This, athletes are one gruesome injury away from poverty

Lastiimosa.. already with partial ACL still being made to play for a final4 push..

luckily was still able to play in PBA..

but the KBL opportunity will not come back.. i suppose

For every lastimosa there are numerous cases who never made it big after a big injury like teng, ababou, maierhoffer

we also have college superstars who failed to transition in the pba (aldeguer, baclao, rabeh, samigue eman)

though sports science/medical science has come a long way..

“Earn later in his career” is kinda problematic, not all bluechippers make it big in the pros, there is a huge possibility that this could be the biggest money his family could see, plus the diploma he’ll get (provided its from the big 4) is significantly better than FEU’s .

why be loyal to a institution that will just discard you anyway when someone better comes along?

Honest question:
Did KQ, Tamayo, Lopez, and the so-called other blue-chip recruits even finish college?

He has a chance to hone his skills now, and in two years, he could be ready to entertain overseas offers. Why waste that by redshirting and stalling his growth—just to maybe get 15 minutes of playing time in a stacked lineup?

Worst-case scenario? He ends up like Gozum, Lina, and others—nowhere to be found.

These are outliers, for every KQ and Tamayo there are dozen of players per team that will call the uaap the peak of their playing careers.

Though i get your point, FEU will provide him all the playing time he wants to inflate his stats and be on the scouts radar.

though there are still no guarantees (i.e. ken bono)

What if he gets hurt after he redshirts? How many years of eligibility would he have left to prove himself?

That will depend on the player. Assuming he moved to a school that paid to get him. Atleast he got the bag already that could help him set him and family up if ever he isnt the same player again and decides to have a career change. And just what coj have said, if hemoved to a big 4 university, that diploma would be a big help if he finishes his studies.

Personally, i dont believe we should penalize the player for doing what he thinks is right for him and his fam. If they have to go after someone, go after the institutions that do so and allow it to happen.

The issue with Pre revolves around capitalism. Ideally he should stay in FEU since thats where he wants to be but I can't blame his family for confronting the realities of our system.

The issue isnt capitalism. College basketball is pro basketball basically at this point.

The issue here is conflicting priorities. Theres probably an offer on the table ( if i were to guess UST) .The family wants their son to take it and thats fair. ( in our culture its common for parents to pick where their kid goes to uni) The son wants to stay its a family issue that molina decided to air out .

The thing with FEU is they are a small market team in what has become a big league. When Ayrton Senna left his small market team to move to a big market team, small market team had to suck a lemon. This is what FEU fans and alumni fail to realize. Beyond the pride, UAAP (or NCAA) is a pay-to-play league. You have to be able to cough up the dough to be in the game.

Exciting finals game between La Salle & Ateneo in 2025 Asiabasket college preseason tourney.

Who will be the one-and-done players next season? Anybody special like a qmb?

Ladi but I doubt he's enough the final piece to Ateneo's puzzle. Ateneo's talent pool is just too far back compared to that of UP DLSU.

The real issue is there is a delay in his allowances and 3/4 of that allowance is allotted for his Father’s medical expenses. Some sources said that Denok Miranda has something to do with the issue since he is the current program director of FEU.
