I think that Jerusalem has a good shot at winning this one and thus getting the double this season. Enough been said on this years MTA and the last game against Galil just showed one more time how vulnerable this team is, especially with Vujcic out of shape after back injury and Eliyahu unable to play due to broken finger (may be he will play in the final, though).
Another problem for MTA is Spahija that shows lack of ability to control his team and the game from the beginning of the season. I won't be surprised at all to see the rookie Dan Shamir completely outcoaching him.
I vote Jerusalem :)

OMFG OMFG OMFG OMFG - maccabi was trailing all game long, never led it until 3.2 sec to go with 2+1 by arnold which put it up by 2 points. burstein stole the last ball. maccabi remain the champion. i have to say hapoel played much better game (maccabi never led the game - as i say).
this one you gotta see. torrent will be probably be posted here courtesy of rikhadur.

Great game! Hapoel Jerusalem deserved to win, but MTA took the game in the end.

Wow just got back from the arena. Head is still banging so I can't really write a coherent post. Please please post the torrent whenever you can. Thanks in advance.

The game was really average but it's amazing to see the improvement of the PL from the beginning of the season to now. For experienced players like Will Bynum and Jamie Arnold that are not in the nba because they're three inches to short and Vujcic to pull every trick and gimmick they know to win the championship is an accomplishment. There was potential in the PL but I didn't expect the quality of play and players to improve as much as it did. I wonder how the PL will change after the off season.

Tal Burtein was BIIIIIIIIIIIG

Tal Burtein was BIIIIIIIIIIIG

Tal Burstein was incredible in the second half, he made himself best Israeli player for now, as opposed to crying baby Tapiro... Heroic game by Niko, with his hurting back, and good game by Bynum - 5 as., 1 turnover...
And all talks about referee giving game to Maccabi are b-shit - referees were against Maccabi whole game (including 29/16 J-m to Maccabi's free throws..., and non whistling against J-m whole 3rd quarter...).

I was a bit busy with something else while watching this game, so I'll definitely be needing the torrent. Burstein was indeed great in the clutch - that I could see. Jerusalem fans are all whining about terrible refereeing. Don't really see why. That 5-th Tapiro foul, e.g. ,was nothing exceptional. A stupid call, but there was some contact, so I don't get the point of the irritating whining Hapoel fans.
On the other hand we have this exhibit:
referees were against Maccabi whole game (including 29/16 J-m to Maccabi's free throws..., and non whistling against J-m whole 3rd quarter...).
So I guess it is just a matter of choosing the side for your blind fanaticism.

Hmmm, you have to go personal, do you?
I (surprisingly) agree with the first half of your post, and about the second... It's an explanation - not to you - I could not care less for your personal attack....

I do not complain about referees - we won because of fighting and some luck. We did get harder fight because of 2 opening five players injured and good game of Jerusalem and only in tiny part because of referees, which is part of the game, unfortunately... Maccabi also lost Sharp and Niko at the end, but none of them cried... Only in response to J-m fan whining (in talkbacks all over...) I brought some stats... Now we can build anew:) and we do have great chassis:)

Tapiro played a great game and was instrumental to Hapoel's lead over MTA. The referees whistled at least one phantom foul on him. Referees know that Derek Sharp extends his feet AFTER his shot release so that the defender inadvertantly touches him. Otherwise, the defender has to stand 5 feet away from him. Referees know this trick and shouldn't get Sharp calls for it. Tapiro didn't touch him with his body and touched his foot, after Sharp extended it to the side after his shot. It wasn't a foul, but rather a provocation. Tapiro's offensive foul on Sharp could be called but there was no necessity in calling it. Tapiro didn't run into Sharp, he stopped in time and touched Sharp just lightly. Vujcic and Sharp didn't show the same emotional reaction as Tapiro because their fouls were clear and Maccabi is used to winning the championship every year. 2007 was Tapiro's probably only chance at getting the trophy in Israel and he led his team more than Vujcic and Sharp together were leading Maccabi that day.
Maccabi won a tense and interesting game, full of drama. I wouldn't blame it all on the referees, although they made some crucial mistakes (where was the goaltending of Morris against Bynum?!). Maccabi won with a lot of luck, but Hapoel played a better game overall. Again, MTA's opponent was plagued by bad foul shooting. Galil Elyon didn't hit any free throws and Hapoel meshed into this bad trend, too.

basiclly - that's not the best game you'd see this season but it was - as goga - said a very intense game, worthy of being a deciding game. download and watch it if you can.
there was one amazing moment after tapiro's 4th and than again after his 5th foul when a microphone insatlled on the referee's (bachar - probably the top iseaeli offical today) shirt. tapiro told him "i've waited for this moment all of my carear, please don't ruin it for me". very emotional moment a sentence that will probably join the history of sports in israel. (goga - do you speak herbew?)

