Turkish Prospects

Derin Can Ustun finished the U18 tournament being one year younger with a near triple double.

The good: he has a very reliable mid range shot and can pull up from anywhere, he is a very reliable catch and shoot guy and his pull ups look very solid. Derin is a willing defender who has some issues with lateral movements and strength but he is also a very solid rebounder and has good instincts. Looks like a combo guard.

The bad: he must learn to finish with his weak hand. His creations at the rim look solid but he often fails to finish because of this hand and because of the contact. He must increase his strength and his stamina but this is not a big problem. His ball control has some flaws and needs work.

The ugly: If there is something that limits him, it is his lack of explosiveness and athleticism.

He is not at the level I expected him to be but the final conclusion will be in the next years U18

Wow, I like this team.

All players come here to play unlike u18 team and almost all of them have more or less some upsides.

Ziyaettin looks like Dragic and he is one of my favorite players. He has shooting, ball handling, defence except his height. I really like him.

For me, Koyun is the best big in this team at least offensive end. There is lack of playing time and responsibility for him. Guys do not pass to ball him a lot. But there is a problem in defensive end. He loses his focus and looks like slow foot. He looks like a smart guy.

On the other side, Alyanak does not look smart for high level. He has some physical tools but I do not like his decisions.

Of course, they are still young and things may change though time.

What a summer. When we get good guard prospects everything else lacks. This team needed one center, our 1 vs 1 defense looked horrible. No forward can score in this team. We needed to play Koyun for 40 minutes.

Ziyaettin was on fire. 35 points of a guard. His defense is bad though but he has a natural born shooting ability and can additionally put the ball on the floor. Omer Kutluay took in the third quarter over. He looked very solid being one year younger.

I asked somebody who met Omer one week ago and he said that Omer is around 1,88-1,90 tall.

Misha Atakan is here because of the good connections of his father. He has zero future, zero. He is a bit useful here but zero potential, zero future therefore no place for him.

Man what will you tell me about Erkin Kas? I read positive comments about him and tried to watch Besiktas games but cant focus on him because he has simple zero talent. I you kidding me? what is this for a feel for following interesting prospects?

Kerem Andic has made a good jump for his situation but he must make huge jumps and this will not happen.

Alex Koyun is not bad but the problem is he has zero chances to be interesting. He is almost born in 2009 but sometimes you reached your potential in a very young age and exactly this happened to Alex Koyun. Totally mature physicallity wise and gamewise and therefore not interesting for us.

Atilla Gulecyildiz(PF, Besiktas) is injured therefore not here. Berk Catalay(PF/C, Efes) couldnt help here but he is interesting and could be at a total different level in 2 years for example.

Ibrahim Kutluay 197-8, Omer Kutluay under 190 and Alperen Sengun 205. This is the reality. With 15 Furkan Korkmaz was real 193, not on paper. Omer Kutluay has still enough time but next year he should add 5-6 cm to relise his potential.

Yes what Toruko now wrote is correct. He must slowly start adding several cm.

Sadly he probably will be around 6'5 when he's 19-20. Too short for the nba.... if he was like 6'7 or 6'8 he could have been a top 5 nba prospect he's really that talented

His father was 6'6 and I think he wont be shorter than him after being full-fledged. 6'7 would be great but it is something you cant influence.

However bogdan bogdanovic is like 6'6 and I feel like omer can become a similar type of player so let's see

Omer Kutluay is truly special but Ziyaettin is trash. His defense is trash, he cant pass, he does not have a quick first step, he cant create advantages on drives. He is just a new Melih Mahmutoglu who can play with the ball.

I have no time with my bad english to discribe how big talent Omer Kutluay is. Just fantastic for turkish bb. And he is doing that with this unbeliviable unmature body, do you know what that means? It couldnt be better as this, unbealiavable weak but this performance. Ibrahim Kutluay. There is much more as the father who loves his kid. Ibos ego is unmatched in turkish bb. Ibo was even almost biggest sportsstar 2-3 years in Turkiye with his lifestyle and charisma. And beside hakan sukur he was the man of erdogan but he lost his place to hedo. Ibo will push his son even more for his own lagacy and this will be great for turkish bb.

Its really astonishing how easily he scores with this immature body. He is resilient and strong enough to make tough finishes though and I love his defense. I mean I watched all our 3 previous youth tournaments and we have some very solid guard potentials.

Emre Melih Tunca - Derin Can Ustun - Kaan Onat

All of them have strong sides and weak sides but Omer Kutluay is something different. I know its way too early and I really dont want to get carried away but this is really Alperen Sengun tier

I will make my final decision next year in the U16 tournament again but as long as he stays with Real Madrid we can be sure his progress will be linear.

I am so full of him, I think we could give him a role in the NT in 2027, maybe a small one but we should integrate him asap.

Might be special, but he's 15yo. I like him, but maybe next year will show more. Your wish to camp him to the NT being 18yo is very rare. We can see that Topic didn't make Serbian roster as special guard. Kutluay should be as special as young Rubio to make NT I think. Maybe for guards short Turkey the standards of making the team a bit lower but still. ATM I don't see it, but next year will be more evident.

Now I see special feel for the game and talent, but no Rubio physicality. I don't see truly elite burst and athleticism (for Euro standards even). He might develop that, but might also not. So will see. That's my main issue. The shot, handles, passing - he has it all. But the question is - athleticism, explosiveness, toughness, physicality, feet work, agility. It seems that he might be too finesse player and non contact player too much. But it seems you might be having some kind of Teodosic at worst case scenario. In that case, not NBA true material, but still maybe be good enough to be true floor general and essentially true lead guard.

But it's really a talk about 30s. Now 15yo won't lead Turkey to any bigger wins this decade.

Actually, he is physical, he does not shy away from contact and defends very well and is very jumpy despite being not ready.

Its way too early to decide it.

The only thing that will lower his value is lack of height but he is very tough.
