UAAP season 87

Abadam will be out for a month to recover from his ankle injury. He'll miss the remainder of the 2nd round but will be back just in time for F4. I hope he comes back to his usual groove immediately since he provides good shooting and good penetration on offense.

A few things I noticed about DLSU's win against Adamson.

AdU kept on using extended zone against the Archers as it was their biggest deterrent during their last game.

DLSU came in prepared and had several players spot up in the short/mid post. These players were a threat to score in the mid range and find guys all over the floor - KQ shined and so did Raven.

DLSU also showcased their shooting as was the case when David punished the defense consistently.

To me, that game really showed the level of talent that DLSU has and the way it complements one another: a bunch of good shooters and incredibly talented and versatile bigs.

A month is optimistic. My guess is that he is done for the season.

Santi Sauler commits to ADMU and will be eligible starting S88. He is the son of former DLSU head coach and UST current assistant coach, Juno Sauler.

It makes sense he joined ADMU. He'll have a higher chance of getting into the line up and earning minutes in a rebuilding team rather than a stacked contending team.

Thats what the coaching staff said. Hoping he comes back soon

They were being careful to disclose details of his injury and for good reason. Based on the information I got, it is very unlikely he will play any more games this season (and frankly, they shouldn't rush his recovery timetable). Won't say anything more, since the coaches or Abadam himself have not revealed anything other than he'll be out indefinitely (and I also don't want to get my source in trouble haha).

DLSU shouldn’t fall into the same shit UP is doing. Every year DLSU needs 3-4 guys who should be willing to not play at all and just learn the system . Macalalag didn’t play then slowly earned his trust. UP has too many guys who need to play so they don’t transfer .

DLSU also had a ton of guys transfer this year, the big difference is they work with CSB and with the new UAAP rules I expect more transfers to the NCAA over the UAAP.

Yikes. Speedy recovery to him. It's a lot more serious than what I thought. Hopefully he comes back stronger for next season.

As for DLSU, it's next man up. I expect Dungo to get more minutes but it'll be Gollena who will take on more of his role. Offensively, this could be bad.

There is no working relationship between dlsu and csb. What they do share is a couple of boosters and phenom sports agency. Those boys that moved out of dlsu to go to csb are all with phenom to join fellow phenom players.who comprised 70-80% of the current benilde pool. Not to mention most of the players benilde has right now are already transferees themselves and should be one and dones or overaged by the time they are eligible to play in the uaap. So if dlsu will get transfers from ncaa, it wont be from csb.

Actually, I don't think their offense will suffer much, especially since Austria is slowly getting his old self back.

On defense, his size will be missed especially against UP. Against their remaining opponents (Ateneo, NU and FEU), the others can pick up the slack.

In terms of minutes played, he ranked fifth on the team before his injury (behind KQ, Mike, Macalalag and David). I would expect his minutes to go to the ones ranking immediately behind him in minutes (Gollena, Austria and Marasigan, maybe Dungo).

But Austria and Earl are interchangeable in what they bring offensively and play together at the same offensively. Losing Abadam just means you're less potent than you are with him before hence why I think it's a loss on that end.

Defensively, as I mentioned earlier, Gollena is their go to guy to defend the best perimeter player. But he is sorely lacking the shot making capabilities of Abadam.

Macalalag might have been their most conistent among the Abadam, Austria, Gollena , Marasigan wings

PUP joining the UAAP?

Heard they’re applying for UAAP..

It's high time for the UAAP to add a couple more teams.

PUP released a statement that they only intend to apply in the coming years but are currently NOT yet part of UAAP

Dont they need another university to join with them so im guessing it isnt just PUP.

I don't think that UAAP will approve the application of PUP if ever they apply. First things first, you need money. Does the PUP have the funding to cover atleast half of the sports events in the UAAP? I am referring to the expenses of getting athletes, maintaining facilities and conducting practices outside the Metro or even abroad.

UP is fortunate since they have tons of wealthy alumni that serve as boosters plus Jonvic and the corporate backing (Robinson's I believe). How about PUP? AFAIR, the students burned their school's chairs when their Admin decided to increase the tuition at P12 per unit.

IMO, I only see these three schools to have the most realistic chance to be part of UAAP should they apply - Mapua, Lyceum and San Beda.

Last two questions, is the PUP willing to recruit FSAs? Do they have a high school program?
