Third Place Game: Lithuania vs. Serbia

Ivkovic said for Serbian medias following...They arrived in 3:00 in hotel after yesterday game(vs Turkey). They(Serbian coaching stuff) were called in 9:30(by the FIBA organization team) in the morning that they can't have training session in 10:45, but must have it in the morning. I don't want to diminish Lithuanian victory, as they completely deserved it with the attitude and approach to the game, but our guys were simply unprepared and exhausted :(
...and someone said the organization was good for this World Cup :mad:

There was also quite a lot of other things he said but those are all about game vs Turkey and FIBA organization, so irrelevant for this game.

ps. It's really a shame when you invest most of your "free time" in training(our guys were 2.5 months at preparation period) and some fool scr*w you like it happened

i remember we played a fantastic game against a superb u.s.a team and we were physically and mentally exhausted...this is normal...plus spain had one day more rest at the quarter finals ...and obviously the final was horrible...almost the same happened tonight

Totally agree with you. There should be a free day before the final game. If the players will rest a little, they will perform much better. (Durant should work out at this free day. He doesn't need a rest :D)

acctualy Durant was resting all WC , as usa had one-or two training days ;)
 
Judging by the results of the semifinals and today's games, I'd say that Lithuania was the second best team in the tournament.

They deserve the medals. And most of them are young, so I think it's safe to say that we'll remain a major basketball power in upcoming years.

For the next 'battle' we can't wait 2011, it will happen sooner (October 2010), Zalgiris vs Partizan :) But, I must say I'm not so optimistic about that match now because almost half of your NT play in Zalgiris :(

Jankunas, Pocius and Kalnietis will probably have a great season. Hopefully Kalnietis wont become what he was the season before.

I don't think you should be afraid of Klimavicius though. Considering the time and the way he played even Andriuskevicius though played much less looked better than Klima. For me Klima was the worst player of the NT even though it is hard to call anyone worst on the bronze winning team.
 
When Serbia-Turkey game began - I wished that game would ended by 1 point margin. Thats why the team - Serbs - were exhausted psychologically. And this is probably first game ever when referees were totally supporting Lithuania.

Well I think they will sit on their asses and watch how Watson, Brown and Collins shooting "amazing super shots" :D That's what happen with zalgiris all the time - retarded management ambitions and desire to prove that money are well spent is more important than team victory, fans or players potential. In other words they are always trying to achieve short term gain, but always fails. I hope those 3 will be out soon or zalgiris team will bancrupt or something, because I personally care more about Lithuania and Lithuanian players than arfoamericans.

Lets go back to the topic. I am glad that Lithuania won against such a talented and great team. Serbia deserve great respect from all of us, and this is very good feeling knowing that we won against REAL MEN TEAM. Spain or Argentina is just a bunch of pussies who fall on the ground - no matter it was big, small or no contact at all.

...and flopping played a great part in that. Though Spain were much more of a chronic floppers than Argentina and in fact in this tournament Spain flopped much less than their usual numbers... this was one of the key reasons why they ended only six. Of course a few absences took their toll but again most of the teams had those.

Are you talking about the last game?!? How were the referees supporting Lithuania? I couldn't see that. As a matter of fact in this game referees were one of the most fair in all the games Serbia played in this tournament(if we don't count group phase then - the most fair)
 
Another thing that happened after the game with Turkey , turkish fans have surrounded our NT bus , they were punching the windows , doors etc bus couldn"t move for almost an hour after the game , security did nothing about it:rolleyes:

Lithuanians are used to be slaughtered by refs (in their minds) so when they whistle fair it's a big support! :D
