UP lineup for Season 86: https://www.facebook.com/reel/202825849373918

Guards: Cagulangan, Fortea, Alarcon, Abadiano, Felicilda, Torres, Gonzales, Cansino
Wings: Briones, Lopez, Torculas
Tweeners: Andres, Belmonte (hope he transitions to wing, he was used as one for a bit in the PCCL), Pablo
Bigs: Diouf, Alter, Gagate

I guess UP are set. Guess we might be seeing a ton of guard-heavy lineups this season.

This is the kind of reasonably tall team for collegiate teams in the future.

There certainly are still lots of assorted guards, including pint sized ones. But at 3, 4, and 5 positions, up is even bigger, and probably more mobile, than most pba teams already. This kind of team will likely have no serious problems against korean teams, as they also play by fiba rules and styles.

These up players are school players so i really do expect them to be more entertaining than pba teams. If the maroons are championship caliber, then the coach and his conditioning team must be quite good. Though i am outraged at the sbp sending midget guards and forwards for nts, i enjoy seeing these undersized in wild guard and small forward plays in college or mpbl -- these are where they belong.

I am not particularly interested in who wins these local tournaments -- they really are just for fun and games. But i am invested in our fiba national teams, which i think should be heavily trained and spartan conditioned for excellence in asian-level tournaments.

For some kind of reasons, the sbp is willing to send embarrassingly imbalanced, undersized, and poor-shooting national teams though. The sbp clearly is not in the serious business of forming national team pools from u15 to u21. It also does not schedule and finance quarterly training tournaments for each age group. Instead, it still remains a mere pba marketing promotion group.

Obviously, the pinoy national teams must be even bigger, stronger and quicker gunslingers than these mere uaap or ncaa college boys if ever we want to be competitive with the likes of australia -- the asian performance benchmark today.

Just like what (Razon) said, there are only two types of people in this world — winners and losers. No in-between,[/B] so we always have to strive to be the best. Nobody wants to associate themselves with losers, as he mentioned.

I'm not sure about that approach. Win now at all cost.

If you want to consistently contend year in and year out, you have to have a winning system in place that will continuously bring out the best in the players. And that type of program takes patience. UP did not just suddenly come out of the blue, Gold and some of his key players have been together a long time. And ADMU has had Tab in control of the program for a long time.

This might force Topex to take shortcuts in his process.

Coach Pitbull really needs to deliver otherwise…hmm..

Oh dear I felt very cringy if indeed that statement is the complete one coming from one of the main bosses.

The former mentor of the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters, along with his companions from the Green Archers, the three Phillips brothers, arrived late for the league’s pre-tournament press conference at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, despite being present well before the event began.

It turns out that he and the players were summoned by tycoon Enrique Razon, who serves as one of the team’s boosters. The CEO of International Container Services Inc. gave his marching orders for the upcoming campaign.

Ricky Bobby mentality, If you’re not first, your last

this could be counterproductive

Instead of focusing on a winning program that UP or ATENEO has, Razon just wants to focus on winning no matter what. What an idiotic approach.

UE's Precious Momowei looks like the most skilled among this batch of FSAs

pero he's a one-and-done player right? I guess its better to save him for next season when all those doing residency are cleared to play. Tigers not expected to be competitive this year anyway

Check Naveen’s article about Gjerard Wilson transferring to UE from UST. Chase Lane might be at risk of missing Season 86 due to academics. So there. Besides he is playing at Sulit Breakdown Basketball League where UST is fielding 2 teams.

Wilson's really good, great passing arm good dribbler, he's good enough to go pro
