exactly. The utlimate favourite who had blinded everyone with its amazing perfomances all tournament long.

irony? nice.

still, france isn't russia. russian NT is always capable of playing some good tournament bball.

plus, the french NT lacks, deeply lacks, 3 point shooting.

if they win this tournament with those miserable percentages from behind the arc, I'll tip my hat off to them.

I can easily predict the top-6 teams of this tournament but really hard to say in wich order. So here are my predictions for the best six teams in random order...

1. Greece (random eh? :p)
2.Turkey
3.Slovenia
4.Serbia
5.Spain
6.France

1.Many new players and only one star...Vassilis Spanoulis.Lot of offensive and defensive weapons though.
2.Stronger than ever before seems to be ready for the top of Europe
3.The most "solid" team (together with Greece) so far.
4.The most talented team but not ready (yet) for the gold.
5.The big favourite before the games. The team with the most quality(by far)
6.Very athletic reminds me a european copy of the usa team but no so good in scoring.

p.s. Somehow I give no chance to Croatia . It looks like a very "tired" team to me.

after today's game, we can't underestimate the heart of the champions. slice win agains croatia, now against greece. they have good chances to be in top6, maybe in the semis, if they get turkey slovenia or serbia, they can beat any of it.

I wonder if anyone with good stats database can let us know the following:
Did a team ever has won the EB undefeated?
Did any team ever has won the EB with two defeats?
Did any team ever has won the EB with three defeats?

Serbia (known as Serbia& Montenegro) won EB in Turkey ( 2001) without defeat, and only one match was not +10 for Serbs ( final game against Turkey, I think it was + 9 ).

1. Greece
2. Turkey
3. Spain
4. Slovenia/France

I wish my second favorite team Lithuania can have a decent finish in this tournament.

Lithuania all three championships won without any defeat.
in 1937 5-0
in 1939 7-0
in 2003 6-0

Yea it was Serbia in 2001 that has won without any defeat in 2003 Lithuania did it, too, but things were different then, after one group you would get to elemination games right away.

I voted for Spain. Their quality is unparalleled and they're bound to hit some kind of form.

I kinda hope it's gonna be Slovenia though. After years of underachieving, it's now or never I think, they won't find this kind of opportunity again. Plus, they're playing some seriously sexy bball at times.

Oh, and Greece of course. Wishful thinking more than belief tho.

Thanks to all, I am quite interested to know as well if any team won the Euro with2-3 defeats?

I think Italy did...

edit: yup in 1999 Italy won gold after losing to Croatia and Lithuania, just as Germany in 1993 after losing vs. France and Croatia

Other WC qualifiers: Slovenia, France, Serbia (and Russia)

If Greece gets a medal, I would be extremely happy. :)

Very hard though... not that we are crap, but we got 4 very tough games ahead. :)
