Yeah, that too. There should be no politicians handling sports teams.

Like it or not, basketball and politics often mix in the Philippines. La Salle has benefitted from Danding's Coco Levy funds for years while UP allegedly getting money through POGO/Chinese money. Ateneo is being funded by MVP, but rumors have been swirlinh that he's just a fund manager of one of the biggest Suharto cronies from Indonesia.

Still, guys like Mans, Jonvic and Delta should be kept away from handling sports teams. Don't they have any work in the government in the first place?

Im talking about rumors that the mayor from Abra was involved with that mauling since he also owns an MPBL team that also beat up a ref. So basically I agree with your point.

I know someone who was supposed to be the guy who can fill in the non-KQ minutes and eventual KQ succesor, problem is he's with NLEX now.

Well Yeng Guiao used to be a Vice-Governor and at the same time a PBA coach in the past...

Sorry to spoil everyone but I think that I am the only that seem to be not happy that UP won the season. Why? Because of their team manager. I always don't like politicians and/or government officials handling sports clubs. In the pro ranks, another politician is trying to takeover a team owned by another.

No offense meant to UP posters here. My post is intended to these politicians.

How they were able to strengthen the team? I hope not from our public funds or from something worse.

For me, conglomerates handling sports clubs seems to be more acceptable now.

Happy for Maroons… Politicians involvement in UAAP is not new it’s been ages. There is nothing we can do about it. Whilst Delta and Jonvic are both politicians Mans Carpio is not. It is just happen that she is the VP’s husband.

QMB's FTs were excellent. Many pros would not have made 2/2.

Who is the leader in the QMB sweepstakes in the PBA?

Terrafirma, absolutely horrendous lineup right now and I think Cone really wants a reliable Center in Ginebra (bye Japeth) You could argue the reason why they took Tiongson and Cahilig from them was to cripple that lineup some more.

KQ should cut the drama and just be straight about him leaving DLSU for the KBL. Its a no brainer; he signs a big contract to provide and save for his family's present and future. What's there to debate about?

Not new but that does not mean we should condone it. Do we even know how did they get their players? Whether it is DLSU, UST, ADMU or UP or any schools, I really don't like politicians getting involved there because of the possibility that public funds are being used in recruiting players or they are using (or misusing) their governemental powers to get their players they need.

Whoops... spoke too soon... KQ has made it official. Thanks for the memories champ and good luck in the KBL. See you in the next Gilas stint

Might as well go to the KBL than overstay in the UAAP, just look at Lastimosa's wasted opportunity

I know, but we prefer to call him that. It's more sinister than "DILG Secretary."

But being an SILG is like being the president since he handles anything interior. It means that he controls and supervises all LGU's. That's more powerful and influential than being just a gov.

KQ announces that he wants to pursue the NBA and will play next for Goyang Sono Skygunners

Nah, being sec of the dilg is more sinister just as sir jahe has said, dilg secretary gives you the means and connections to 'lord' over other local officials. Look at it this way, when he was gov he was only handling his province in cavite, in the dilg he basically handle all the lgu's and the local officials under them in the WHOLE country.

Saw higlights of SMB's game last night. Cahilig seems to be adjusting well. SMB really needed a mobile PF with range since Arwind was traded. Cahilig seems to fill that role.
