UAAP season 87

The Kevin Alas situation is different because Learn and DLSU are in different leagues. It's not as if there would be a situation where Louie would be coaching against his son's team.

A similar scenario would be Bacon Austria in ADMU's line-up while his father was the coach of Adamson, but Austria is not the star player / game changer that Kieffer Alas would be. Also similar would be Danny I remaining in NU's coaching staff when Dave returned to Ateneo.

I only take note of that situation as precedence that coach Louie did not force his Kevin to play for him. One could reasonably assume he will do the same for Kieffer and allow him to choose.

Regardless of where Kiefer will play, he has just recently graduated from junior high school (grade 10), meaning he will still spend two more years playing high school basketball. It doesn't make sense to include him in the college basketball recruiting buzz at this point because a lot can happen in two years. The earliest season he could play in the UAAP, if he decides to pursue college basketball here, would be Season 90. If I’m correct, the rookie batch for this season consists of players born in 2005, while Kiefer Alas was born in 2007. So, indeed, it will take two more years before he can play college basketball.

Cagulangan also hero balls a lot. Great when it works (in Season 84 and in this game against FEU), but then you also get games like the recent DLSU game when he tried to do everything by himself.

UP can’t rely on just QMB in the final four and finals. They need to get their other big men more reps. Their back up big men played a combined 13 minutes in a non bearing game, with Alter not playing at all. No wonder they’re all rusty when used in crucial games.

I'm not expecting UP's bigs to score off post-up plays. I'm talking about how UP's bigs such as QMB and Stevens aren't getting enough touches even if they're already in position for an easy bucket because a UP wing would rather chuck it from three or from the mid-range.

Isn't he currently Grade 11? Which means he will be eligible in Season 89, not Season 90.

This Filoil game as well as the UST games are good preparation for the UAAP arena. Once the arena's capacity was announed. It was pretty obvious that it planned to compete with the likes of Filoil and not MOA/Araneta.

just want to ask if there are any good recruits that will be joining ADMU next season? seriously they need to step up in their recruitments.

Saw a couple of their team B games. Kymani (6'7ish) and De Luna (6'3ish) can shoot. Kymani would be a shoo in considering the team's lack of size but he looks like he doesn't really play like a big. I think he can be a legit wing. PG Ebdane from AHS also looks promising but they're loaded at his position. There's also 2 or 3 FSAs but they look raw.

They need size and shooters. Would not be surprised if they try to recruit more of those.

Kiefer Alas is in 10th grade. If he's serious when he said that his dream goal is D1, then he should already be doing the preparations to make the move. He should already be showcasing himself stateside starting this summer, he'd have the same timeline trajectory like Gemao.

Any team in the Philippines would be his to choose from and will always be there.

Unless they’re all reporting wrong, various articles online say he’s in Grade 11 already. Sample: https://tiebreakertimes.com.ph/tbt/...loaded-farm-fresh-letran-in-second-win/272907

Yep he should try his luck in the US. Just like the son of JR Reyes, I think he is only 15yrs old from Zobel too.

Jacob Cortez has been off the last couple of games including this one.

DLSU had a great look at the end of the 4th to win it all but Pablo couldn't guide the ball home off a very good ATO play.

Dom is showing signs of his potential. He needs to work on his game but he's got the size and talent to be a good player in the future.

He was gassed at the end, they were severely undermanned (7 player rotation? Yikes)

Having QMB as a local is only possible through UP. His papers were messed up as why the other schools didn’t chase him as hard.
