Turkish Prospects

Excuse me for my english.

Erkan Yilmaz is one of my favorite players and has clear EL role player potential. He is a better/clear potential as many other turkish prospects but his name is not big enough, you know in Turkey you must have "protection". Erkan was already 2015 the real MVP of the U18 turkish championship(no Furkan Korkmaz for Pertev in that tournament). In 2016 he was in the A-team of Banvit(big mistake of Banvit) instead of Bandirma Kirmizi. 2017 many games for Bandirma and some very good ones. 2018 for Yesilgiresun and dumbass coach ahmet kandemir with no playing time.

And last season second division Mamak. He has clear EL and NT potential and for me it would be not very big surprise if he is already best turkish player of this BJK-team. We have many SFs therefore he maybe doesn´t look very important but he is different type of player, you don´t need Egehan Arna-Okben Ulubay-Tolga Gecim at the same time. Erkan has impact at both sides, not big scorer but good IQ and he can also play PG and differencemaker at defence. Shot will be important for his career.

look at this fersu trash........

Serkan Erdogan hates talent but loves players with no future(Doruk Dora, Eray Aydogan(too low IQ), Erkin Senel, Yigit Baran Sarikaya).

thank you, TfG!

this is encouraging, hope Yilmaz gets the opportunity now with Ivanovic. I'd really liked how bold he was around the rim. (Fersu's opinion is not worth bothering with).

I realized we are almost always on the same page as to the prospects, but I was more hopeful than you are on Senel. He stayed behind his peers on senior level, but I had witnessed his improvement as a deadly shooter during u18 two years ago. I hope he did not regress. We'll see soon.

I fully agree with everything has been said for Erkan Yılmaz here. He actually had such a terrific season until some point (They had problems with payment and Yılmaz' performance declined a bit because of this undesired situation but nevermind) with Mamak. I like his dynamism and determination which will always sell him in senior level basketball. As it is said, he has never been hyped hardly unlike his famous peers, but with the development he has shown so far he gives a very clear message to basketball followers that he is going to be a very good hustler type of player! He is giving his 100% to whatever he is doing on court. I will be glad to have him under Besiktas jersey.

The turkish U16 nt played yesterday and today twice against slovenia in slovenia and we won both games. At that age the player dont know much about tactics and team basketball. Skillwise Bona showed that he is too measured for the other guys. grabbed today 15 rebounds but for his capabilities he is still very restricted referring to his offensive skills. I am also against to let him play two tournaments or more. Individual training is currently more important.

Hasan Efe Uzun (alias uzun Hasan) :D showed also some nice proprieties. Koralp as mentioned here before too short for his position and too slow for other positions. Its too early for making final decision about player but I dont see much chance to become professional.

Bülent Hamza Celik is very tall and can shoot from everywhere and has nice quick legs but too soft. My favorites from 2003 are Ege Peksari, Batin Tuna, Adem Bona and uzun Hasan.

Guys our Yurt made in a game 34 points! He was more or less NBA ready 2 seasons ago and by seeing him and with those stats 16/22 fgp 2/4 three pointer i am really eager to watch him next season. He could really be our highest draftpick!

Is this Omer Faruk Yurtseven?
This means you think he will be drafted from No:2?

Oh I see you refer to Kanter. I wasnt thinking of him. As Center you cant be drafted that high except you are exceptionally talented, so second is nearly impossible but i expect him to be a lottery pick.

where did he make that 34pts?
He was not in any of the mock drafts I've seen so far, so lottery sounds like a massive jump out of nowhere. Hope he does it, of course.

He was late first rounder 2 seasons ago and he didnt play then for a whole season because he changed the school because he wanted to work with Patrick Ewing. Its not difficult to be in the mocks again. As far as I can see he will dominate the whole ncaa. He looks like a beast.

As far as I know he had a pretty good second season with NC State up until he decided to join Georgetown where he will be coached by Patrick Ewing. Now he will be be eligible to play for two more seasons in the NCAA so let’s hope that he learns as much as he can from Ewing. I am sure that he will be an NBA player one day if he is healthy.

