Well, I want to go to Izmir.. But I need to know exactly how do you expect as overall one package from hotel accommodation (3stars 4stars 5stars)//Tickets for the first round//second//quarter final//
Does anyone s having a clear view?
Tell us please your thoughts of the French team?:)

Cypriots are kind of not allowed in Turkey.
They allow them on guided tours now at least (not that many want to go there)

I wish this was in Greece or Italy :)

As far as i know you can come to Turkey without visa, if you really want to come, you can come also via Greece by tours, or directly can come to the championship...

If only it was Istanbul..

If only it was Istanbul..

Unfortunately I wont be attending the tournament. Ankara is a bit too far for me and a city I dont really feel comfrotable going. If it was Istanbul I would definately attend. I have been there like 10 times already. Love the city.
I suppose that is why the organisers chose Ankara in the first stage..

I'd say Ankara is an alright city with lots of students (8-10 universities). It's a bit dull, but nothing to make you uncomfortable imo (as long as you don't mind hitch-hikers with axes).

I hopefully will be heading to Izmir, Turkey on the 28th of August and be staying there till 3rd of September after which i will be heading to Istanbul and staying there till the 9th of September.
(all that's left for me is finalizing my hotel accomodation)

I bought Zone 1 tickets from FIBA website (through bilitex) yesterday afternoon for all of the Group D games in Izmir as well as Zone 3 tickets (zone 1 and 2 already fully sold out) for all the second round matches and 1 Zone 4 ticket (all zone 1,2,3 tickets sold out) for the Quarterfinal games on Sepetember 8.

The tickets for the 2nd day of the quarterfinal are already all fully sold out as well as the semis and finals (also I just checked and found out that the first day tickets for the quarterfinals just has zone 5 tickets left so i'm lucky that I got zone 4 tickets).

For all those going to be in Izmir and/or Istanbul during these dates PM me. It would be really nice if we could meet up :)

Tesekkurler (I have to start brushing up on my Turkish )

and the cost of all this? (if you don't mind)

No problem re file :)
It was 485 Euros (including service and courrier charge).
The problem though is that they charge u in Turkish liras and as u may know the fluctuation of the Turkish lira is amazing  (I lost 35 euros in the process , so actual total cost was exactly 520 Euros (I just verified this from my bank account)
The major issue is I hope I can receive the tickets on time before the 28th or else i'm screwed big time (megalo paketo :D).
They do mention that if u purchase tickets after July 15th it takes 5 business working days for the delivery of the tickets so I hope that they are honest in this regards.

500 euros including hotel?

This is just the cost of the tickets of the games :D
(Not including either hotel nor airplane ticket).

U can't compare. My air ticket is going to cost me around 620 Euros since i'm flying from UAE and there are no direct flights to Izmir. I will have to transit in Istanbul for an hour before taking another flight to Izmir.

As for the hotel reservation i'm still waiting for the travel agency to get me the final rates of the hotels and i'll choose the most appropriate one accordingly.

Dany I thought about it but in Zone 1 i'm really close to the court and the players (depending on the days my seats range from 4th row to 10th row) so I hope I can at least talk with them or shout something to them and they would probably hear me :D
I'm also hoping that it would be easier for me to get a few pics with the players as well (both from Lebanese as well as opposing NT's).

I will just stay at the comfort of my house and pay the live feed from my cable operator. Lol. :D

FIBA.com is holding a contest called "Why Basketball?" on a survey form. 2 Lucky Winners get a chance to fly to Turkey, complete and all expenses paid.
