UAAP season 86

This season is ripe for the picking for DLSU. An intact and experienced core with size and athleticism. No excuses to lose.

I was expecting for SJ Moore (UST) and Devin Fikes (UE) to play respectable minutes. But saw otherwise.

Devin Fikes had like 3 fouls in 2 minutes so he was not fielded in anymore. Besides Sawat was doing really well.

As expected, majority of the Filfors in all teams underwhelmed. The adjustment period for them is real, they have to reprogram their brain/body to a different type of game.

And this will especially be true for admu. They have 9(?) players playing in their first uaap season maybe 10 if you include Credo, majority of which is filams. Interesting no one is labeling them as a rebuilding team despite losing Kouame, Ildefonso and Padrigao.

UP is really the overwhelming favorite, especially if you add the revenge factor. I think that "win now" order to DLSU gives them too much pressure. That pressure will bite if the team gets into a slump, especially for it's leader Nelle.

A quick look at MVP group's livestreaming apps will show you how messed up their organization is. It's like they want a new app for every tournament.

Before this year, they had CignalPlay. Then they promoted Smart Livestream for the World Cup. Now with the UAAP, they are promoting Pilipinas Live. WTF? Can't they streamline their app?

Without orders, the players know that they need to win now. 6 of them are graduating and who knows if KQ and Mike will forego their playing years.

Instead of focusing on a winning program that UP or ATENEO has, Razon just wants to focus on winning no matter what. What an idiotic approach.

I hope someone from the inner circle of The Oligarch must inform and reminded that the Great Wall of China was built more than a 1,000 years..baka mahimas masan sa magandang paliwanag.

Razon is a not a first time patron of DLSU. You guys are talking like he knows nothing of collegiate basketball.

He has been the long time sponsor before SMC came in. He is just reclaiming his throne... Dude has delivered numerous championships.

The team has 6 graduating players all of whom will probably end up in pro basketball. Plus a bunch of talented players in their early years. If this isn't the time to win, then when? Next year when all the leaders are gone? I see nothing wrong with Razon's demand. UP is the only other team as talented as they are with NU being the other legit contender. It's now or never for DLSU.

As talented as DLSU is, their kryptonite is Evan Nelle. Dude found a way to choke when San Beda was favored to win. You can hate Padrigao all you want, but he is 10x more clutch and reliable than Nelle.

As long as FEU doesn’t have decent bigs they will not reach again the Final 4 or win a ring.

For me if there is a time to make that type of ultimatum, it was last year. When the coach had years to build up the program and when they still had a guy like mvp-contender Schonny WInston.

In terms of competition, this year admu looks vulnerable (but they also looked vulnerable in the beginning of last year) and UP looks to be a juggernaut. Then you have NU and UE looking dangerous. So I wouldn't say that competition this year will be easier than last year.

But we'll see at the end of the season. Maybe Razon does know what he's doing.

Who are the graduating players of DLSU? Escandor, Manuel, Nelle, Ben, Nonoy? Might be a case of addition by subtraction for a few of those players. I don't really see an impact of something like losing a Tamayo or a Kouame.

OK, scratch Andres for this lineup.

Projected starting 5 for me would be Cagulangan, Cansino, Alarcon/Briones, Lopez, Diouf.

Malick was the only one I got right. Hahahahaha.

UP started Felicilda, Abadiano, Torres, Torculas for the other four. Goldwin experimenting early.

UP's depth could be a huge factor. Their 3rd stringers can start for most other teams.

As the inevitable injuries happen to the teams as the season progresses, their ridiculous depth could be the difference.

Defense the only thing UP's getting right. Offensively, poor execution and/or jitters.

Its highly likely that FEU will be 0-14 this season... No future... no recruits, no decent bigs and their style of play is that "classic" dribble drive offense... they are entering their dark age... what a shame.
