On injuries front, it's a sprained ankle confirmed for Leticia Romero (FSU), while Baylor's Alexis Prince suffered a torn lateral meniscus, i.e. approx. one month out

Tennessee Lady Vols still unbeaten, but had tough game vs Syracuse, winning just 57-55, thanks to their bigs. Bashaara Graves again led the team with a double-double, while Diamond DeShields continues struggling offensively (she went scoreless in 20').

Kelsey Plum of Washington scored 32 pts, leading her team over Fesno St and hitting 10 FG on 13 attempts, but was 0/4 beyond the arc.

Impressive season start of two young bigs, Nebraska freshman Jessica Shepard recorded her third consecutive double-double, while Illini soph Chatrice White scored 26 in yesterday game. Both are leading their teams with over 20 ppg. White won the U19 world title last summer in Russia, while Shepard wasn't with the team just because still recovering from ACL injury.

Deceiving season start of #16 ranked (but winless) Louisville, that fell vs unranked Western Kentucky. Highly touted freshmen Asia Durr and Taja Cole combined for just 12 pts.

More freshmen with outstanding season debut.

North Carolina guard Destinee Walker scored yesterday 26 pts on 10/13 FG shooting (and 5/6 FG3) and Washington State fw Borislava Hristova (Bul) is the team current scoring leader with nearly 20 ppg. Walker too leads shorthanded UNC with 18.4 ppg after 5 games.

Both players have already proved their skills at international level. Walker won gold with US-team at the 2014 U18 Fiba Americas showing up as one of the team's best guards and participated to the 2015 U19 WC trials, but for some reason wasn't selected.

Hristova has an impressive record at youth level in Europe, as she was named MVP at the 2011 U16 and 2013 U18 Div. B championships, and averaged 23.7ppg for Bulgaria finishing 7th at the 2015 U20 Div. B Euro tournament. She was rated #1 international recruit for this season by NetScouts review.

South Carolina stayed unbeaten but struggled to beat UCLA, head coach Staley stating her team hasn't found its identity yet. Another talented team Duke (3-1) also showed not to be in top condition winning over Army 72-61, after trailing at ht. U19 world champ Azurà Stevens led Duke with a huge performance, 32 pts (on 14/18 FG shooting) and 14 reb.

Another amazing performance came from freshman guard Sophie Cunningham of Missouri, who recorded 42 pts (on 13/18 FG shooting and 6 threes) in a 94-81 victory over Wake Forest.

Duke's graduate student Amber Henson will take an indefinite leave of absence from the team. A fine athletic fw, Henson was a highly ranked recruit in 2011 and three-time Parade All-American but had her collegiate career disrupted by knee injuries & surgery. She was a member of the 3x3 2010 US team that won bronze at the first Youth Olympics (together with Briyona Canty, Andraya Carter and Kiah Stokes).

Freshman Marina Mabrey recorded a triple-double, 18 pts, 10 assists and 12 steals, in Notre Dame's easy win over Valaparaiso. Marina plays with older sister Michaela and was named co-MVP at the McDonald's All-American game, together with Tennessee Te'a Cooper.

Sr guard Brittney Martin led Oklahoma St over Missouri St with an outstanding 35 pts and 14 reb, her career-high, with a perfect 9/9 from the line.

Congrats to Geno Auriemma who 30 years ago made his debut as head coach at UConn!

Another newcomer, 2 m center Teaira McCowan of unbeaten Mississippi St scored 20 pts (on 9/12 FG shooting) and grabbed 11 reb in an easy win over Norfolk St. McCowan was a member of the USA U18 team at the 2014 Fiba Americas.

Courtney Williams and Courtney Walker combined for 50 pts in Texas A&M win over California, 75-58.

Jonquel Jones finished with more rebounds (26) than points (23) on George Washington 2OT win over Iowa. Jones also had 4 bs.

Louisville finally recorded its first win after a disappointing season's start.

Impressive win of UConn over Nebraska, 88-46, with the Huskies connecting for 55% FG. Breanna Stewart nearly perfect with 25 pts (3/4 FG3, 7/7 FG2 and 2/2 FT), 10 reb and 3 blocks. Cornhuskers leading scorer, freshman Jessica Shepard held to 10 pts.

Ohio State's supersoph Kelsey Mitchell tied the school's scoring record (held by Sam Prahalis since 2011) with 42, hitting 15/16 FT. Buckeyes prevailed over strong Texas A&M 95-80.

Kelsey Plum scored her third 30+performance leading Washington over Texas Tech with a 34 pts effort.

