UP's coaching staff and guards seem to idolize Chot Reyes in making bigs just screeners.
Heck in the uaap their might be less than 10
bigs you’d want to have the ball with.

Would you want any of them with ball ? QMB isn’t an offensive type big he’s a role playing big. Who plays well off others

QMB can score and make plays from the low post. He's fundamentally sound, and has a very high bball IQ.

In fact, when UP does get the ball in his hands, good things happen for them. Every coach should want the ball in his hands.

What up did successfully on how he gets the ball in the post against dlsu. During the first round game was run a pick and roll, philips traps , swing the ball to the wing and have them pass to a ceiling QMB. Hes a play finisher on a mismatch and on the move not an iso, post up big. They’ll probably do that again .

If UP is smart, they'd keep posting up Mike with QMB. Get Mike tired and nullify his effectiveness by being a post defender instead of a help defender. QMB is also taller so he won't have issues going over the top of Mike.

I've yet to see anyone in the UAAP - FSA or local, stop QMB's post ups one on one. Too big, too skilled and too good.

Topex does not field in Phillips until probably the 5 minute mark of the first quarter (unless of course they get into a huge deficit early). In the first round, Agunanne matched up well with QMB. Look at how QMB got his points in that game. None from post up moves, all from offensive rebound putbacks or mismatches as pointed out above.

He doesn’t really have post up moves.

Also, feeding the ball to QMB is easier said than done. Only JD is smart enough to do that in the presence of better than average defense. The rest, not so much.

What? QMB no post moves? Simply incorrect.

I'm pretty certain QMB scores on the block regularly when he gets the ball and when attracts help, he makes the correct pass.

you named 3 of countless others. Those are the good ones. Those who suck are just taking up space in panalay leagues

Abuse is abuse just because some have it better doesn’t lessen the circumstance. These guys are treated like mercenaries. If they aren’t good enough or useful kicked out of the dorm, no scholarship.

That's 4 who overlapped tenures, and that's why I said "look somewhere else" because you said their extra FSAs will end up in the streets. Name when that happened.

While you're at it, try to imagine how many probinsyanos flock to Manila with the hopes of hoops glory and end up worse for it. It's a fact of life, people take a shot at their dream and sometimes it doesn't work out. The situation of migrants/illegals is they are ripe for abuse but it's a much more complex issue than just straight up looking at it black and white.

And who are you to say that those playing in panalay games have it worse compared to where they're from. Some of those guys are from war-torn and abject poverty countries.

You mentioned before that it only happens here which is moronic, I posted an article of how there are so many cases like this in Europe and elsewhere...crickets.

His post moves and touch aren’t really elite. He generally just kills switches by quick seals one move hooks and offensive rebounds. He just uses his size If the guy is as big as him he can’t have his way.

Runing simple posts ups isn’t his bread and butter like he’s Jokic or Junemar

No post-up moves. Watch how Cedrick Manzano does it. Or even the NU boys. He doesn’t have those kind of post-up moves.

His scoring in the post is mostly on catch and shoot when he has sealed his man, or off put-backs.

Most of these Filam bigs are role-players. If they had elite skills, they'd still be in the US. But that doesn't mean they can't improve, they just haven't had the reps as focal points.

Guys like Manzano are used to being primary options.

A guy like QMB has a lot of upside compared to our local bigs. He just needs experience and the right coaches.

Posting up now is also really hard. Spacing will always be bad. Fiba rules has no 3 sections and more physicality. You’d need to be really big and skilled to make it work. So you can shoot over people rather easily and easy to help/ double. Being a good passer of course helps that’s why there’s only a few really elite bigs who live of post ups.

UST tiger cubs overcoming twice to beat disadvantage to beat FEU-D and will face UE red warriors for JHS finals..

Setting up QMB doesn't mean he goes at it alone. That is why the UP Guards are dumb. They don't set him up properly through good passing. They just waste time dribbling. Ever heard of the drop pass?

9:12 mark in the second quarter. QMB posted up Mike. Two pound dribbles, drop step and a lay up. It's not the absence of post moves. It's the lack of opportunities.
