Turkish Prospects

Despite being good Konan cant fill the role of Buyuktuncel because he cant produce with the ball in his hands. Buyuktuncel will always be the more valuable player but Buyuktuncel needs to activate his pick and roll upside at some point.

Who is praising Saran just because of his last name? Peope do not talk about him for that surname reason its just stem from your imperfect perspective. Just because kid's family is famous you cannot talk this sort of bullshit. He has attracted attention since glimpsed in a positive way over the past two years. You devalue the things he does perfectly by finding her so-called flaws for freshmen. Firstly you have to define his game profile delicately. He is a not a pass first pg its very clear and but he does not make turnovers as well as not the clumsy with ball particularly very good ballhandler. Even if the basketball level is not that challenging in his conference still not that easy to dominate against those athletic freaks as freshmen. He made a perfect decision and wanted to play basketball while his freshmen season. Look at Jan Vide he takes 2 minutes per game. Also how about Ege Tan yildizoglu? Since you were saying he will be end up perfect pro player. He is also playing 3.2 pts avarage per game in a conferrance where the quality is "low". Also the American basketball style is pushing you induviduality and Saran is perfectly delivers in order to presence in that ambient. Turkish basketball badly needs ballhandler who can create for himself and dynamically drive the rim for scoring. Also his shooting is promising in the long run. Since he has plent of time to improve his game I am quite optimist his future and he will be worked good coaches and will gain experiences to pro basketball. Kid is freshmen and the tools what he has very rare in Turkish basketball. He will take over from Sipahi and Ugurlu and take into account the flaws of these two "pro's" before too harsh on Saran.

As for the U-20 camp Derin said byhimself that he was injury in that peried and left the national team for that season but you do not miss any chance to make criticism to this kid without know the details.

Derin will be good its for sure. Surely has some rooms to improve but will have plenty of time to overcome.

Another family with the money and impact of the Sarans would be much more active in hyping a family member, since 1-2 years we can see some a bit "show" articles about him but this is not too much. He even never was a real NT-player. If the Sarans would force this, coach Fikret Dogan would had no chance. He looked unbelievable talented in 2016 in the junior league all star game, even from that game the Saran family didnt upload anything from this show to youtube. This generation had a lot of games with the NT, even at U14 and this was the only team in which Derin Saran was a member of and he had even very solid showing and more importantly he looked just very talented in those games, but even there Tan Yildizoglu & Yigit Tekin both had bigger roles, all games were on youtube.

If you see the young Derin Saran the only thing you could say about this kid is, he is a natural born talent and should have a very bright future. The key was his baby body, if kid is so talented and has this baby body, he can only be better in the next years, but the thinks dont went that way. 1 year later he was by far the most talented player of the U13 turkish championship but after that season very unexpected things happened. He was not dominant at U14 and he had 2 more seasons in Turkiye and in the last season(corona-season 2020) he was already 180 and had muscles but he was just solid, not good or great, this was for me the reason to lose the big interest in Derin Saran. Its really a big surprise because those kind of players with natural talent and very unmature body can only be better in the next years just for example like Melih Tunca, Omer Ege Ziyaettin. Omer Ege was for example always very good but he is now even better againgst his opponents as previous years because his physical disadvantages are now fewer.

Yes turks are too focused in stats, how big is your role in the U-NT etc. Its really sad that we even read posts about Tan Yildizoglus game in this forum. Does really anyone think that Yildizoglu is a better player or prospect as for example Ozan Yilmaz(03, Final)? Sometimes a U-NT nomination or big role means nothing.

Toruko, im not talking about who is better now or who will be better in future. In that case im talking only about the 2021-22 season and even you are on my side because after the first division games of Kerem Konan you came here and wrote Konan is the next turkish NBA candidate and exactly this underlines that even for you Kerem Konan had more upside as Buyuktuncel.

There is a reason why Konan has been playing 5 AND 4 all season. He can accelerate in open court but he cant handle the ball in half court and gives the ball always with hand offs. Without the ability to put the ball on the floor your upside is just an elite role player and Buyuktuncel is showing the same upside right now.

Konan impressed me too, thats right but you can never tell the value of a player when you didnt see him at pro level.

But I love what Konan is showing to us. Never expected him to start this season. I was speculating a rise of Samet but not even to that extend.

David Mutaf's performance this season is progressing exactly in the line with the expectations I expressed earlier. He doesn't promise a hope for a higher level. He fails to be a more effective offensive weapon on the court. Apart from shooting, his abilities are really limited, so even in a team like Bursa where offensive diversity is weak, he can't be a main offensive weapon when he gets those minor minutes. He is almost non-existent in ball movement, only taking on a finishing role, with low passing quality and inability to direct the ball. I'm not even touching on the defensive aspect because he can't keep up with his opponents, he constantly receives negative grades in defense, which is the biggest reason why he doesn't get playing time, especially in critical moments.

He's a player who shines like a flash in the pan on his good days. This creates expectations among people. Especially this season, there are a few games, notably in the BCL, where he played quite well (or shot well, it's hard to say he is playing basketball, he just shoots). However, he is far from showing consistent performance throughout the season.

