UAAP Season 88

It’s unfortunate but Daep’s frame is a bit like A pinoy evan mobley.

Small-ish shoulder frame, high hips long legs. He’s skilled but seems like he will always be a skinny 4. Which is good locally. Hopefully i’m wrong.

Compared to Sharma wide ass shoulders / long arms and torso. He projects to put in mass easily.

Sharma has done a solid job clamping up daep so far in game 2.

Man, it's unfortunate that he wasn't even given a chance to show what he got.

I doubt its about the money, so maybe he got frustrated with chances and playing time given to him. Frees up a spot for blue chipper hs.

He was not the same anymore after that davao tournament with the pba teams.

Got bigger and slower that he can't play the SG anymore, his natural position.

And to add the salt into the wound, he was not even given a chance right after recovering his injury.

He might take the JUCO route or lower division US NCAA.

Too bad, he has offers in US right even before going to the DLSU. What a wasted year.

I hope he will gain his confidence back and be his old self again.

Other teams should make a pitch, even NCAA teams. Nakakahinayang naman kung hindi makalaro sa Pinas yan.

I expect la salle to make a run for either buenaflor or daep... or both?

If Konov didn’t changed his mind at the last minute, he will be given a lot of opportunities to shine by Coach Sean Chambers at FEU.

UST moving heaven and earth in order to retain Koji Buenaflor for their seniors team.

Pretty sure other teams will throw offers at him anyway. It would be just another Gani Stevens or Miguel Yniguez scenario where they would likely spend a year in the US then will comeback some time.

Though if he can play in Div 2/3 US NCAA, it would be better for his growth. Div 1 is a reach but his pre-rookie year form in DLSU was worthy of low major D1 program atleast.

Konov initially committed to Chambers and FEU then week after he signs with DLSU.

Man, it's unfortunate that he wasn't even given a chance to show what he got.

Everyone in the team and around dlsu knows how Lazy this kid is. Not to put him down or anything but he just didn’t care enough. Would get scored on would should know pride to defend better etc.

he and Konov were wasted gilas potential. This is why over-recruiting of these so-called good program schools hurt gilas in the long run.

Everyone was urging Gagate to leave at the same time as Pablo and yet he didn't because... he wanted to show people he didn't make the wrong decision?

And now his options are limited (NCAA) if he doesn't want to further lose playing years.

Good for Pablo that he left early.

Hopefully just a young guy mimdset, yes working hard on the floor might affect your shooting but..as young as you are, developing good habits your in born talent will just follow..

Majority of filams straight-from-high-school and young age-wise really need an adjustment period. Officiating in the US has been favoring the offense and they grow up used to that. Then you add the physicality.

Both the teams and the player has to be patient.

Pinoy basketball is still like the 80s/90s. Tall guys who can't play as big men are still considered ineffective tweeners. So they have to adapt and either get stronger/bulkier or if they want to be wings be able to keep up with really short and quick guards. Problem is, many times being able to stay in front of your man is all about getting as low as him (hard to do when guarding someone a foot shorter).

It's partly the reason why we can't develop really tall guards/wings. At the youth levels, smaller players (who aren't really good long-term prospects) have the advantage against them.

As much as hyoed the josh reyes 2022 u17 batch was, almost all of themndidnt live up to their billing..it was the late cut that standout among tjem ( Gemao)

But dont blame josh and company that was good initial.investment ( caelum mahmood and konov)

Do you mean in college ball or high school ball? Gemao hasn’t played college ball yet, so it remains to be seen how he’ll perform in UAAP competition. Personally, I’d prefer for him to stay in the US and play college ball there. Most of them were standouts in high school, Bahay, Pablo, Gagate, Mahmood, Konov, Bayla, Harris, Nieto, and Porter.
