The Houston Rockets Thread

  • Thread starter Thread starter CKR132
  • Start date Start date
Jeremy Lin and the Houston Rockets will play in the Madison Square Garden against Lin's former team, the New York Knicks. It's right there where Linsanity started. Should be a good game.

Houston just crushed the Chicago Bulls with Lin, Harden, Parsons and Asik all scoring in the 20's.

The Houston Rockets have reinstated rookie Royce White, but White is expected to report to the Rocket's D-League affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.

With over a year since Linsanity broke out, Lin dished one of this finest games to date: 28 Pts, 1 Reb, 9 Ast, 1 Stl in a drubbing to the Golden State Warriors 140-109.

And Mark Jackson's Warriors became sore losers as Houston was about to break the record.

Talk of class.

Thomas Robinson unveiled in a Rockets jersey. I wish the best for him as the Rockets traded for potential. With the Kings, he saw some minutes at the C spot but he is really a power forward.

I hope he won't steal Motiejunas' minutes that he's earning lately. Rockets should play this guy as 5 :)

Well, he won't steal Asik's minutes so good luck with that. If he plays even half his potential this year then it's definitely bye bye to Motiejunas as the latter gets bumped out of the rotatoin.

From what I've seen he's an athletic freak, but basically only one trick ponny. At this point Motiejunas' potential might be transcendent compared.

We'll see. There's a reason why he's a Top 5 pick though. Motiejunas can back-up both positions anyway i still think over the long run he gets to average those 20 min per game regularly as a back-up.

McHale will re-instill minutes to accommodate the acquisition of Robinson but they did good by trading away a logjam in the front-court with Patterson, Aldrich out of the way.

Plus Motiejunas has the perimeter shooting that Robinson has had trouble in his rookie year. I saw to or three instances of Motiejunas setting a quick screen and pedaling into shoot reflex as Lin or Harden goes for a hard drive. In that ball reversal situation, Motiejunas gets easy looks for shots. This is where Robinson will struggle as his shooting percentage is dim above the 10ft mark.

Robinson had trouble when we gave him instances of isolation in the low block. He faces up and forces the action; most of the time resulting into a turnover. Robinson got his points and rebounds with the Kings through cleaning the boards as he rarely gets a setup pass from the other four.

In McHale's high point entry dribble drive instances, Motiejunas is faring better. His confidence is cumulative with his increasing minutes. While for Robinson, Rockets did not have someone this athletic since Stromile Swift. Robinson will get some alley-oops if he times his screens.

True skill set favors Motiejunas*right now. But at best he's an effective 6th man and isn't really a starter material. Not saying that Robinson will be an instant starter this year but they like his potential right now. And with a growing team like the Rockets, they have time to wait on him.

Also, how disappointed are you with this cash-saving, head-scratching trade deal from Sacramento? Looks like the new owners had a hand on this?

The Houston Rockets and general manager Daryl Morey have agreed to a four-year contract extension.

James Harden lifts the Rockets over their Texas rivals, the San Antonio Spurs by hitting a jumper with 0:04 remaining in the fourth quarter. Rockets win 96-95.

Playoff time for the young Houston Rockets. Acquiring James Harden put them into a playoff bound team.

Jeremy Lin will also generate some headlines. Maybe Linsanity could rise in the post-season.