Top-10 ranked Louisville lost vs Dayton and is now 1-4. Cardinals top recruit Asia Durr dnp lately (she's played two games for 19 points) and is reported to possibly redshirt this season to recover form previous injury.

In another disappointing performance Tennessee lost to Texas 64-53, despite 24 pts and 10 reb from Diamond DeShields. Texas was led by freshman Lashan Higgs with 18 pts.

Senior Jillian Alleyne scored 26 pts (12/17 FG) and grabbed 20 reb in Oregon win over San Jose State, 104-74. Ducks soph guard Lexi Bando, a 2014 McDonald's All-American nominee, was game's high scorer with 35 pts (and 6/7 FG3).

Notre Dame currently dealing with injured post players Brianna Turner and Taya Reimer. Talented soph Turner injured her shoulder in practice and is currently out, she's under evaluation for a possible surgery. It's the same shoulder she already injured during last season. Reimer is suffering from Achilles heel problems and she too is under medical evaluation.

Big Azura Stevens scored her 5th double-double leading Duke with 26 pts and 11 reb past Minnesota, 84-64.

Asia Durr unexpectedly was back in action for Louisville vs Michigan State, and she co-led the Cardinals to victory with 20 pts (with 3/4 FG3 shooting) together with Mariya Moore. Aerial Powers, the 2015 WUG gold medal and MVP, led the Spartans with 21.

Despite missing Brianna Turner and Taya Reimer, Notre Dame was able to keep the game close with Connecticut in the first half, and finally losing 91-81. Both teams had impressive offensive output, Notre Dame hitting 65% of threes, UConn with 52.4% overall FG shooting. Breanna Stewart led the way with a 28+10 double-double, Morgan Tuck had 21 pts and 8 assists, while Irish freshman Marina Mabrey scored a career-high 23 pts and was perfect beyond the arc, 3/3. Other Irish ended with 3-threes, Michaela Mabrey, Madison Cable and Arike Ogunbowale.

Freshman Kristine Anigwe scored 27 pts and grabbed 12 rebounds for California, but Golden Bears were upset by St. Mary's 64-63.

Awesome game of Kristine Anigwe who scored 43 pts (on 18/24 FG shooting), her own and California's record, and grabbed 12 rebounds in a win vs Sacramento St 117-99. Golden Bears shot almost 70% of their FG.

A'ja WIlson had a dominant performance of 28 pts, 11 reb and 3 bs leading South Carolina over Duke, 66-55.

Tennesse upset by Virginia Tech in home game, 57-43, after yet another disappointing performance. Import players Vanessa Panousis of Australia and Regan Magarity of Sweden led Hokies with 21 and 13 points.

Seniors Breanna Stewart and Moriah Jefferson are the stars but junior Morgan Tuck looks as the difference-maker for #1 UConn.
Here an ESPN read on this special player.

Maryland continues to roll over opponents (though mostly unranked) and is now 10-0. Juniors Shatori Walker-Kimbrough and Brionna Jones are the Terps current leaders. Both have earned international experience with USA teams last summer, Walker-Kimbrough at Pan Am games and Jones at WUG.

Freshman Kristine Anigwe was again hot, as she yesterday led California to an OT win over Nebraska with 29 pts and 10 reb. Other highly-touted freshman Jessica Shepard of Nebraska, in fouls trouble, was held to 6 pts.

South Carolina (9-0) and Baylor (10-0) continue undefeated after easy wins over Winthrop and McNeese St.
Gamecocks had the opportunity to rest A'ja Wilson and center Alaina Coates shined with a triple-double (29 pts on 13/15 FG shooting, 16 reb and 10 blocks).
Lady Bears scored 105, with freshman post Kalani Brown going for 24 (10/11 FG) and Fw Beatrice Mompremier, another rookie, with 15 pts and 13 reb. Amazing performance from senior Niya Johnson, who finsihed with 19 assists (a school record) and 10 reb. Johnson leads the nation in apg department.
Mississippi State soph Victoria Vivians scored a career-high 36 pts (28 in the 1st half), confirming her scoring ability from HS times when she finished her senior season as the national top scorer with 46.2 ppg.

Yet another freshman in the spotlight, as relatively unknown guard Torri Lewis scored a career-high 36 pts leading Ole Miss past New Orleans 97-59, and hitting as may as 10 threes.

Oklahoma State is still unbeaten (8-0) after winning over shorthanded North Carolina, 77-67. Senior Brittney Martin scored her third consecutive double-double, 24 pts and 17 reb (her season's high).
