Congratulations to Spain on 1st place.

Spain can also thank Djordjevic. If he was any other coach, 20+ for Serbia.

Relax buddy... coaches come with the team, "if" comes with crystal balls... If there was one team that was really under coached in this tournament, that was Greece...

I want to give a standing ovation to Argentina. They played with a lot of heart, and even when they found themselves down 20 points they never stopped fighting. They spared no effort, gave 100% and made the game interesting in spite of coming from behind since the beginning. I was expecting a late run until the final minutes, but Spain's defence is just something else. Neither France nor Serbia could stop Scola and he was almost a non-factor today. We controlled the boards and the tempo of the game. Coach Hernández threw everything they could come up with at us, small lineups, big lineups, two or even three ballhandlers, full court pressure, zone defences... nothing worked for more than a few minutes. Credit should go to coach Scariolo, his assistants, and unsung heroes like Claver and Oriola who always had the toughest defensive assignments.

1. The game was not interesting
2. Scola was stopped primarily by fatigue because of his old age and the consecutive games, as many had predicted.
3. Size and height of Spain was a crucial factor vs smaller size Argentina. Of course their defense was great also.

The beloved Rodolfo Fernández:

- 2 World Cups
- 3 Eurobasket (plus 2 more medals)
- 3 Olympic medals
- 2 Euroleagues
- 1 Eurocup
- 1 Eurochallenge
- 5 ACB leagues
- 5 King's Cups
- 4 Spanish supercups
- 1 Intercontinental Cup

Not bad...

Come on, Argentina deserves a huuuuuge credit for all they have done in this tournament.

The coach was responsible because our players could not hit so many open threes or even score with a lay up when they were alone in low post. :p
The only thing I didn't like was the excessive use of Papanikolaou instead of two real guards. Other than that, our players sucked and lost by themselves.

Players with a double-double in a WC final:

Shaquille O’Neal (1994)
Zeljko Rebraca (1998)
Fabricio Oberto (2002)
Jorge Garbajosa (2006)
Lamar Odom (2010)
DeMarcus Cousins (2014)
RUDY FERNÁNDEZ (2019)

Well, that's the upside of running away from the NBA.

I was thinking about mens tennis where no player born in 90s has won any grand slam title.Which is crazy if you think about it.Same story in international basketball. After a ton of quality players born in 80s,the 90s crop is dissapointing. So a lesser version of Spain led by 30 + guys still wins titles.

I'm not totally agree, let me say it clear, Spain defence is great, but more in the zone, not so much in the 3pt line. Spain defence collapse a lot in the zone, doing an excellent job, a lot of help came from everywhere. In this area is a elite defence. And the guards are quick as hell (like Argentina). But when you move the ball, an go in and out the zone, you can take a clean 3pt shoot, from time to time. Argentina shoots wide open 3s, but the ball not fall in.

Argentina came to the final running the floor and shooting 3pt.
Today shoots bad. Even if Argentina shoots better, Spain probably stiil win.

Agree about defense of Spain. They have great rim defense, long, quick hands, high ,reactional players, but perimeter defense isnt anything special ,except maybe one players who keep best opponent player ,Llull or Fernandez or whoever .Attempt zone 3-2 ,box and one ,against Australia was ridicolous, against Serbia successed but in one period of game ,more because bad play of Serbia.

Hey where are you Kwijibo? Now is when you have to write that typical thing of "very easy tournament for us" :p

1. Not interesting to the viewer, whose team didn't play the last game of the tournament. The last time a WC final was a close game was in 2002 in overtime between Yugoslavia and Argentina. The semis are more interesting.
2. Scola was stopped because Spain defence.
3. Serbia and France have size and height too. So again credit to Spain.

Starting Papanikolaou at 2 was a disastrous decision by it self... Then playing Giannis at 5 was another, then rotating to be "bigger" than your opponents was a third, then failing to play two playmakers behind Giannis like the Bucks do, was a 4th... Coaching mistakes were limitless with team Greece... One with my knowledge on basketball can't state them all in a forum... Greece could have won this if coach Giannakis would have been on the wheel... but since "ifs" apply for all competition, the Hellenic squad got what it deserved...

A little less patience need Argentina, like recognition of moment.Refreee criterion which is tenedentially on side of Spain .I m ashamed, because in my favourite sport ,world champions is group of creature ,like this in Spain . This style, behaviour isnt disgusting ,only to Spaniards .I dont know how some decent person from Spain can support people who disgrace Spain, despite results. This is one of most disgusting team in the history of sports . Is anybody today support Spain, out Spain ? Maybe Brazilians .

Refree help them in semi-final,also today .They had fortunate way on the torunament.Like I wrote,Llull and Fernandez are best players and strongest characters in team .Isnt dificult for others who didnt won any trophy in career to play correct today .Crucial segment of game was points in rim ,especially in first time, they used lack of weight and height or Argentina , tithe times was on the edge, will it be points, but most of this shoots were points .
I enjoy this kind of message more than the gold

The World Cup MVP is from the 90's.

Seeing your opponents acting like adult and accepting the defeat is very boring for the winners :) As general, Spanish fans’ attitude look good and normal. I don’t see much arrogance from them. Congrats again, you deserved.

Still I would like to see Doncic in this tournament. I think Luka is the next difference-maker in Fiba. Beside jokes, Jokic and Serbia have great potential. Jokic should work on his body and agility. Marc Gasol’s development can be good example for him. A Serbian team leading by aggresive and more agile Jokic would be very dangerous.

Greece has unique talent. Giannis in a true organization is a nightmare even for Spain. Of course, you must have better shooters and create more space for him.

Congrats to our Spanish friends here in this forum. What a truly amazing team you have for this past ~15 years. Really jealous of the talent, the commitment of the players, the chemistry, and the winning mentality.

Hopefully it’s close to its end now so that other people can enjoy some medals :P

I think Serbia did a great tournament, losing only against the finals teams.

Yea, we only lose against worst Spain in last 15 years and Argentina which real quality is Eurocup level + Campazzo. But we won Angola and Philipines. :D

Joke aside, congrats to Spain, easy win in final like it was expected.

Overall WC was so poor quality because of FIBA and too much absences.

Since we have failed, it's futile to defend the coach's decisions.
But I saw good defensive adjustment vs any other team except Brazil, I saw many times a player shoot open threes which he couldn't make, tragic FT %, shocked and awed Greek players (Calathes, Sloukas and almost everybody) vs teamUSA, and in the end, we lost by one (1) point a match we should have won.
Skourtopoulos can not teach them to shoot threes and free throws neither can he inspire confidence to all those experienced and top professional players.
But, after a failure, we need a scape-goat and most of the times this goat is the coach. Next time, he should execute the FT. Perhaps we would have won by 1 instead of losing :D
