UAAP season 86

La Salle can afford to bench its FSA because they have the best defensive local big in Phillips. Before him it was Balti. Of course they are far from the level of Diouf or Kouame before him. But when the FSA sits the defense really goes dowm. Lucero before handled secondary rim protection when Diouf sits down. Tamayo or Gallinato clogs up the paint while Lucero can swoop in for blocks. They dont have that luxury now. Thats why I think they will be vulnerable next year with Dioufs graduation even with Gani.

Cansino is gone as well right? So it's a must win for both teams.

When my dad and I were watching the UP-La Salle game, he commented that the defensive schemes in the UAAP have improved, moreso than in the PBA.

Cansino, Malick, Cagulangan are gone after this season.

It’s just unfortunate 6’5 guard/forward Briones not getting some playing time. It will be an even tougher season next year for him with Andres, Coronel, Hubilla and Walker coming in. One or a couple may not be accommodated in 2024.

Ito ang ayoko sa recruitment ng UP, e. They recruit a bit too much without developing them quickly.

They do have their replacement FSA already in Udodo. He's not as tall as Malick Diouf, but he will enter UP with FIVE playing years possible. That's huge if he turns out to be more than serviceable.

It's actually DLSU who I think will struggle more next season. Losing Nelle and likely KQ will be even more painful than UP's losses. I do not think any of the PGs in DLSU's pipeline are on par with Nelle's playmaking. Agunanne is much better (and taller and stronger) than UP's incoming FSA though, I'll give them that.

I can't imagine how Gagate will fit into the rotation next season. If he wants not to waste playing years, he should transfer right away after this season. Do a Will Gozum.

Of the guys mentioned, I think Andres is the odd man out. The other three are much better than him.

Even in La Salle, Andres was the odd man out. UP was always gonna be an uphill battle for him. But who knows, maybe he is willing to spend 2 team B years like Buensalida is currently for DLSU.

well, walker plays the two and can play the 1 in stretches so that leaves more room for the wings. the wings are not that loaded imo so it's fine. it's the bigs talaga that's overcrowded. would've been better to get a smaller import that plays a position of greater need.

Can aguanne play the 4 next to Mike? if he can theyd be fine. Dlsu probably will look for one and dones if they have a starter who isnt ready

Could have been Estacio if he stayed. Alternating with David. I guess it's now Alao and David. But David is more of a scorer than a facilitator.

He's going pro. From the looks of it, his only destination in Asia is the PBA or Taiwan. He can only play in Japan if he has played for Gilas as a local.

For me, if the target is pba, he should have just used up that last playing year.

In my opinion I think BalIungay probably got an offer from somewhere, usually big name players only leave the UAAP early if they have a standing offer from a foreign pro league.
