David Mutaf's performance this season is progressing exactly in the line with the expectations I expressed earlier. He doesn't promise a hope for a higher level. He fails to be a more effective offensive weapon on the court. Apart from shooting, his abilities are really limited, so even in a team like Bursa where offensive diversity is weak, he can't be a main offensive weapon when he gets those minor minutes. He is almost non-existent in ball movement, only taking on a finishing role, with low passing quality and inability to direct the ball. I'm not even touching on the defensive aspect because he can't keep up with his opponents, he constantly receives negative grades in defense, which is the biggest reason why he doesn't get playing time, especially in critical moments.
He's a player who shines like a flash in the pan on his good days. This creates expectations among people. Especially this season, there are a few games, notably in the BCL, where he played quite well (or shot well, it's hard to say he is playing basketball, he just shoots). However, he is far from showing consistent performance throughout the season.
This season is really crucial for Mutaf as a reference, but it becomes a season where what he couldn't do overshadows what he did. Unless there's a big miracle, he will continue to have mediocre performances for the rest of the season except for a few games. When he returns to Gran Canaria, it's evident that he won't be more than a bench warmer. In lower-middle level Turkish teams, he might get a contract for the next season based on a few good scoring games that he output. However, the Euroleague level is a distant possibility due to his defensive vulnerability and offensive one-dimensionality, which is not even worth discussing.
