UAAP season 87

DLSU fumbled the game with free throws and Joshua David losing confidence on his shot. Up was going under screens and playing him conservatively. Then Topex proceeds to call horns multiple times. It was such an easy cover for them. Didn’t really call plays for KQ to catch it in advantageous spots. They weren’t helping off him, they weren’t dying on screens. Couldn’t at least let him iso on the block. From the UP side they ran a play that leads to curl then handoff to a cagulangan p&r with a spain p&r variant. That got the spacing right and helped with offensive rebounding position.

It was a close game but those little things cost the game

A game of inches. But I think UP was the deserved winner. If DLSU won it would be because KQ is goated. Felt strategy wise UP was better.

They were better coached and their best player out played KQ.

Qmb > KQ that game

In the Korean basketball community, rumors are circulating that JD Cagulangan will participate in the PBA draft, not a contract with the KBL club.

Ok I can say this now, kq isnt as amatchup problem.as people view him to be as he cant or lost his back to the basket game(maybe for the better) he couldve make up pay in the asaw defense thru postup and switches..

Correct on this..

Phillips was doing a Lebron with all his flops. Ridiculous. Forgot his Rodman persona and went Sissyboy LeFlop. That is why UP won.

Phillips is coming back next season

Will he? Or a fiba eligibility will change all of it?

Again if paly to their potential the jacob cortez mason amos is much deadlier combo.. ayan with or without motor mike..(given na si kq)..

Jacob will create more than kq..

Jacob is better dribbler than KQ, just not the defender obviously. I wonder what direction they will go with. Since Baclaan is really small at 2 but better offensively than the other options (Gollena, Dungo, Macalalag).

I think La Salle sorely missed another shot creator this season, back then they had Evan Nelle but this season they had no one that stepped up to be that consistent number 2 guy that can manufacture their own shot. And I cant understand why KQ stuck to the perimeter when he had way smaller guys guarding him most of the time, he could have backed them down on the post and exploit those mismatches.

Sorry to spoil everyone but I think that I am the only that seem to be not happy that UP won the season. Why? Because of their team manager. I always don't like politicians and/or government officials handling sports clubs. In the pro ranks, another politician is trying to takeover a team owned by another.

No offense meant to UP posters here. My post is intended to these politicians.

How they were able to strengthen the team? I hope not from our public funds or from something worse.

For me, conglomerates handling sports clubs seems to be more acceptable now.

Same thing you can say about La Salle's Mans Carpio, Sara Duterte's husband.

I dont like it too but to be fair Jonvic has been taking a less public role compared to before. Its also bad that Mapua won after someone from their side beat up a ref. That one was probably worse.

Still, guys like Mans, Jonvic and Delta should be kept away from handling sports teams. Don't they have any work in the government in the first place?
