I realize this thread should perhaps been created earlier but the idea never crossed my mind until today. I ask the mod. team to close the thread tomorrow before the first games if possible.

The thread puts it simply and plain. Commentators can choose to either adress 1,2 or 3 names of the players the believe will be most profilic at this event or alternatively offer the readers a somewhat more sophisticated explanation why they think certain players are likely to be MVP/s.

My personal view:

Vasilis Spanoulis

Follow up 1:
Roko Leni Ukic

Follow up 2:
Tony Parker

I figure that Pau Gasol might have problems in attaining this award due to sharing the minutes with the equally dangerous brother of his. Otherwise I would place him on the second spot.

wow:eek: ukic as mvp:eek: well i would love to see that, but let's not overreate him after his first good tournament. or you are joking with us?:D

I am completely sincere. I see Ukic as the greatest offensive guard from Europe along with Fernandez (EDIT:at this tournament). He was a tremendous talent before, now that talent is indeed flourishing. I think he will expericence a true break-out year in the NBA next this season if given proper means to do so.

Unfortunately it passed my mind that FIBA revised the MVP rules so that exclusively a player of the winning team may become tournament MVP.
Due to my medal-predictions, i am forced switching places between Ukic and Spanoulis.

As I'm thinking Spain will finally win EC, it will be Pau Gasol or Rudy Fernandez (if I'd be forced to choose, my vote would go for Pau). Atleast I expect to see both of them in Eurobasket's 1st team after the tournament, along with them might be T.Parker and some other two guys from top 4 teams (candidates: L.Kleiza, E.Lorbek, R.Ukic, V.Spanoulis...).

.
offtopic:
that may well happen..
Remon Session will probably leave the Bucks to T-Wolves..
which leaves Ridnour, Jennings and Ukić as PG's..
he could be playing a lot more then in Toronto..

I think Juan Carlos Navarro, Best five

Parker Navarro Nachbar P.Gasol Boroussis

With Spain most likely to win the event, i think it will be either Pau Gasol or Navarro.

Parker, Turkoglu and Ukic have an outside chance if thier teams do well. Greece and Lithuania have very even roster so i think neither Spanoulis nor Kleiza will separate themselves from the rest of the team.

Macvan (beting on serbia for gold and on a disappointing velikovic)

Tournament 5
rubio - tepic - batum - macvan - lavrinovic (k)

Scola won the MVP of FIBA Americas and his team finished in third place.

I'm not sure. But most likely candidates for me would be Juan Carlos Navarro, Pau Gasol, Vassilis Spanoulis. Some other candidates are probably guys like Linas Kleiza, Milenko Tepic, Zoran Planinic, Rudy Fernandez, Yannis Bourousis, etc.

I'm thinking the most likely candidates though are guys like Navarro, Pau, Spanoulis so I will choose them for my three.

This is the right one, except for the spelling. My computer/connetion lagged a lot during typing.

EDIT: "Lorbek" refers to Erazem Lorbek and noting else.

[Threads merged and "E." added to Lorbek's name in the poll. rikhardur]

Nobody speaks here about Veličković... I'm betting on him.:p

Los otros are Pau Gasol, Navarro and maybe Hedo, if he can get a grip on himself.
