Nnoruka just ate the DLSU bigs alive lol.

Sarmiento is just too soft right now. Unless he’s taking up Isaiah Phillips’ slot, he needs to spend another year in Team B.

So far from these DLSU games, aside from the usual suspects, I am really liking Buenaventura. Good ball handler and seems to be a tall guard as well?

Yeah they played together for brief periods but in most part split the minutes between them as they are the only bigs.

Once onoh becomes NP, we'll probably see more kacey playing alongside either onoh or animam.

Currently she's playing alongside with a C in makonjoula. She has reps playing the 4..

One look at Sarmiento's stats in the US and you can tell he is gonna be a big project.

Yup, he's gotten a couple 3s up this game.

Hmm personally i think ududo got the nod since he's spent more time with UP than Nnoruka who only joined the team around december or january of this year.

Ududo is still young tho, still has his full eligibility intact if im not mistalen so theres still time to improve. So im for giving him another shot. Imo Up is prolly not banking on him to contribute heavily this year anyways with qmb alter and gani in the lineup.

As for nnoruka i like his game as well, ive been watching him since Up played in last season's pinoy liga team b cup, where he shined and has been improving ever since. He seems to have a better feel for the game compared to ududo but thats probably becuase nnoruka is already 22 so he's in the slightly older side. Still want to see him go against the like of momoweis or konateh to really gauge how ready he is for that fsa spot, but i wouldnt mind if he gets it next season over ududo to get a fair shot, he deserves it naman din. Maybe ududo can improve his game while in team b.

I am impressed by UP's Francis Noruka. He can shoot the 3, block shots, make great decisions with the ball, and even handle the ball & make plays on the break. Is he serving residency that's why he's not team A? Where did he come from? More info about him would be appreciated.

Phillips bros are a package deal. Mike plays as long as his brother(s) do. That's why Mike will maximize his eligibility to ensure his brother gets in as well. The timing of Mike last playing year is coincidentally the same as Isiah's.

Amos having a breakout game while he playing the wing only solidifies the fact that he can play the perimeter. Might be too early to tell given the sample size but it's a great sign for DLSU and for Gilas.

i have no idea based of the game that happened but if you can shoot like he does you can play in the perimeter . In higher levels of play though your positon is who you can defend . Hes a 4 because he can only defend slow 4’s

He actually did a great job staying in front of his match up i the perimeter. What made me think he'll be a mismatch nightmare is that he uses his size well and punishes the smaller matchups inside to get rebounds.

This is what Agunanne was in the preseason leagues. And then look what happened lol.

So while Nnoruka impressed earlier, it was against competition that had no one who could stop him.

Preseason against who? Henry sucked in the pre season too. He was much worse than what he was in Pinoyliga lol. You're referring to CEU days which can't be compared to what Noruka did against DLSU that featured Pablo, Amos and Bright in the front court.

Watch the preseason game against Ateneo, the one where DLSU beat them by almost 40 points.

Agunanne was running the floor, running back on defense, even starting the fast break. And like Nnoruka, he was able to do that because Ateneo's bigs who played in that game had no answer.

Udodo was also great in the preseason mind you, and he has sucked so far for UP. Though Udodo may be a victim of QMB taking up his minutes.

I watched the game earlier and Amos was not playing "big" so in no instance was he tasked to guard Nnoruka. It was mostly Nwanko (who did the best of the bigs thrown at Nnoruka, but still not good), Sarmiento (pathetic effort really), and Pablo (just got outmuscled)

I watched Pinoyliga, lol. Don’t worry about that. Henry didn’t have much impact; he wasn’t influencing the game the way Nnoruka did earlier. Nnoruka was blocking Kean’s and Jacob’s shots, out-rebounding Bright, who’s already a UAAP champion and veteran. The point is, you can’t compare Henry’s preseason to Nnoruka’s because Henry wasn’t even making an impact, not even against UAAP Team B whereas Nokura did it against arguably the one of the best recruiting class in recent memory.

I wonder if UAAP will look at KQ playing a "liga" outside the UAAP.

They won’t because it’s KQ.

Besides, he’s not the only one playing in pocket tournaments during the season. There are players from other teams too.

Wait, is KQ (and others) playing in a ligang labas during the UAAP season? Usually it's before or after the current UAAP tournament.

The problem here is the definition of "ligang labas". in recent years, the UAAP has been very lenient in enforcing these rules.

For example, a lot of LGUs hold basketball games and mini-tournaments (usually lasting for just a weekend) to coincide with the LGU's fiesta. Participation in these types of "tournaments" seem to not be prohibited by the UAAP, even if held during the season. There are also alumni basketball leagues that run during the season where UAAP players still participate in (I think Ricci Rivero participated in a La Salle alumni league even while he was playing for UP).

Considering how the UAAP Board didn't even bat an eyelash at Diouf playing for a tournament prior to Season 86, I don't think this KQ playing in a Barangay league over the weekend is an issue, to be honest.

Im pretty sure they changed the rules after Mbala was suspended. I think they caught Ces Robles in a paliga during the season and nothing happened.

What's the deal with Mason Amos' little brother, CJ Amos? I heard news about him when Mason first committed to Ateneo. The talks were CJ was actually the more talented and highly coveted prospect and Mason was discovered thru CJ.

EDIT: I found out that they have an even younger brother and the kid only turned 15 this year and is already dunking. He also looks taller (longer limbs) than CJ.

Also, in the off season, CJ was here in the PH to train with his brother and Phenom.
