UAAP season 86

UP lost by like a possession. If they make one or two more shots they are champions .They didn’t and from being lauded as a coach now he’s being called overrated .

It’s make or miss and there’s not that much coaching being done in finals games usually. All playbooks are known, tendencies are known. You can introduce new wrinkles here and there but the players still have to execute . You shouldn’t be judging coaches based of single games just not fair. It should be the entirety of the program.

Sir I think the roster spots for next season are already filled up? Its just formality?

FSA - Agunane / Alao - 2 yrs already in team B / add Marasigan, Melencio, Rubico & Alian.

Re: bullshit surrounding the men's team - kindly PM nalang sir. Im curious

I just have misgivings towards having Jonvic as a backer. Also, the social media posts trashing the UP men's basketball team throughout the season. Not drama within the team itself, which I'm not familiar with. And the overrecruitment. What's the point if we can't develop players quickly?

Nah. Topex clearly does a lot of the coaching. You can tell when someone is advising and when someone is actually doing the strategizing.

Sometimes during timeouts I'd see either Topex, Caloy or Gian Nazario making plays in their white board. I guess what works, works.

I judge it as i see it. No matter the score, they still lost, even with all the talent that team had. And the fact that you mentioned that if they did make those shots kinda support the point that he his overrated because who's calling the shots in the first place? Will his team still make it to the finals if he didnt have those high caliber of players playing for him? I dont think so. Were the players themselves deciding to jack up those long range shots when they could have just pound it in the paint where they were already effective. If he's allowing the players to call play themselves and him not to make the neccessary adjustments just means he aint doing his job right. Basketball is game of adjustments and this is the championship game. Coaches need to coach carries the same weight as players need to play. And no im not judging him in this single game, as they also lost last year even tho they were also heavily favored to win. I mean all those over recruitments and hocus pocus rule changes and just 1 championship to show for? If we're criticizing tab for all his miscues this season, arent we supposed to hold this UP team to higher standard too?

I think sir they also have Coach Toroman as a "consultant" in a smaller capacity?

He was at the venue, he is under the Laos, the Laos also support UP MBT.

Toroman isnt connected whatsover to UP. He works exclusively for SGA. He just tagged along with the lao's who i cant deny still 'supports' UP.

No.

Agunanne will definitely replace Nwanko since they can only have one FSA and Agunanne is more skilled (by a lot).

DLSU is losing Ben Phillips and most likely KQ, so that's a big hit to their frontline. I don't know if there's anyone in their pipeline who is a 3/4.

Melencio probably replaces Manuel.

The guard situation is the most iffy.

Yea , i just don’t think it’s fair to say Gold is a bad coach because they lost. There’s just more nuances than that. The team shot horrid from 3. The players were tight . That’s not on coaching.
You can say they didn’t maximize their depth and the players got gassed etc .

You can say tab was off for playing small pg’s and over extending quitevis etc.

Watch out for forward Jake Gaspay. Athletic, versatile and blue collar worker. With him, it pushes further the chances of Buensalida of making it to team A next year.

I think Abadam and Vhoris Marasigan takes the places of Escandor and Manuel.

they also matt jucom. jucom and vhoris will probably have the galman/austria situation.

So.... Did Topex shoot himself to the top with local coaches for Gilas?

Never said coach gold was a bad coach. Just overrated. If he didnt have those boosters, the support of the community, the kind of players he has on his team. This wouldnt have been the case. He maybe a good coach, but from what im seeing he's more of a player's coach than x and o's coach and as others have pointed out, topex clearly made the adjustments and outcoached gold. He aint even calling the shots on defense. That's back to back season he got outcoached in the finals, and if it werent for that cagulangan 3 in season 84 finals, he may not have even won anything.

Yes we know they shot terrible at the 3, what we don't know is why they still kept jacking it when they were already shooting 56% inside the the arc, not to mention diouf went 10 for 11 in 2pt fgs. Besides its only a 1 possession game, yet they went scorless for 6 minutes in the 4th qtr. La salle's Defense wasnt even that tight, since UP rushed those shots as well. Again did coach gold made the proper adjustments? Now that's on the coaching staff.

Honestly, this is what I really hate about the new batch of UP "supporters". It felt like they got spoiled rotten after that championship. I wonder if they'd also have the same frustrations as that of the La Salle alumni asking whoever is managing the team's head be severed and served on a silver platter if Coach Gold continues to sputter

I think the trashing was from Ateneo and UST accounts. Most UP fans I know support the team, wholeheartedly. A lot of UP supporters defended the players and the team.

well this ain't the first time they .... "choked" 1 out of 3? is that good enough for a team that was expected to win it all and had fans who were already considering them a dynasty?

Yeah it's probably these new college kids because they're the ones I heard complaining during the UP losses. Like what I said, spoiled since they probably never saw the struggle of the old UP teams

This is news to me. I thought Lao senior was an Ateneo booster, particularly when his son was there. They're now supporting UP?

They're not with ateneo anymore, they left once jacob graduated. The elder lao i think has connections to UP. Don't consider them as UP boosters tho, they just help the basketball program from time to time. Thats the reason csb got eusebio when he left the team

doesnt support the hoarding, I can live on blue collar workers in up bench, they might even suit goldwin style anyways, harold alarcon is a 5'11 sf..

If Coach Oliver Bunyi's arrival in La Salle was earlier, is there a chance that Allen Liwag will join him?

Nope, even if he loved coach oliver, he and his people at eog management is smart enough to know dlsu is loaded in his position, he also prefers to play in other semipro leagues which the uaap doesnt allow. It was really between beda and benilde, but since liwag has close ties to delta, while eog naman is connected to the Lao's, he went to taft, the other side that is.
