money would change much, because at this time, there are not much left and we can get almost any leftovers with current money (about 300k), I mean any NBA G league player, NBA shitty player or any Europes no name. Although, there are some quite good options - Westermann, Adams, Rochestie etc.

I'm not into NBA too much, but for me Hartenstein signing with Houston was a bit of surprise. I even forgot we had such option to get addition cash. Don't know, maybe Motiejunas knew smth more, but how could he. Nobody really talked about it till it happened. Regarding player, with some extra money we exactly can go up from some no name as you say to these better options

Last year in interview Motiejunas said, that if not this (2017) then next year they will get the buyout for Hartestein. I can remember that clearly. I never forgot about him and was waiting for him to be signed, that had to happen 100%. And I had in mind, that with 300k we can sign Leo or Adams or Rochestie, because it is EL, and there are not much seats left in EL teams. If Leo or Adams signs, I am confident in our roster. We may be even better than last year, because there are more creators, more offensive potential and our front court is understanding what we want from them. I said that we will be good in last season, and no body believed me. This year will be interesting, but we need the same luck, like last season (no injuries, and good opponent at Top8). We will reach the playoffs, no matter the last signing.

It wasn't 100% for sure. If Houston wouldn't be interested, why they should've to pay any buy-out? It was only an option if Hartenstein would've signed with NBA team and that surely was not a lock. We were lucky he finally signed there

Good aquistion for Zalgiris, reimbursement fragility on point guards .

Not sure about Westermann choice. He is a system player and Zalgiris basically has all 5 guards which are complete system players, maybe with exception of Wolters who is individually strongest guard Zalgiris has. Obviously there are advantages, but some-one with more expressed scoring abilities would be much more handful, IMO. In final 4 Zalgiris lacked players who can make buckets at extreme heat. Leo is not that type of a player.

And Jasikevicius is pure system coach. He wants players who can fit into his system, not some individual mavericks. We had trouble to score against Fenerbache because they had stronger and taller team comparing to us, imo. We fixed it in this season's team. Now let's wait and look how old and new guys will gel.

To win finals you need exceptional individual talent also. And it shouldn't even be some lame chucker. Remember Siskauskas, or the same Jasikevicius. They were perfect system players, but also had that quality to pay big in clutch. It's good situation anyway.

You need too pay big money for this kind of players. Also it's tough to find them. I didn't see any in current market. Maybe Williams-Goss could have been that player, but he chose other team. Other than that PG market was very dry.

Zalgiris players salaries for the upcoming season:
Kavaliauskas 19k per month
Walkup 21,5k per month
Westermann 28k per month
Wolters 31k per month
Grigonis 32k per month
Milaknis 33k per month
White 34k per month
Jankūnas 47,5k per month
Davies 49k per month
Ulanovas 50k per month
Šaras 85k per month

10k per month means around 100k per year.
Also, Birutis, Sabeckis are earning less than 70k per year.

Must be noted that these are not official numbers, just guesses from one journalist. Our GM during last few seasons said couple of times that some of these numbers posted in press are far from reality, some are accurate enough, so let's not take it for granted ;)

What do you guys think about the addition of Derrick Walton to the team? I will myself wait a little to judge because I don't know him at all, but I was actually a little surprised that Žalgiris signed another point guard.

I don't know him either, but one thing is sure that Zalgiris needed another guard with his characteristics. It seems that he can shoot, last couple of seasons he averaged ~40% from beyond the arc with ~6 triples attempted per game, that's really good number. And that's what we were lacking as we don't have reliable shooters at PG. Judging by the videos, he has also creativity in him, can pass the ball well. Now we might have 3 reliable PGs like previous season with Pangos, Micic and Udrih. Obviously Sabeckis can't handle EL level thus far and maybe won't

Getting 5s per game does not help to prove oneself. Looking from Sabeckis point of view it's a dick move by the club.

Maybe there's a reason why he didn't get more, don't you think? I guess for coaches it's way better to see who is who and what player is capable of or ready for, there were plenty of practices, plenty of time to prove your worth. And no way it's some sort of dick move, if you can't play the way you were expecting to, so who's to blame? Club surely shouldn't wait forever for that to happen. I'm sure that Sabeckis on his own knew where his is heading and what to expect, including this

No, I don't think so. The way I see this is that the player has dominated LKL, yet now gets no chances to play in the league anymore (or Euroleage for that matter). That sounds incorrect. What I do think is that Žalgiris went into a panic mode (as they had only one PG), signed a player to fill the gaps and now wants to (potentially) get rid of him while the season is barely started (alternatively benching him with little to no hopes for getting playing time). In my book that's the definition of a dick move.

Šaras just said in the interview, that nobody will be loaned out. Sabeckis stays. He needs a big squad, that everybody would be fresh at the end of the season. He also said, that they watched closely and analyzed Walton since the summer.

Watched the interview. The coach thinks that Jokūbaitis should get playing time in LKL as well. Endless opportunities...
