UAAP season 87

I love how Bayla shows his importance to the game in aspects other than scoring. That +19 in +/- is so great to see, specially in a tight game like this. No wonder he gets these heavy minutes, which is unusual for a rookie.

Bayla has been great on defense this game. Good hustle too. That will be one of his main assets for Gilas consideration.

UP guards Abadiano and Cagulangan with the finishing blows in the end to seal Game 1.

Quiambao was limited in the second half with the triumvirate defenders of Bayla. Alarcon and Torres taking turns.

To think that this man is assigned to guard the current MVP is just amazing. Being a rookie and having the responsibility to contain KQ is a lot to swallow. I was so frustrated when he chose the UAAP instead of staying in the US because I thought he would just be a 'sayang' player here. Turns out, he still has a bright future ahead in the league.

For me, another guy who submitted his name for future consideration...Dungo. Lengthy pg who defends well and can shoot.

And that is why I considered UP to be the favorites. Too much talent. They had a block party to clinch game1.

I mentioned how KQ looked lackadaisical to start the 2nd half, sure enough he went scoreless the rest of the way. He probably went with his on/off switch habit after his hot start. Unfortunately, he couldn't turn it on again.

Wow, looks like UP has solved the KQ riddle. Game 2 is going to be very interesting but it's still anybody's series.

QMB is that guy. I'm also wondering who will be that main PG for UP next year, coz Cagulangan will be surely missed.

It's going to be Remogat, although I see him as a scoring PG than a distributing PG like Cagulangan.

UP's man to man D stifled the guards of DLSU. No one hero balled and stayed disciplined staying on their man. And when their opponents drove to the basket the blockers QMB, Lopez et al were waiting. UP lived with KQ having a hot start. Tom Chua really did an outstanding job with their defensive adjustments.

Isnt Andy Gemao? Too bad we nwver see a konov sighting, shouldve been in team b..getting pt

I hope DLSU loses Game 2 so that KQ can finally go to Korea without further delay.

Unless La Salle is willing to match the 37-million, 3-year offer from the KBL club. But I'm honestly really happy for KQ as he deserves to command that much money with that talent of his. Him and Tamayo should milk the KBL for as long as possible.
