Turkish Prospects

The NT is not in need of a center, a promising forward would be great for the time after Osman but what the NT needs desperately are guards who can create advantages. Mert Akay might not be the most talented guard but he was what the NT is in need of. The next big loss was Demir Dogan who would have become a good piece for the NT despite the limitations in shooting.

The 2009 generation is very talented and its by far not only Omer Kutluay. Although I do see some dangers in his development he has tremendous value to offer. First of all the guy has a mindset of a role player. He hardly demands the ball. His motor does not look very high either. On the other hand he is very smart and he can overcome double pressure easily due to his passing abilities and his ball control. He recognized mismatches immediately.

He is not the fastest or the most athletic guy at least for now. For the U-tournaments he is a walking mismatch but I need to watch him as a finished product. Right now he has a strength problem for sure and despite his size he is a perimeter guy. He has a tremendous shooting touch despite the percentages of the tournament. A guy like Kutluay will deliver tons of open looks for him. A guy with positional size, the ability to put the ball on the floor and a shot is always NBA material.

Lets talk about Kartal Bora Simsek a bit. This guy is very talented yes but he makes me crazy because of his careless attitude. He makes way too many unnecessary TO but his shot looks much better than a couple month ago. He just needs to add more offensive skill set in time.

BTW I am really amazed by the game of the little guy of Antalya, Utku Yasam. He is the brave heart. He and the big man Kemal Batu Copur. Kemal is not very nimble but he has an amazing foot work for his age and a good touch and he understands the game very well. We have a little Alperen Sengun here. Not so much of an energy ball like Alp but still very solid. 1000 times better than this Emir Karabulut.

Omer Yusuf Shik did also very well. Especially his pull up mid range jumper look good but he disappeared when the team needed him the most but a talented guy just not a leader.

Utku Yasan 20 points, 5 rebounds, 12 assists!!!! 6 steals, 7 TO. Bravo little guy!!!!

Btw I m not saying elitas isnt talented or doesnt have potential but even guys like omer yurtseven and egemen guven didnt become solid players thats why I m very hesitant with bigs who are still this young

Simsek-kutluay-darius-ozturk-elitas

will be very interesting to watch! Even though he doesnt have big potential even ozturk is a very good side piece for these level of basketball.

Omer Yurtseven was always a soft ass big. You never know who turns out to be great. You just interpret their behavior and style. Some are born to be great others are late bloomers again others lose their advantages because they dont develop in the right way. Nobody says that Elitas is born to be great. He has good fundamentals to be a very good player.

I like Ozturk very much! Not an NBA prospect but a very smart guy and a solid piece for Europe.

Ethem Aras Atli - Omer Yusuf Sik - Furkan Kaan Mustecep - Noyan Tolan - Kemal Batu Copur is my bench from the games I watched.

Anil alyanak suprised me a lot during the fiba u16 run but I havent kept up with him this year... also he cant really shoot thats why I compared elitas with kabaca because they both have a smooth jumper with similar body types

Kartal Bora Simsek gives me headache. I seldom saw such a careless guy. A very bad decision maker but he slashes well to the rim.

Darius Carutasu, where is your ballhandling? Even months are very important at these ages and especially for a player like this who is still growing. If he is losing his ballhandandling then its over for him.
Very bad showing but in 2 months things could be again different but very very bad signs here for him.

He needs a bit help, he needs someone who can create some advantages. He is not at the level to create everything by himself. He needs to get faster and stronger, a lot stronger.

OK, the good is we have many player who can step up when needed the most. Kartal Bora Simsek and Darius Carutasu the biggest upsets in this tournament. Kartal is too sloppy and tries to play too risky passes to the weak side and his passes are not accurate. I think I put Omer Yusuf Shik to my starting five.

Only one guy from the champion and runner up but two guy from the third one. I do not know the stats but Ethem Aras should be in the top 5 or you can give it to the point leader.

Kartal Bora can not be in a serious role in the national team. Guy shoots it like he is a good shooter but his three point percentage should be like %10 and makes too many turnovers. He can come from bench and put some energy and effort.
