UAAP season 87

I don't know about you guys but it seems to me that both Konov and Amos look soft. Probably, fielding them both in the court might create big defensive liability for DLSU.

Maybe Topex will toughen up Amos. He was soft on the paint. He was pretty dominant in his age bracket but apparently because he had a grown man’s body by then. But he needs to be stronger in the seniors team.

He doesn't seem fit (yet) to me, plus he came in a bit late to the team. Sorta like how Amos was with Ateneo last year.

I know a lot of Hoops fans are enthralled with the idea of having a big do-it-all guard to compete internationally as it is the trend in the NBA and I hate to say it but both Konov and Amos are at best PFs as they lack the foot speed and laterals to keep up against perimeter players.

They can shoot lights out but to ask them to put the ball on the floor and defend perimeter players is a tall task for both.

Seems like they are strech 4's at best. Maybe combo forwards but i dont think they'll ever develop into a guard. Really hard to develop guard skills at their age, if they really wanted to, they should've started way way younger.

Not to mention the fluidity to their movements. Thats one of the things that people always call KQ out on - the lack of fluidity when performing juke moves. And that's already the hardest worker in the room. Although KQ has gotten better, he still has ways to go. So for both Amos and Konov it'll take a lot of time in the gym to develop at least a somewhat respectable off the dribble game.

Something tough for Bahay’s sake is he doesn’t have anything elite size wise or athletically. He’s smart and can shoot but he looks more Jerie Pinggoy than Kiefer Ravena out there.

Based on what I have seen with Bahay (still a small sample size), he looks to be more of a player that raises your team's floor more than it's ceiling - if that makes sense.

Don't get me wrong, I still think he projects to be a great player if he reaches his potential somewhat. I just think he is someone that projects to elevate his team's play more by being that steady facilitator rather than one that takes over games. Like, I think he'd be more like a Rondo than a Rose, a Billups not a Nash (in terms of impact to the team, not their playstyles or strengths).

KQ and belmonte can get away with being a wing for stretches . if they wanna be anything more than a Troy Rosario type of Gilas wing they need to be able to be a secondary ball handler or an elite elite shooter. The “big “ or 4 in college who looks the most fluid / athletic while dribbling north to south to the rim looks like it’s puno of san beda. Just don’t know if he’s 6’5 like the others . Pre also looks like a natural ball handler and can reach another level athletically once his body matures .

Puno is a legit 6'6. Maybe even taller as its been reported that he's grown taller from the time he entered san beda at 6'5. As for the dribbling thats been one of his weaknesses when the season started, good for him to work on it as the season progresses. Tho for me the most fluid big wing in the ncaa is justine sanchez, maybe anton eusebio as well.

Puno plays the 4? i haven’t watched a lot of NCAA but i was talking about 4’s the can be converted to the perimeter . Eusebio and Sanchez are already wings . Eusebio seems like a permanent potential player like Rey Guevara

Yup, even 3 at times especially when andrada and another big is on the floor. Eusebio has developed well, especially his outside shooting, its more on mental psrt of the game that needs work.

I thought that Eli has 3 playing years for Adamson and this season is his second year.

If I'm not mistaken, he's only a year younger than Dwight, who just turned 26 this year. So you do the math...

I think perimeter defense has to be a factor when looking at wings for Gilas. The wing's kind of an important defensive position.

Well, I don't know that Eli is really that old. Anyway, Adamson will still have their more important players next season.

I wonder who is trying to get Sage Tolentino. He is a better QMB, has more moves.

I dont know how true it is that DLSU is doing their best to make sure UP does not get him cos I would assume any UAAP team with a budget like UST and FEU are also in the mix.

Is Sage that good? I mean it's one thing to have more of an offensive arsenal than QMB who is more fundamentally sound.

But one thing that's neglected in assessing a player like QMB is that he does not need the ball in his hands or to make his presence felt. He is constantly directing traffic on both ends, making plays whether thats setting the perfect screen, cutting, rebounding, contesting a shot or shot blocking. The kid is frankly pro ready and he will have a very long and successful pro career.

I wonder how Sage Tolentino could come to the UAAP. Reports say he joined the Cincinnati Bearcats in 2021, and that he redshirted for a year. The latest report says he is transferring to UNC-Ashville. This means he has at the least two more college playing years in the US.

There would be two ways for him to come to the UAAP, right? First is by transferring here soon, but this means having to redshirt for a year. The second is by using up all his playing years in US colleges, while finishing a degree, and then come to the UAAP as a one-and-done masteral student. Either way, we will not see him play here in the near future.

UST over UPIS

GY2YqMibUAACrcV

UE 70
Ateneo 59

Bungar 17 pts 7 rebounds
Okebata 11 rebounds 11 points

Kallos 13 rebounds 19 rebounds

Unless Dungo gets more PT, Bahay is a lock for ROTY.

While KQ is leading the MVP race by a large margin, it's hard to be "sure"given the amount of games he'll miss.

UP just plays dirty, man. IDK how else to put it They keep taking cheap shots. Alarcon was taking liberty on Forthsky, a grounded opponent.

I know their coaches preach a physical brand of basketball but this is just cheap.