This season is really crucial for Mutaf as a reference, but it becomes a season where what he couldn't do overshadows what he did. Unless there's a big miracle, he will continue to have mediocre performances for the rest of the season except for a few games. When he returns to Gran Canaria, it's evident that he won't be more than a bench warmer. In lower-middle level Turkish teams, he might get a contract for the next season based on a few good scoring games that he output. However, the Euroleague level is a distant possibility due to his defensive vulnerability and offensive one-dimensionality, which is not even worth discussing.

After having watched a couple of games I must agree here.

You are again comparing both players at their current stage. I just talked about the 2021-22 season to show the users how fast the things at u level changes, how important momentum is etc. Second important point for me was to show that a turkish player shines again under a foreign coach.
In 2008 i have started to write in a german bb-forum. I was a reader of the forum but i have started because i had a mission. The only reason for me was to describe turkish users what must happen that turkish bb becomes successful. In 2019 i decided to write here even though i don't speak english. The reason were the names like Ergi Tirpanci(00) etc. i read here. My mission is that to show turkish users wich prospects we should follow and which ones not. We shouldn't forget everything so quickly, we shouldn't change our oppinion every day. Maybe Kerem Konan has a lost handle now but how it was in 2021-22? And is there zero potential too change it? Of course not. He even looked more like a SF as a PF, played many minutes as PG, we could even saw some shot creating. Im pretty sure he will add ballhandling to his skills and has a very good potential as mismatch, its all about possibility and momentum. We should follow a Buyuktuncel but we should not overrate his possible impact for the turkish NT because his position is full of other players/prospects and his potential is not that high that he could change the turkish NT. Berke cant change the turkish defense but Adem Bona can do that at a degree. Its really strange that some turks even saw Berke over Alperen. Are you kidding me? If a Demir Dogan would take it seriously, he would immediately become a much more important prospect as a Berke for turkish bb.

Headliners for the 08 generation are Omer Ege Ziyaettin and Arda Ene but there are other interesting prospects too. Mustafa Yigit Acar(Bahcesehir Izmir) has good performances. The key is how much comes because of maturity? We should follow him.

Omer Alp Alitas(09) didnt have a good tournament but in the last game of the tournament he showed his big potential with a 20/20 game. Look at that big raw potential, has the potential for the full package. He must increase his understanding.

Look at this babyface. Still 14, over 200 https://www.instagram.com/p/C01mm4kNMEa/

Demir Ozturk(09) is a very talented PF/F from Efes. Offensive talent + IQ and very good shot. Last summer i saw that he is as tall as the other talented versatile F Kaan Belgutay. If a versatile F or big has not solid size then he has no big chances for the next stages. Demir Ozturks size is solid, i hope he will add more inches and then we will see a very good prospect for the U16 NT, very talented offensive player.

Sarp Coskun(Bahcesehir, SG/PG, 07) is a very interesting prospect. He has really everything for the next stages. Very raw prospect with promising upside. He should make further big steps in the next 1-2 years. In these highlights we cant see his versatility but he is very variable. Full package. He is not a PG, rather a combo as a SG/PG.

Do you guys think omer ege ziyaettin is a big potential player? I feel like he has limited upside, sg with pg physique ( probably Will be around 6'3 max when he's 20-21)

6'3 would be absolutely ok and this kid can shoot and has range and he is very good at handling the ball considering his age. If he is a leader can be seen in the U16 EC

So Jasikevicius has been good, right, Toruko? :D He doesn't ignore young talent.

Fenerbahce signed for his second team 2001 born Turkish sniper Okay Camgoz from Canada. Very capable shooter, could be very important for the Turkish NT for the future.

Even with Derin Can Ustun, this team would have zero chance. 1 year difference at U18 is too much. Important in this tournament is can show Kaan Onat good things after his very very bad U16 european championship? The 210 kid Aldin Turkoglu showed good hands and upside at U16 and is very young, he could show interesting things. The other interesting players are of course 08 born player Omer Ege Ziyaettin and Sarp Coskun. I dont know Anil Alyanak but im interested too see the 08 born player.

The rest of the team is not interesting.

Look at the potential of Sarp Coskun, perfect prospect.

Kaan Onat is just too slow and can not shoot. It is easy to play with guys like Tunca, Demirel, Altuntas against BGL competition. He was bad in u16 european championship. He lost 1v1 against Ustun with probably better Efes team. He has nice vision, nice drives and mediocre mid range shoot with lack of physical advantage. I am not sure he is the main guy, plays all through 40 mins. If he is, probably we won't win any important game with u17 team.

Yesterday the most positive performance came from no 7 Anil Alyanak(08). He will probably play next year in Istanbul. Turkish players not only lack offensive talent in all generations, they also dont know how to play basketball either. Anil Alyanak showed a very good IQ on both ends and im pretty sure that wasnt just the case yesterday. But like many other Turkish players, he doesnt have good or enough physical tools. The only player with good physical tools in this team is Sarp Coskun, he is the only one who will not have big physical problems in 2-3 years when we will see them in the senior league. Yavuzselim Kara has the same body he had 2 years ago. That's the result of having a beard like a man when you are 15. No development in his game, no physical development. Thats why its so important to be immature.
