Good job of getting the 3rd place but Im still upset about the Spain game. Problem is not that we lost. Spain is the better team so losing is acceptable but how we lost was terrible. We gave up as early as in the 2nd quarter. Players faces and body languages told it all.

Moving forward Berke needs to adjust his game and his mindset. He dropped from the game and didn’t play any defense yesterday. He is not a player who needs his shot to fall in to be effective. He will be a 3&D wing in Nba and he needs to shot energy for that.

The player Im most hopeful of isTan Yildizoglu. He has the point guard mentality I have no idea why we had Sivas as our starting PG and main ball handler. Tan is a PG and Sivas is a SG in modern basketball playstyle wise despite their sizes. I just hope Tan will go to the teams he will find not only play time but also responsibility to handle the ball. He might be the point guard we have been waiting for since 2010s.

I think a lot of players from this rosters can become good players but it will all depend on the chances they will get. They should use Korkmaz and Bitim as rolemodels and go to eurocup teams instead of efes or fener to play with a serious role. Buyuktuncel doesnt have to be the only nba player from this roster.

Lastly, I have weird feelings about Samet. I hope he will be a decent big man in Europe but Im not sure about it

This third place in the world cup will let us climb in the rankings for sure. The coefficient of a wc is 2,5 so we should be in front of Lithuania and Serbia again. They should know their places :D

All I know Lithuania at 5th spot, and Turkey 8th :) And at men Lithuania 8th, and Turkey 16 :)

Congrats winning medal, but Lithuania's goal is not to overcome Turkey. As a NT fan, I want to see Lithuania being legitimate top 4 in men ranking and winning Olympic medals again.

Well, the rankings will change soon with the boys at least and it doesnt look like you get a spot for Olympics let alone winning a medal.

With boys it's not certain I think (even though you probably right that WC is the key this summer). Lithuania will likely show up strong U16, U18, U20. I think 2006 generation will dominate. U16 title, now they should help U18 to win medals, U18 title next summer and so on. This generation should keep Lithuania at the top.

As for men ranking, Turkey will be interesting, but Lithuania should be shaping up as top power in upcoming years and to start gathering maximum acceleration with 2027-2028 stretch.

European tournaments have just a coefficient of 1 the difference is just too big. When it comes too the other youth tournaments. I expect a Turkish medal in the U16 generation and we can also expect to be at least in the quarter finals in the U18 and U20 tournaments but youll see soon when the tournaments are over.

I dont see it at all.

Berke looks really the tallest but I think it is an optical deceive :D

The bronze medal won by defeating the USA after the disgraceful game yesterday sounds more valuable than usual. It's great to start the summer season with a medal. Congratulations to the entire team; the most remarkable aspect of the victory against the USA was that we were much better in terms of basketball IQ throughout the whole game. Buyuktuncel after the Spain game somewhat recovered from the negative impact. It was a clear and balanced performance where he showed his ability to maintain the balance between offense and defense. However, he should learn to stand stronger on the court when things are not going well. Even though it may be easy to display his skills when the wind is at his back, a player who we assign significant roles for the senior NT should also know how to play against the wind. Unfortunately, I can't get his performance from the Spain game out of my mind. Nevertheless, he clearly proved throughout the tournament that he belongs in the NBA.

When I consider the positive and negative aspects of Buyuktuncel's tournament performance, the following table emerges:

Negative Impressions:
  1. It is a significant handicap for a prospect we discuss NBA potential for to finish the tournament without scoring +20 points against any teams and even like Egypt, Korea or Hungary.
  2. Not being aggressive towards the basket and not utilizing his size advantage adequately in offense is also a handicap.
  3. Finishing the tournament with a mediocre average in 2 FGP and not finding enough opportunities to use the mid-range shot is another negative point.
  4. The lack of consistency in offensive play, not taking enough shots and only shooting when he is encouraged bring up the question of whether he is mentally prepared enough at a higher level.
Positive Impressions:
  1. A 3.7 APG average is highly valuable for his position. He has improved his passing quality and variety compared to the previous summer. Baseball passes to the opposite side have become his trademark pass, which is highly valuable.
  2. There is not much to say about his defense. He is progressing correctly to become an elite defender. He gains a clear understanding of the game in defense. Despite not being explosive, he managed to integrate his advantage with his foot speed and positional awareness to become a perfect defender.
  3. Recording 26 out of 30 free throws is an important point to note.
  4. Although I believe he could be a better rebounder, an average of 8.3 RPG is excellent for his position.
The negative aspects can be resolved over time by making adjustments to his game, while the positive aspects reflect his game character and the qualities that make Buyuktuncel valuable. I believe he had a good tournament and can contribute to the senior NT. Definitely a valuable rotation player even for now.

Absolutely.

Samet and Berke are the biggest potential for future(including character), Especially 1st one, 216cm guy with good physics, hard worker on the court, Milutinov type of player
2nd tier are Karahan and Yildizoglu

Konan is future Bugrahan Tuncer, pure clown and haircut model

I enjoy your takes mate, even though I don't agree with them.

I am not familiar with this age group. Watched them I think once at u16, and then now in this tournament. Previously-hyped Hamza Mestoglu is now a mediocre player, but I see Samet at least got bigger, and has a great motor. He can be Kaya Peker or a Fatih Solak :p.

