What a change of fortune for this man... from being on the verge of being cut from the team and having multiple injuries, Herrmann has been on a killer run as of late... another great night last night with 21 points, 8-11 from the field and 4-5 from three... and not much else :P

More 20 pts + 9 rebs (+ 2 steals + 1 block) as the Bobcats beat the Wizards.

Herrmann played a huge role in Charlotte's defeat of Miami, also known as Dwyane Wade's return...

From Charlotte Observer ...the first was the psychological boost the defending champion Heat got from the return of star guard Dwyane Wade, who played his first game since dislocating his left shoulder in February.

The second was some faulty time management by the Bobcats, who could have sealed the win in regulation -- leading 92-91 -- if not for a shot-clock violation.

After the Heat (42-35) got the ball back with six seconds left, Charlotte's Raymond Felton fouled Wade.

But Wade, whose rusty game was most apparent at the free-throw line (he was 6-of-12), missed one, then made one, sending the contest into overtime.

From there, rookie Walter Herrmann, Charlotte's Argentinian revelation of recent weeks, took over. He drained three 3-pointers in overtime, shots Miami could not overcome... more

that guy's crazy

He had a article in Basketnews since he is exploding... But, it's not quite a surprise for me he steped up that way, he just have the time to play now...
Already, acb.com described him as a athletic guy, not that good in defense. Charlotte consider him as a good defender... sic

ARG - Herrmann happy to be a Bobcat
BUENOS AIRES (NBA) - Argentina star Walter Herrmann has revealed he wants to stay at the Charlotte Bobcats for at least another year.

Having made the move to the NBA from Spanish team Unicaja Malaga last September, the 27-year-old forward endured a frustrating spell on the bench before becoming one of the Bobcats' key figures towards the end of the regular season.

And although Charlotte failed to reach the play-offs, Herrmann admits the campaign surpassed expectations on a personal level.

"I was waiting for this chance, but I really hadn't expected to play so much," he told Argentinian newspaper Ole.

"It was incredible for me to go from just training to being a starter.

"I profited from the few minutes I had in the beginning to gain some confidence and win the coach's confidence too."

That coach, Bernie Bickerstaff, has already confirmed he will not be leading the Bobcats next season, but Herrmann is still hopeful the new management will want to keep him on the roster.

"I think they want me to go on here, but I don't know which coach will come and which players the team will sign," he added.

"It seems I will stay, but you never know. I won't know before June 30, that is the first day teams can sign players.

"But I want to stay. I'm very comfortable here, I know the city and get on very well with my team-mates.

"I guess I could sign for another club for more money, but I don't care for that."

What's happening with Herrmann (or the Bobcats)? He was explosive and on right track the previous season, but now he's been playing limited minutes, his scoring decreased drastically and he hasn't shot a single 3-pointer. Any hints as to what's happening?

I have know idea, but I'd like to know. I read the NBA rumors all the time, but I haven't seen anything. He's not injured and he played better than the other big men last year.

Walter Herrmann (F – Charlotte) 12,392 drops
Herrmann has been non-existent in four games this season, averaging 2 points on 15 percent shooting in 11 minutes per game.
Lowdown: Alrighty then. Herrmann appears to be the ninth man in the Bobcats' rotation at this point. Sadly, his impact may remain close to nil until an injury creates an opportunity, but we've seen what he can do when given the opportunity.

I'm a Detroit Pistons fan, and I see that the Pistons just acquired Hermann in a trade for Nazr Mohammed. I don't really know his game, but from what I've heard, Hermann has a pretty decent jump shot and shoots well from the 3 point line.

My question is, can he do anything else? As a Pistons fan, I am well aware of the importance of derfense. Can Hermann play any defense? Can he play PF, or is he strickly a SF? Can he rebound? Pass? How are his handles?

I'm wondering if he's going to stick around in Detroit for a while, or if he was just acquired by Joe Dumars for his expiring contract. Can anyone offer any insight?

I think Herrmann will be able to play a little PF nowadays, but don't think he'll be highly used. Brezec is the main player for Detroit in this trade.

Herrmann can shoot, but he's no real shooter. I would rather describe his game style as the 2K SF/PF Version of Julius Erving.;)

Herrmann is one of these international players who has a lot of different skills. He can really score the ball at a very high percentage (he was 12-15 in a 30 point game last season). He played so well last year at the end, just check out his game log. He gets a few steals and 3-pointers to boot. I hope he gets an opportunity. If not, he may become one of the dozens of great players in the NBA who are being overlooked by their coaches. I've always thought he plays a lot like Tim Thomas; OK defense, great offense, good shooting, wonderful around the hoop (hence Dan's comparison to Julius Erving).

As I understand it, Prince doesn't really have any back-up, maybe Jarvis Hayes, so perhaps Herrmann can fill that roll. I think he's a much more skilled player than Hayes, Amir Johnson, and Jason Maxiell.

Be sure to check out this thread about the trade and the this one about Argentines in the NBA, including some topics about Herrmann.
