i found in many country baseketball is most played , for example china , while soccer is seldom played but media are controlled by soccer , (cctv5 in china ) . thats just make people think soccer is the most popular sports . thats not right . so say something real popular in your country , real most played in your country , but just top three ,

china 1 , pingpong
2 , basketball
3 , badminton (played more by girls)

usa : 1 , basketball
2 , baseball
3 , handball ( not europ handball )

I live in US and never heard of handball being played anywhere.

Do you mean Dodgeball?

in NYC , only basketball and handball are played , :)

Here in the Philippines (IMHO)

1.) Basketball - You should see it here. almost everywhere you see people playing basketball. In the streets (People close streets here and set-up hoops). Here you would have an overdose of basketball on TV! hehehehe... Almost everyday there is basketball on TV... from the Amateur PBL, UAAP, NCAA to the Professional PBA. Another proof that basketball is very popular here? Go to classrooms, where students use their thrash as balls and the trash cans as hoops. Hmmm... what else? as of now I can't think of any but I'm sure there are more proofs of the popularity of basketball here... I'll post as soon as I can remember.

2.) Billiards
3.) Badminton

MExico

Soccer <----Problably will always be top #1
Baseball <------- I never knew we were good till i saw the world clasic series
Basketball <------ To bad our directors of the sport dont want to invest any money in the sport

In Turkey the case is sadly:
1.Soccer
2.Soccer
3.and more soccer

Basketball comes after soccer. There is no other sport as popular as these two. Maybe volleyball, tough I do not hear news about it often. :(

in latvia probably basketball and soccer ranks nr.1 (soccer- much more russian minority than latvians, basketball- allmost all latvians, very few russians)

also volley
ice hockey is popular so in winter or in ice arenas it's played also very often (by both- russians and latvians).

The situation in Lithuania is quite simple: there are no other sports played besides basketball. By the way football stadiums look hilarious with no more than 10 spectators during every game.

this is not exactly so. Football has become very fashionable. it's good taste to like it, especially if your a dumb celeb ;)
however, after speaking how much they love Champions League people usually relax by playing a game of basketball. but football is being played too..

check the facts before posting such nonsenses, I understand it was sarcastic... but for example such average football club like "suduva" have around 1500 - 2000 spectators during the games... not every average basketball club in LT can be proud of such ammounts.. hateing football is not the reason to distort the truth... ;)

So if you understood my comment was sarcastic, what's the point of your post? I'm in no way against football. In fact if Lithuania had at least one decent football club, most likely football would be my sport of choice.
