Are you admitting that you were wrong in your statement that “UAAP gave an extra year because of Covid”?

What are you trying to prove ba? Sige for your sake im wrong, you happy? At the end of the day no matter how much you complain here, it womt change the fact qmb will play for UP next season.

Can you give an example of a
player who played 5 years in college and was allowed to
play in UAAP?

Isn’t that the five playing seasons in 7 years rule. Regardless if undergrad, graduate, transfer, local, foreign etc.

Maybe UP is banking on loopholes with pandemic rules.

Yup there could be loophole because of the pandemic, even by applying the 5 by 7 rule. Qmb in theory chould still have 1 year left. Why? Because us ncaa cancelled the 20-21 season as it was underway meaning that shouldnt count as a playing year. So yes he played for 5 years, but only 4 of those seasons were actually completed. This is the reason the us ncaa extended the all student athletes affected with another year of eligibility.

Biggest question is how does the uaap board see it. Will they count the abandoned season as a playing year or not? My guess they'll treat it similar to the past graduate transfers like rike and meeker. Not to mention if there were rumblings or protests from other team's officials we shouldve already heard it now.

Interesting case. UAAP pandemic season didn’t count towards playing years I believe for the Volleyball players as they only played about 2 games. Not sure for other sports and how 1st/2nd semester schedule counts.

Looks like QMB played 19 games (typical season 36 games) in 2020-2021 based on profile in link below. Is half season counted in playing years? I’m thinking generally accepted no, which makes him just have 4 playing years and eligible as one and done.

Same sentiments. Thats why those affected by the pandemic were also given another year of eligibility by the uaap. They also extended the age limit from 25 to 27 to accomodate it.

Siguro my biggest take away from all this.......UP has one heck of an adviser finding loopholes like this lol hahaha, i dont even wanna deep dive on the cagulangan issue but man they keep on finding ways on how to exploit the loophole in the rulebook.

And that QMB must really love studying. That one year with citadel was also a post grad year. So this stint with UP will give him his second post graduate degree lol.

Here in the US, the 20-21 season was deemed as the covid bonus year. Anyone who played that season (regardless of games played) didnt have it count against their eligibility years. So technically QMB only played 4 years of his eligibility, and UAAP/NCAA Philippines allows 5 thus giving him an extra one. I don’t even know why there is an argument here.

COVID messed alot of things up and created anomalies like this.

i think the point of contention is playing years not the masters. UAAP counts playing years at a cap of 5 . AFAIK if you play 5 years in the Phil Ncaa you cant play in the uaap anymore but why does the us ncaa differ.

They shut down the season with like a month left anyway .Thats still a playing year.

Kwetyute Graduated beda with an age young enough to play UAAP but he couldnt cause if playing yrs.

Kwekuteye played only 4 years. He skipped his final year in Season 99.

If the uaap didnt count the playing year of those volleyball players in season 82 because it got abandoned, why will they count QMB's if one of those season's was also cancelled. As petertheanteater already said if NCAA div.1 already doesnt count it too what makes the uaap different? A cancelled season is still uncompleted, no matter how many months are left, nobody was even crowned as champs, how do you count that as a playing year?

Lets be real if it wasnt qmb or UP, nobody would really care.

That's a good thing because last year Phillips destroyed UP inside. Alter was just fouling and fouling Phillips and getting outrebounded. More than Quiambao, it was Phillips that was UP's biggest headache. If QMB is better than Phillips then UP gets the title. Lopez has shown that he can disrupt the rhythm of KQ.

Actually, Udodo has matched up well against Phillips in FilOil. I think he can take the job on. Phillips does well against thinner bigs, but struggles against thicker ones. Malick is the better player, but Udodo is a better matchup against Phillips.

Alter naman has the body type to stop Mike, it’s his glaring inexperience that did him in last year.

There may be no need to wait for season 87. Up can go up against barangay ginebra in a 3 game charity series. No problem in filling up the stands.

Baka ma shock ang barangay ginebra fans na marami pala ang barangay ikot fans.:)

I was actually wondering why no one picked him up despite having a handful of good games while he was playing for UE during the pre season.

Im more suprised he joined the draft in the first place haha. It might be that he disappointed in the combine becuase even converge didnt give him a chance. His handler phenom has ties to sga.

I think Andy Gemao is already allowed to play in UAAP seniors? Jayden Jones (2006), Jacob Bayla, Zain Mahmood, Alex Konov will play already in the incoming s87. I think being 18yrs old makes you eligible to play in college (I mean 18yrs old is the age of a 1st year student). EJ Abadam and Kyle Gamber IIRC played for their respective schools right after their U18 stint is done. Renzo Competente is a year ahead of them in UAAP even they are in the same batch in the U16 2022. So maybe its a matter time Andy will suit up for UP is the US plan won't pan out.

San miguel has the habit of Taking almost an entire team's worth of picks on drafts just to maybe turn them to practice players. I guess he didnt show them anything worth their attention

Has gemao graduated high school? I believe thats the main requirement for our local college hoops. If he hasnt he wont be able to play this season.
