There is something seriously wrong with briones of up, in the sense that he can be worse than useless in a tight game. He has the length and build of an athletic small forward, but doesnt have the body control, reflexes or physicality to look good either in the paint or perimeter. He is like his namesake chicozapote (sapodilla or local chico fruit) which tastes awful if not exactly ripe.
Worse, he has either poor eye-hand coordination or bad practice to earn confidence in pressure situations. Once he releases the ball, you know it will probably not go in. His defense is unmentionable. He is supposed to be the team's designated shooter, but is most unqualified for that kind of vital role.
He has the typical defects of a tall pinoy wannabe small forward. Those typical weaknesses are born from sitio-style one-on-one yabang practices. To be the best or reliable pinoy sf, one must relentlessly perfect dribble-driving against two or more defenders to tighten handles. Any pba player wannabe should really do this.
He needs to work long hours to dribble-drive flawlessly and quickly in traffic against two guards on the shaded lane. He needs to learn to use his body in hard defense without foul-prone poking. And, he definitely needs to practice the stroke-form and substance of his outside shooting with a skills coach, and hundreds of practice shots a day.
He is the opposite of same-height pretty boy paras, who was equally useless for different reasons. Paras would have been the perfect lead attack dog for a ddo offensive (you need ddo when structured game plans go bust). But, unlike kikiam of dlsu, he never understood the kind of hard work required to earn championships.
