UAAP season 87

Not really surprised with this whole spitting incident form Topex. He has always been a dirty player and Yeng Guiao used to send him to try to hurt/injure opposing teams' point guards. Him and Jimwell Torion were Guiao's "Hitters". It's not outside of the realm of possibility for Topex to spit on another human being because he had no qualms hurting other players. Go ask Jimmy Alapag, Olsen Racela, and even Danny Seigle.

Prolly because the investigation has already concluded and warnings have been sent out? As ive said in my other comment people adding into it just makes it toxic. As people have already raised, theres no conclusive proof wether or not he did what he did. So again why do even have to prolong this?

I dunno what other people get by lambasting the comm sections with whatever accusation they have. Its been a week, and everyday all we see are articles about it. It aint even about basketball anymore. Heck we've talked about this topic for days now. We have lots pages in this thread alone dedicated to it. Now for the aggreave parties, especially topex thats on him if he wants to pursue anything, nothing we can do about it of he doesnt. So can we now go back to discussing basketball?

Please reread what I said. I'm not sure if you caught that.

I think you're the one who doesnt get the point.

Let me ask you 2 questions.
First no matter how right yours and everyone elses statements are, how does it exactly help topex? No matter how right you all think you are people from the other side of the tracks wont give a damn. They have their own thoughts and beliefs. And no matter what, they will support whatever comes out from their team, no matter how nonsense or unruly it may be. Imo you're just gonna add into the toxicity of the situation. If your goal is to truly help him maybe you can refer him to a good lawyer and help pursue legal actions against those up fans for what they did. Heck help him pursue something against reyland. But as topex have already said, he doesnt wanna drag reyland anymore too.

Which leads me to my 2nd question, if you're topex, do you really want people to keep on raising the issue wether they support him or not? Looking at his statement seems like he just wants to move on from it and avoid it all costs. He has given his statement, i doubt he'll address it again. As for the harrassment, again its up to him if he wants pursue anything from it. Nothing we can do, no matter what we say here or anywhere can really affect his decision. Its on him and on him alone. So instead of continually talking about it everywhere, how about people start moving on from it and just appreciate the games we're watching, coz theres nothing more to accomplish if we keep on dragging the issue. It'll just be a cycle that involves baseless accusations and justification of whoever's actions from an incident that has already been investigated and resolved.

Btw if you actually read my first statement i never said anything about forgetting. Moving on from it is different from forgetting it all together.

Reread it. You missed the point entirely.

Comparing Philips, Prescious and QMB . It seems like by a long shot Philips had the highest offensive ceiling among them but also the worst team defender right now.

He gambles a lot and is always out of position as a result. He gets cooked on the pick and roll for as much times as he gets a steal .Im sure the coaches want him to play more conservative but that energy can rear its head both ways. He just needs to mature because precious/qmb trys to check his man and the rim . Philips has a tendency to check the ball and get out of positon.

UE is having a difficult time controlling Mike.

Meanwhile, Fikes.. what are you doing lol

The advantage of programs like DLSU and UP is that they dont need to play raw prospects like Fikes. Since they have the pick of the litter, it isnt as imperative that every tall prospect is used.

i'm curious how will they develop the sarmiento kid they recruited.

Back to basketball, I am legit surprised that Tounkara has been the best FSA this season. Momowei is still good but I think he was better last season. Also, suprised that Konateh has been a non-zero factor for FEU. Finally, funny how the two biggest teams has the worst FSAs in Udodo and Agunnane. I'd argue that ADU's Ojarike has even been better than these two clowns lmao

And you think you got my point with your first statement? Lol Quit being self righteous and lets go back to discussing uaap basketball here. If you wanna keep posting stuff about spitgate, just make a separate thread.

Updated FSA Tiers list

Legit
-Momowei, Tounkara, Konateh

Decent Roleplayer
-Ojarike, Ududo

Bust
-Agunnane, Balogun

Personally wasnt surprised at how good konateh is. Been seeing him play all preseason and one can immediately see how huge of an upgrade he is from mo faty. Tounkara was one who surprised me really, he didnt really give off 'offensive' weapon vibes when i saw him play, infact it was the other ust fsa Peter Osang who was more aggressive offensively in the preseason.

Ojarike has been impressive as well. Last year he was borderline unplayable in offense but atleast this year he's been serviceable on that end. Does his role exceptionally well on defense. Ududo in the meantime has had limited playing time and the games he does play, he's had quality minutes. He's still young and will prolly have a share of qmb minutes next year.

As for the ex ceu guys, they've been busts. More disapointed with agunnane. The agunnane i see playing today has regressed from the one i saw in the preseason. Prolly because of better competition? Confidence issues? I dunno his quality of playing now will give nwako a chance next year tho i wouldnt be surprised if they get a new fsa. As for balogun, will give him a small break since he was injured a big portion of the offseason. Prolly couldnt integrate well with this year's lineup. But ateneo should start looking at other options too.

i'm curious how will they develop the sarmiento kid they recruited.

Ive seen videos of the guy, he has solid touch and footwork. Good rim runner. Decent finisher around the paint, even with contact. On defense has decent nose for the ball and good active hands that can get the ball away from opposing post players. So good news for dlsu, he's not totally raw. Might be more polished coming to the team compared to mike p. Imo what he needs to work on really is the physicality of ph basketball and going up against guys his size.

Prescious is slowly getting his groove back. He was getting into foul trouble a lot at the start. He seems like the only FSA / player who can play 40 mins which is really impressive.

Looks like UP's Reyland Torres' claims have a basis after all. Go to the 5:24 mark of the video and watch how Magoo Marjon discusses how Topex uses his spitting skills when he was still an active player

https://youtu.be/ql_b2vW0QVI?feature=shared

This video was posted 11 years ago and it actually includes prominent basketball personalities or commentators such as coach Charles Tiu, Doug Kramer, Mico Halili, etc. Charles Tiu even said, his Kuya (Chris) plays dirty but he's not gonna spit at someone. This video confirms that Topex was one of Yeng's "Hitters", during his Red Bull days in the 2000s. Apparently, Topex specialized in projectile hitting coming from his mouth. lol

Interesting to see on who Coach Chambers will field come season 88 as their FSA with Shelton undergoing residency

I will still take Momowei over Tounkara.

As for Agunanne, he is not being used properly by DLSU. He needs a JD Cagulangan type PG to feed him the ball. I daresay he will improve next year with Jacob Cortez there. His defense for me is fine (see UP game vs QMB).

Udodo is an unfortunate victim of QMB’s arrival. He was fine in the preseason, he just needs minutes to heat up.

How was Agunanne in CEU? Was he more of a post up back to the basket type player? It seems the quick pace of the UAAP game is not suited for him and more for the faster Momowei. Mismatched sya for what La Salle runs.

Oh, what you said is what I've come to expect from a UP fan, don't worry.

But since you need help, allow me to spell out what I said, it's insensitive to ask Lasalle community to just move on especially when, UP fans are still taking to social media to show how much class they have.

Exhibit A

Exhibit B

If he develops, he develops but I doubt DLSU is counting on him.

He needs to add some muscle. But what he has can't be taught: great size and good mobility. Plus, he can shoot so that's why the coaching staff took him.

From what I understand, the moment this kid popped up on their radar, DLSU snagged him. Mind you, there were several players that tried out from Tumakbo but none of them got a substantial offer