For now we should hope that he plays for Turkey as I think he can contribute for the team in the WC. If he shows good potential the scouts will see it too.

He wont play for the wc... :D

Very bad start of our U20 team against Great Britain. Still won but it was most likely the worst game of Hazer so far. Very bad from the 3 point line. Also free throws were a big issue. Couldnt use Saybir properly. Mert Akay and Berke Atar were the cornerstones. No need to worry we probably were not very motivated against GB.

Sehmus Hazer indeed played terribly, in every part of the game. I think this was just a bad game. Bitim was good in fist half then disappeared. at least he showed the flashes of caring, so it's something.
GB shot the ball atrociously too. they are athletic, they have a smooth shooter in Queeley, a Tractor Traylor in Kitenge, but they were extra clumsy.

Alperen Sengün was chosen as MVP in the baltic cup. He played with 28 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists, made 2/3 three pointer and had a 60% fgp.

Nobody since Kanter was so dominant in the paint. Wish him good luck in BSL this season.

Will Bandirma Ihtisas definitely give him minutes with Berke?

If they dont sign a big, of course or differently said there are three options... Ercan Osmani, Berke Atar and Alperen Sengün and they will compete for minutes. I think Atar is the weakest one. I consider Sengün ready. He will struggle at the beginning but I expect him to take serious minutes. They will check the three guys out before signing a big for cheap money. Struggling is not a big deal though. I will follow my team with joy.

The U20 tournament is over and watched almost all games of Turkish NT and made a small recap of our players:

The number in front of the name represents my estimated potential of the player from a 10 being e.g. NBA material and a 1 being the Turkish amateur league (or my level :P). Please bear in mind, this is potential and not by any means current skill or the likelihood of someone reaching their potential. As for example I estimate Onuralp Bitim has a lower chance of ever reaching his potential than Mert Akay or Sehmus Hazer.

8 - Muhaymin MUSTAFA
Could become a useful player at top teams of TBL and maybe even at NT level. Good shooting already and athletic and right mindset. Needs to work on his ball handling skills.

8 - Sehmus HAZER
One of the most consistent performers of this squad. Excellent willingness and hustle (comparable with Balbay, but with better fundamentals) and defender. Needs to work on his shooting however.

9 - Mert AKAY
Can be the new point guard of the NT. Good size, good court vision and good aggressiveness on the court.

6 - Emre TANISAN
Looked like a decent long guy. Did not show any bad plays during his time on the court.

8 - Yigitcan SAYBIR
Has a lot of potential, however needs to work on his offensive game and shooting. Also looked too passive on the field, especially on offence.

3 – Eray AYDOGAN
No place on this team. Lacks athleticism at this level and lacks any offensive or defensive skills. Unless he develops extremely in the next few years, he will not get any significant minutes on any TBL team.

9 – Onuralp BITIM
Has the highest ceiling of all. Has some shooting ability, has excellent athleticism. He only tries to create his own shot most of the time and should diverse his offensive skill set.

6 – Erkin SENEL
Lacks the athleticism for this level. However is an above average shooter and showed some offensive skills during the playing time he got in the last few games.

6 – Doruk DORA
Did not play a lot, but looked decent. Did not make any big mistakes during games and did shoot well.

8 – Sadik Emir KABACA
Youngest guy on the team and did show some promising moves during the games. Has a feel for the game (some good assists) and has good size. Should work on his body to get more physical.

5 – Yigit Baran SARIKAYA
Did not play a lot.

8 – Ragip ATAR
Should be one of our long guys in the NT in the future and showed some good post-moves already at this age. Can become a dominant center IF he keeps developing.. However also made a lot of mistakes. What struck me most was his inability to catch a lot of passes from his teammates. He needs to work on this, as he made a lot of easy turnovers this way. In addition, he should move on his free-throws.

Hey Nakz, great to see you back!

i hope you hang around for u18 and u16 too.

Hey Levenspiel,

Will try to watch some u18 games next week. U16 I’ll probably skip :)