Btw I understand why Tunca is hyped. the kid showed signs of brilliance in short stretches.

As TfG says massive changes can happen over a short period of time with these kids. We typically see the downward side of it, but there are a few surprises every now and then.

Don't be ridiculous please.

He can be Kaya Peker or a Fatih Solak :p.

Peker is the biggest idiot over 205cm in history of turkish basketball and this kid isn't that type of player, he is harder worker, with bigger muscles(brain too) and 8cm taller(for now)

Comparing with Solak sounds more legit, but he is more handsome then him at least:) And 3cm taller btw

There is a significant difference between Batin Tuna's envisioned potential in 2019 and his current situation. After his performance in U-16 in 2019, I believed he would become a player with the same profile as Cedi Osman. Just like Osman's U-years, Tuna had similar physical attributes, was equally athletic, loved driving to the basket, showed enough determination in the game, had good defense, but lacked a strong shooting threat. However, he was a better passer than Osman and had more room for development for shooting as his shooting form was not bad. Unfortunately, two injuries he suffered set him back significantly. Not being able to find playing time in the BSL last season also hindered his progress as a player. According to the expectations set for him, Batin Tuna should have already made a good contribution at the BSL level. While he may have found playing time in the TBL, I think that simply playing at that level may not have been satisfying for him, considering the potential he was believed to have. It's possible that he knew he should be at much higher levels, and this may have affected him mentally, preventing him from fully committing himself to the TBL level. Currently, he appears to be an underestimated player with doubts about his ability to even play at the BSL level.

Tuna is the player I most want to see shine in the U-20 championship. Since he hasn't played in youth championships for the past three seasons, we cannot make a definitive judgment about what he is capable of at these levels. Considering the rotation situation in the senior national team, I hope Buyuktuncel doesn't get included in the U-20 NT. If Buyuktuncel is absent, it means Tuna would have a chance to receive significant playing time to show himself. Whether he performs well or not is a separate issue, but this U-20 championship is crucial for Tuna's potential to reach the BSL level. He will most likely be included in the squad, and I will closely monitor his performance the most.

Adem started training with UCLA and it looks like he is not injured anymore. Considering Olympic tournament still 1 month away, Ataman could invite Adem to National team. Even he would not make final roster, it would be good start for his senior national career. We did it for Yurtseven. He did not show up but we did it.

Batin Tuna was not a bad prospect but he was always overrated, in the end of the day you can find everywhere a similar player, for example Boran Guler(01), Yigit Karalar(03) etc. Too know which potential he really had we must go year to year and begin with 2017. Batin got the most hype from all players of the U14 championship because he was already 190, played as a do it all guy most minutes as PG. He really looked interesting at that stage, we saw even articles about him because he was a big kid who could even play PG. In the next 2 years the hype continued but there is almost always a problem if its even at U14 too clear what his next move will be, if there is no magic in his game at a very young age etc. then almost always the potential is not so high as assumed. Plus other very negative point was, his body hardly changed at all in the 2 years from U14 to U16, this is very bad sign at that young age. All these points show his real potential.

We saw first time Melih Tunca in Efes in the U14 season 2018-19 as a at best close to 165 small kid. In unimportant games he had 25-30mpg games and in important games sometimes he didnt get minutes but still you clearly saw the godgiven talent. In summer 2020 i saw an instagram video of him at personal training with Alp Sarikaya(05), Alp was a 185 player and Melih was clearly bigger as Alp and you could see Melih is most likely even over 190. In 1 year he added 20-25-30 cm. From that moment you knew, you must follow this child more closely. Then we saw him in March 2021 i think with 7-8 games in BGL for Isik, he played for Isik to get more minutes and exactly in those matches he showed why we must plan with him in the future. But coach Cuneyt Erden overlooked the biggest turkish potential of the 05 generation and cutted him before the european challangers 2021. For the 21/22 season he came back to Efes and you could always see he is the most talented player on the court if he plays. Players like Kaan Berk Tarla were ahead of him in the rotation but Melih Tunca had almost always good showings in the offense but even this season he started in the rotation after the Kaans of this world but Melih got better and better and after the injury of Tolga Kay, Melih had the total control of his team. We can see again the unbelievable mentality of turkish coaches like Cuneyt Erden & Ozcan Cakar. This kid is the definition of talent but had a so hard time to get what he deserves. Melih Tunca is a good example of what can happen if you have real talent + zero maturity. He is still very very young, look at his face and body, i hope he will not add more inches. In the 21/22 season he only took enough 3s at the end of the season, this season he began again to take long jumper but no 3s and later he started again taking 3s. He was not able to bring the ball under pressure at ANGT, he is most likely much better at this now and in this U19 he showed much better defense than before. All these examples showing us again how fast things can change in the youth bb, how important even 1-2 months could be and how difficult is to predict the future of the players but what we can do is always to pay the most attention to the kids, which have real talent. Melih is not ready for first division bb, important is that he will be in the right places for the next few years.

I agree you can clearly see the improvement throughout the year. He's not only a very good playmaker but he also has solid scoring touch especially in the mid-range and around the rim. I even think he is more talented than mert akay... Mert was definitely the better defender but he had no scoring touch whatsoever. Next year I don't want to see him play tb2l again it's time for him to show his skills in TBL.
