Why so many votes for France?

Personally I don't like the fact that more than half of them are not french. Not fair again. Not all countries had their colonies to import players from

The French always have to import other players... It's a well known fact.

I hate Spain because of Ricky. I even know some Spaniards who hate him as much as I do.

edit: I love Spain as a country. It's just that I hate their bball team.

Can't help but wonder if this question was asked to troll against the US. But then again, it is WC time, so why should I be surprised. Hey, at least Spain came second to us again!

To be fair the Euros hate Spain just as much as the US, and the Greeks probably hate them more :D

Can't say that I hope anyone fails, Spain and Greece can win every other game as far as I'm concerned, so long as they lose to the US. :p

Fair enough. I won't argue that it narrows down to blatant anti-US attitudes. A lot of it comes from the desire to want the favorite (or in this case, co-favorite) to lose. After being on this site the last 6 years, this seems mild.

Without doubt, USA. I wanna see their big ego falling before even the semifinal, just to see their faces after a big lose.

Here we go again with the "big ego" talk. Folks should probably get to know the team a little better before throwing out generalizations based on the 12 guys from the Olympic squad. If Kevin Durant and Derrick Rose are overly egotistical than Darko's hair looks better bleached.

It was Lamar Odom who said Spain should be the favorites anyways. Don't confuse ego with confidence. And would you ever want your athletes to lack confidence?

Any particular reason for the anti-Ricky-ness? I've never come across anyone who didn't think he was handling all the pressure with poise.

I will say that the pre-draft build-up and summer long drama were childish and unnecessary, but I'm willing to chalk that up to his agent and circle of advisors. Anyways, interested to hear your answer.

Peace.

It was a close call between US and Spain, but US had rondo and spain had gasol, so definitely spain.

And that's also for the 300 years of you know what.

It is his attitude off the court mostly. Watch a couple of interviews in Spanish and English. Very egoistic, arrogant, he thinks he's godsend. And I do not like him being compared to Pete Maravich. When Pete was his age, he was averaging 44ppg, when there were no three lines.
And concerning him being a clutch player, let's just wait and see how he will deal with it without Gasol in Turkey. Gasol is a beast, while Ricky is still just a spoiled kid.

Go say to them they're not French. They would smash your face to pieces!

Colour is nothing, heart is everything.

i think it's because they are curentley better then them, same as usa

France : Because I don't like their style of play.

Greece : Because of their loby in FIBA

USA : Because they are the strongest :)

You're lying, and you know it. Ricky being arrogant? Saying that, it's clear that you don't know Ricky and you've never seen him talking in an interview. What if you quote some of those interviews where Ricky is supposed to be arrogant?

I'll quote this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gSn9B79gi0

07.41.

"I think people always exaggerates with me, I'm not worth that much of attention. Sometimes I wish people didn't say anything and only time could tell what I'd become. Because maybe I won't get to be what people expect me to be and they'll be dissapointed even if I've had a great carreer. Sometimes I think I'm not worth it, sometimes I think maybe I am..."

Wow, that's really arrogant, huh?

Ricky is ALWAYS humble and nice to everybody. It's not that we spaniards hate him. That's what happens with all genious: you gotta love him or hate him. Spaniards always hate on Gasol, Rafa Nadal, Fernando Alonso... It's just envy. I know it's sad, but that's how it is.

TOP-5 things that can happen in the WC:

1) Greece wins gold
2) Greece beats Spain
3) Spain and Team USA are out before the SF
4) Spain or Team USA are out before the SF
5) Spain and Team USA are DQF from the WC because they miss the plane :D
Yes, but tell us how you really feel, Gyro. :D :D

In the past, I probably would've voted that I want to see our team lose. I usually support the underdog. But this year, I don't know. I like the team. I think Durant is a great young man and Chauncy Billups always hustles. This team cannot really on the sexiness that the Redeem Team had. They're going to build their own identity.

They're the favorites, I think, but I still like them.

Youch!