Ziv, thanks for translation :) I tried to understand what Tapiro has said but didn't understand. I barely know Hebrew. Can just read a write, know some words and expressions. I have started learning Hebrew two times already but was always in a weak group, where people were not able to learn even the alphabet. I feel really bad for Tapiro. When a referee makes one controversial call (Tapiro on Sharp in defense), he kinda let's the play continue in the next controversial situation involving the player who was just called for a foul. Especially, considering a crucial situation in a crucial game on a crucial player. Of course, it weren't the refs, who have won MTA the championship. Hapoel should be savvy enough to cope with playing two minutes without Tapiro and holding on to the lead but the refs weren't helpful either. Plus, the worrysome FT shooting. I feel really bad for the Israeli guys of Hapoel. They surely won't wear MTA's dress in their career and it was one-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
On the other hand, at least one number one place for Neven Spahija, who has my sympathy as a person, especially considering the constant bashing of Israeli (Maccabi) fans, who weren't able to recognize the achievement of the current team, which lacked a PG, a SG, a starting SF for half-a-season and a POWER Forward. The only failure came in the cup. Otherwise, MTA finished second to PAO, Tau and CSKA, respectively, being just one game away from the semifinal (considering, they would be facing Unicaja, even from the final game).

About fifth foul of Tapiro - it does not matter if Sharp added some play or not - he was stable and Tapiro touched him - offensive foul. In any case, Bachar should have given Tapiro technical after 4th foul when Tapiro cursed him...
And about Derek and Niko not crying - I don't think there is any connection to their fouls being clear or not - I can not imagine Derek Or Niko crying, that's all - they are much better than that... (Nikola had one very emotional moment in time of European championship after referees butchered Croatian NT, but I do not think he cried even then...)

If Tapiro didn't foul out Hapoel would of won. The fourth foul was a phantom foul with Sharps flopping and the fifth was more of a flop than contact. The Israeli players have to learn when they play at that level they did that defenders are planning to flop so adjust and run around them to the basket and score. Seeing maccabi needing a lot of luck and good fortune to steal the championship from two 19 year olds at Galil and Hapoel was remarkable. If Maccabi faced Ironi Naharyia the result would of been different.

Light touches in such situations are never being called as fouls. Referees have to feel the moment. Bachar didn't.
Sharp has already cried, other players have cried. It's normal, it just shows your emotion, your passion. No player of MTA has ever been in a situation like Tapiro has been in this championship game. MTA is used to winning on yearly basis, whereas a player like Tapiro had a chance of a lifetime and his team let him down. But for Tapiro himself, the ref was the villain and he is right about it. Maybe, IBA has to bring referees from abroad for such games, as it is being practised in Russian soccer, because some referees tend to get one certain team the calls that other teams don't get. On the other hand, it would be a sign of defeat concerning the professionality of Israeli refs. Plus, who would have thought about such a close game? Still, to warrant complete neutrality, referees from abroad wouldn't hurt.

First of all, hello.
All of you are talking about that call or other call, I want to write about something else.
I am A Hapoel fan. for the last 15 years, which make it more than half of my life, so I am, actualy, ruined for the past couple of days. For the first time ever HJ was realy able to win it all, and the feeling of that chmpionship taken away from you, it is something new for us. we lost, A lot, to MTA during the past 5000 years or so, but this is new.
Trying to be optimistic here, it is a turning point for this club, the first time evevr to realy oppose Maccabi. hope thay will build from it.

And again, Hello.

May be 100 more years:rolleyes:
As long as you taking hating bloodthirsty terrorist Che Gewara as symbol you"ll never win...

And I am afraid foreign players of Jerusalem will not understand you...;)
