UAAP season 87

Louie Alas, Ford Arao, Norman Black. Possibly Nenad or Yuri Escueta too.

As much as I don't like foreigners coming in and taking away from locals, I'd actually welcome Nenad with open arms. If he is as successful as Tab is and Norm was in the college hoop scene, it'll just force local coaches to step up. That's why you see the young guys in Jeff Napa outcoach the legacy coaches in the likes of Derrick Pumaren. Teams will realize that you cannot rely on old school coaching principles to work on the modern age basketball scene.

No QMB for UP against La Salle today. QMB returns to the US to mourn his grandfather's passing.

LeBron Lopez left because they neglected him. ADMU safely assumed he would stay and didn't court him to join the Srs. whereas UP kept at it and Tamayo eventually convinced him to go.

Mason Amos left because there were promises that weren't delivered such as extra financial support, training and playing wing. A talk with Mayor Zamora pushed him over the edge and left.

Forthsky left because of the off court drama that plagued him from focusing on his studies. He eventually was left off the team because of his grades. ADMU failed to contain the issue and protect him despite finding him not guilty in a prior trial years ago.

Kobe left because he had bad grades. He just couldn't
keep up.

I think good FSAs are just hard to come by. Ateneo had 3 or 4 in the pool at one point but none of them are good.

To sum it up, they lost the players because of the lack of TLC from management and coaching staff.

Amos one is completely false with regards to the money aspect. Hes with DLSU for a lot less money than what admu gave him. To be fair they also learned their lesson with Bahay and recruited him like they did Lopez

I read something different on here. But perhaps what can't be denied are the things Mason himself said which are training and opportunity to play the perimeter. They're already working on his body and training him under Phenom.

I find it offensive that Kobe transferred to Adamson because of his bad grades. While Adamson is not within the level of Ateneo in academics, passing there is also not a cakewalk, atleast for regular students.

In men's football, UP just won 1-0 against Ateneo. First points Ateneo dropped all season, and it came in a loss.

To be fair with kobe, i heard from a podcast he appeared in that he didnt fail. Grades just didnt reach the required qpi which ateneo is really strict with. Same with celis. Doesnt mean that the guy is not academically fit nor is it a knock on adamson. Infact both adamson and csb are in the top 10-15 schools in the country so their academic standards shouldnt be looked down at.

Failing your qpi doesnt mean you are kicked out of Ateneo but, at least in the past, it means losing all your scholarship benefits.

Yup they werent kicked out, but they chose to move out. Tho i dont think they would have lost their scholarship. I think the issue was that they will be limited with their basketball activities had they stayed as ateneo would require them to catch up on their acads. This is what happened with thirdy and raffy verano in the past.

Its what happened to Jerie Pingoy. He lost his benefits.

La Salle cant even execute, their lack of a reliable point guard is showing

Wait so Thirdy and Raffy both were left off Team A?

Guys, do U think Nick Cabanero of UST is the best shooting guard in college basketball at present? I think he's so skilled a player. The downside I see in him is his weight (mejo chubby sya) & his lack of athleticism. He reminds me of Ronjay Buenafe.

Guys, do U think Nick Cabanero of UST is the best shooting guard in college basketball right? I think he's so skilled a player. The downside I see in him is his weight (mejo chubby sya) & his lack of athleticism. He reminds me of Ronjay Buenafe.

Once he decides to put his head down and go on attack mode, it's a tough matchup. If he could be a more reliable shooter and better play maker, he'd be in consideration as the best amateur player right now.

UP is surprisingly holding a slim lead despite QMB's absence. I still think La Salle out-executes them in the end game if it's close.

There was an open pick and roll there for Gani Stevens but of course Alarcon decides to take the jumpshot

Alarcon and Lopez have barely improved their decision-making skills.

Wait so Thirdy and Raffy both were left off Team A?

Yes they were. They were forced to catchup with their grades. And the rule was, no basketball muna til they've caught on with their grades. For thirdy, even in hs, he is known as a below averaged student so it came no shock when news came out that he didnt meet the qpi standards. As for raffy and jolo mendoza, both had issues with just a couple of their subjects which made them miss the mark.

In the past, i cant say this has been enforced fully, especially during buenafe and salamat's time. But once bo perasol came in and eventually tab the general rule was that whenever someone fails to meet the qpi standard, they are off the team in the time being and as far as i know, even their training is limited just for them to focus on acads. Usually this is the reason most move out

As for pinggoy's case, i cant really say since havent heard what really happened to him, but its worth nothing that his stay in ateneo was 3 years. If he was really failing that badly, he wouldnt last that long in ateneo.
