Hearing that Demisana to ADMU is hitting a snag because UP is trying to get him to stay or, with the Laos' help, transfer to CSB. Heard that there are threats he won't be cleared from HS if he pushes through with going to Ateneo.

Pretty wild how the lengths UP and their backers are willing to go. Especially when it's clear this is the best road for the kid to get the development he sorely needs (could be developed into a taller William Navarro or Justine Baltazar type player if he pushes through). Most selfish management and backers I've seen since FEU and Jerie Pingoy.

CSB ain't a bad option, though. Charles used Will Gozum as a Carl Tamayo-like player.

But yeah, Ateneo's the best chance if we want Gab to be a better version of Balti. A taller Navarro, even better. And with the FSA ban in the NCAA, that might hinder Gab's development.

ok, so lets stay in that thought then. i checked the RA and it has no monetary value in it. lets say all school have the same benefit. what do we want to happen? we want all the athlete spread around? so a 6'5 wing stay in a school where he is the tallest and be a used as a big? or stop fil Filipinos raised in other countries to play college ball in the Philippines because they dont have incentive to do so? there will be less incentive for FSA to move in as well. im not saying this will be all true 100% of the time, but wouldnt the cahnges you want bring us back to how UAAP was in the 80's and early 90's.

My bent though is more on the top players staying less in a school, go pro as quickly as possible, to the point that players go pro after 1-2 years in college. I mean, if you wanna earn quickly and are good enough to do so, go pro. That's why I'd want the RA enforced, so that they'd chase more money going pro if they feel like they have a better chance earning there.

You present a good point on development, though. What if the player lands with the wrong coach?

SBU should tell maroons management thatbif they hand Demisana to CSB they too will have the hardest time getting hubilla.

Lol you talk about these players like they're commodities. Have you considered what Gab himself wants? He's been pretty vocal to his circles in Bacolod that he wants to go to Ateneo but your school is the one holding him back. Just because CSB isn't a bad option, that makes it ok? Crazy.

I also want that for him, to go to Ateneo, because 1) We have a logjam thanks to our recruitment; and 2) Tab's one of the best developers in the country.

Sorry, man. Look, yes, I'm from UP, but I'm not happy about UP's overrecruitment either because it could hold players back, especially Gilas prospects. I didn't look at it from a viewpoint of holding him back instead of doing what's best for him.

Exactly why I don't understand why UP is so against letting him go when they were comfortable offering and giving Lopez and Bahay what they wanted. They dug their own grave regarding Kobe and want to prevent him from what he himself wants and he himself feels is best for him. Quite draconian, ironic coming from UP pa.

I am waiting for UP fanboy Inghinyero's take on this.

Giving Demisana a hard time, if true, gives a bad look to UP. It is bad enough theyve been recruiting any prized star left and right, PT be damned. Now they are sabotaging a graduate's career? This is even worse than what SMB did in JMFs prime. They hoarded all the bigs that could be a possible competitor to JMF. But they allowed these guys to transfer if it was not working out. This is next level greediness.

I dont like insinuating. But it seems UP has been ultra aggressive in recruitmeny ever since Remulla came into the picture. I hope this is not because of him. Because it seems something that a corrupt politician might do. Not saying that he is. It is just a bad look that a politician has replaced a legit business person as the most visible booster of UP. Where does a politician who has no visible businesses compared to say a Gokongwei get the money?

The Remullas own Island Cove, and they sold it a couple of years ago for around a billion, I forgot. Gov also personally owns the cockpits in Cavite, but as usual its not under his name (open secret in the gamblers' circle)

Im sure he has other "sources" of income pa.

It seems UP is trying to mirror what DLSU did before (Franz-led youth team to DLSU). Get all recruits, succession planning and proper development be damned, just so that opposing teams can't have them. Didn't do DLSU any good because the rapid turnover of players (due to transfers and new recruits) made it hard to properly develop and implement a system. They just wasted Danding's money back then.

how would you divide the minutes for alter, gagate and fsa at the center position. gagate will not benefit from this. up should only recruit in terms of needs. they over did it.

If this is true, it sucks that UP indeed has become greedy. So much so, they're willing to prevent someone's growth. At this point though, I'm confused because there's a battle internally as to who should be handling the high school team. My guess is that if there's an entity making it difficult for KD to graduate/leave UP, might not be the UPMBT management but the juniors team. My hunch is that KD might have been so sure about going to UP for college that he may have missed some requirements during the UAAP season and they might be a bit more lenient since they know he'll go to UP. But now that he's possibly going to Ateneo, made it harder for him to complete and make up for his misses. Whatever it is, I hope that UPIS will just leave him be.

Not the first school to it though disappointing if true. This would scare some prospects off from joining their JR team..

Heh, FSA, Alter, Gagate, Stevens, Pablo, Torculas, Belmonte. Who's getting shafted? What more if they end up getting QMB.

Why would you go after QMB after recruiting those bigmen. It's just a waste of resources. Getting 3 of those names are already a good haul.

I will play Gagate at PF not C. Alter is taller and hence a better rim deterrant. Gagate's rim protection didn't exactly wow in HS. So I don't expect that from him in college. I expect them to develop him like Tamayo.

so if Diuof does an oraeme, what will they do? if someone needs to be held back due to academics? if a player left for whatever reason? hintay nlng next year to recruit again instead of having someone who has a year under his belt with the team?

the Team manager and the coach need to build the best team possible and recruit whoever to achieve this. UP, having a good coaching staff and backers to help the team, should encourage whoever they recruit to be better for themselves and for the team. to thrive. if the student thinks its better to leave, then leave. but that is the players decision to make. not the team management.

i wonder what the coach would feel if a player he could have recruited, he let go and beats his team in the finals. pretty sure whoever pays the salary will give him an earful for negligence.

I think nobody is a fan of UP's talent hoarding. UP fans saying other schools are just salty are delusional. UP without all that money is not as attractive as they think compared to Ateneo and La Salle.
