UAAP season 87

Just like the 2021 championship up plays at best when we are the underdogs...ateneo team.was deep but not as talented as up.. BUT.. player 1 to 16 of ateneo knew their role and they excel onnwhat they do best( example andrade and asistio shooting, mamu defense), players cover up on theie weakness ( kouame to isaac) as for UP...you see anton eusebio rot on the bench, rc calimag rot on bench.. what you need is game changers.. Lucero didnt play when the blue and maroon last met. Lopez may underachieved compare to kq but lopez possess what kq doesnt have ( natural first step, athleticism and lateral quickness)..

Ryan Alba was with bw pala, so he was able to convince dioceldo to stick with george king? Or change the identity of the team to a defensive one because they have the 2 best shot creators innthe league ( kung and barefield)

If Lopez had the right mentality, he should be practicing free throws right now. He should dribble first before shooting the free throws to calm himself down. The moment he gets the ball from the ref he immediately shoots. The UP guards should set up QMB properly. He was underutilized last game. And the UP guards should just accept the fact that they are not three-point shooters and go hard inside.

Francis Lopez, with the work ethic of KQ, would be the best UAAP player to have ever existed.

No amount of practice will work because you can never replicate the game atmosphere. He shot 4 of 4 before the fourth quarter. His FT misses were really just because of extreme pressure and nerves. Which also explains his turnover.

ADMU had a roster with 16/16 making it pro. Season 82 iirc only Jolo Mendoza , Daves and Verano not be able to become consistent starters in the pro’s. Daves and Verano are in the rotation as well. Of that team only Wong is not playing but he basically retired instead of gettin cut.

That team would probably beat both UP and Dlsu 2-0

This UP is still more loaded. They have blue chips riding the bench or relegated to play a role. I guarantee all of them will go on to be pros as well.

My prediction remains UP will win this series. No Abadam, lack of shot creator outside of KQ for DLSU while UP is fielding a complete and arguably the deepest roster in the amateurs in recent memory. I can't think of a deeper team.

Just looking at UP teams alone...I'll go for quality over quantity...chip-winning Tamayo team. Diouf, Carl, Lucero, Ricci, Cagu, Spencer, Cansino. Even Fortea was a better edition (leading to an overseas offer). Better-constructed and better balanced with well-defined roles. End of the bench players maybe worse but that's not always a bad thing. Current team has to keep giving minutes to everyone which is not optimal.

That Carl is arguably equal or better than KQ with a far superior supporting cast.

they have a 5’5 pg who can’t shoot playing minutes in the finals. Hes terrible.

Admu had future gilas guys and pba all stars riding the bench. Aaron Black couldn’t get minutes and when we would have runs back then he was the best player on the floor and that had pro guys.

If you consider MPBL to be pro that’s fine but guys like Torres, Felicilda, Fortea wouldn’t be getting minutes. They really don’t have a position better than admu.

Guards,
Wings/Forwards
Bigs

That Ateneo team is better. They wouldve never lost to NU for one. The only comparison is DLSU season 79 with a healthy Perkins. But since Perkins wasnt healthy, that Ateneo team is on top. But theoretically Season 79 DLSU could compete, they went 13-1 with their best local injured.

the undefeated admu < 2024 UP team?

theirs a reason they’re undefeated that season. They’re complete team..

LOL.

Denzil Walker included? I doubt.

A 16-0 team is much better than this UP team. Even Ateneo’s second five in that squad will beat UP’s second five handily.

First five

5 - Kouame vs QMB
4 - Navarro vs. Lopez
3 - Ravena vs Alarcon
2 - Wong vs Abadiano
1 - Nieto vs Cagulangan

Then coming off the bench

5 - Go vs Stevens/Udodo
4 - Verano/Nieto/Daves vs Torculas/Belmonte/Briones
3/2 - Tio/Mendoza/Asistio/Mamuyac/Black vs Fortea/Bayla/Torres
1 - Belangel vs Felicilda

Besides KQ, Cagulangan, Alter and QMB who are the players that are done playing in the UAAP after the game tomorrow?

No more playing years—- Cagulangan, QMB, David and Ramiro

Rumored to be going pro —- KQ

Those whose last playing year is next season - All the NU boys of UP (Alarcon, Felicilda, Fortea, Torres, Abadiano), Mike Phillips and CJ Austria

This year is UP's best chance to win the chip because their roster will be significantly weaker especially with the departure of QMB and Cagulangan. There's a good chance that UP might not make it back to the Finals next season.

Cagulangan will be replaced by Remogat, who finished second to KQ in the MVP race last year.

I think the loss of KQ for DLSU is a bigger loss actually. For all the hype regarding his transfer, Amos is no KQ.

Hes 3 years younger. A big reason why tamayo and kq lit the league up early. Was that during their rookie years they were as old amos is right now probably
