Not bad IMO. Paul was not taking them anywhere. Question is who is playing PG?

same question, who’s playing point, plus Suns’ depth is now messed up, lost a lot of pieces for Durant and Beal. And Ayton might be on his way out

The target for this draft is a PG, hopefully Cason Wallace or Kobe Bufkin. they have the 33rd pick , Malaki (9th best rookie 2022) and Graham as trading pieces to trade up to 12 to 15th
no love for Brandin Podziemski who Sochan called out to play with him for the Polish team?
you guys can resign Jones, have Graham and Wesley. you also have cap space to get FVV or even Harden if you wanted. im not really sure with PGs of this class outside of Scoot and Amen.

Point Book. that has been used since Coach Earl Watson i think. it isnt used extensively because Book's scoring goes down and noone can pick it up if it happens. both Book and Beal has shown ability to run the point and able playmakers. except..... neither has played lead guard for extended mins let alone games.

Trading is interesting. Beal only agreed to be traded because he demanded to go to Phx and play with Durant, Book, and DA. obviously, his nontrade clause has 0 bearing if he isnt being traded. but will trading DA make Beal disgruntled without even playing a single game? DA needs to go imo. Coach Frank Vogel is a D guy and the owner just gave him 3 offensive players. and DA's D starts and ends with his length. i wonder what teams will give up for him. Suns can just stick with these 4, cam payne and resign londale, craig, and wainwright.then its praying the vets who are ring chasing sign for vet min.

we can be patient , i don't think Wemby will be ready to carry a team for a deep playoff run until 2 years from now, so super reluctant to spend on high price FA now, i'd rather have a young new PG grow with Wemby and be productive 2 or 3 years from now. that trio of existing PGs ( tre) are at best bench PG's . ( ive no trust in them) ..
And besides after 2 years if these drafted players don't pan out , then that's the time to lose patience and open the check book for high paying FA. no way we spend now on CP3 or van fleet , in development stage of build up...

Vogel said that his goal was to get Ayton back to all-star level. We can debate if he was ever at all but I take Vogel's words as is. Having a motivated Ayton will help Suns a lot. If a 6'9 Bam was decent in defending Jokic, 7' Ayton can do a much better job if he has his head straight.

as a suns fan, i remember small details on where the team is rosterwise. I keep seeing different posters from different outlet that Suns HAVE to trade DA because they dont have the capability to sign players to fill the roster. right and wrong, right that they wont be able to sign non-min vet players and or undrafted players to 2-way contracts or whoever is eligible to that. wrong, because although Suns only has 6 guaranteed contracts now (KD\Book\DA\Beal\Payne and goodwin who is now part of the Beal deal) they have bird rights to Londale, Craig, Wainright, okogie, bazley, and Biyombo. i can see teams offering money to probably londale and okogie. but it wont be much either.so in the event all these players sign back thats 12 players already. TJ Warren and Terrence Ross are UFA that was not able to play much last season because they came in late and Coach Monty didnt really give them a chance. it might not happen, but they or one of them, could just sign back in for min too see how it goes after a full season. thats 13-14 players already and we havent used our mid level exception yet. and if I remember correctly, the trade where we gave away Saric gave us a 5million TPE. and so far, the only min vet i mentioned are Warren and Ross. yes, that isnt "deep" enough for a playoff push, but we dont need to. we just need warm bodies to get into playoffs, and we will operate with 7-8 players from there. if Bazley and Okogie becomes consistently useful, then the 6 guaranteed players plus these 2 gives us 8 players for playoffs.

Good trade for the Suns. Though his skillset kinda overlaps with Booker's and in all honesty he's like a slightly poor man's version of him. It was Beal who made the trade possible, for Washington it's all about not paying him the remainder of his contract.

Now I'm curious how they're going to round up their roster. Ayton was big when they defeated the nuggets 2 years ago but he kinda stopped trying once he signed his new contract. Will they ship him out for less expensive pieces?

even if they do, they dont have to do it now. they can wait until the deadline. They can just piece together a team who wants to sign in for cheap, and see what they need as the season moves along.

I'm not a fan of late season roster changes. That could really messed up team chemistry like what happened last season. Should have gotten KD early instead. And an unmotivated Ayton could have toxic vibes in the locker room and possibly even lower his trade value even more.

They should have really drafted Halliburton or Vassel over Jalen Smith despite having an abundance of wings and PGs at that time..

takes 2 to tango. Phoenix already asked for KD before the start of the season but Nets owner talked to KD and gave him some assurance. no matter how much Phx wanted to, if Nets didnt, wala tayo magagawa.

you arent a Suns fan. ill just tell you some names we drafted after booker: Bender, Josh Jackson, Okobo, Zaire smith, DA, okpala, and culver. and DA hasnt really broken out but he is the [NODE="1"]Home[/NODE] pick.... that we chose over Luka. we suck at drafting and is worse at player development. getting Hali would be like getting someone to trade like Cam Johnson and Mikal Bridges.

I've been a Suns fans since the late 90s.. you forgot Tyler Ullis and Chriss. We also drafted Len and Goodwin before Book who surprise surprise sucked. I dunno if it's the toxic environment or the player themselves suck but it also didn't help that we drafted knuckle heads like Jackson, Chriss and Ullis. I think the problem is we place more value on potential that players who are ready to contribute like Bridges and Johnson. But Haliburton and Vassel looked like they were ready to contribute from day 1 as they older prospects and were viewed as having lower ceilings..

Is the Vogel signing good? What I usually hear is that at least it's not Doc

best example: Kyrie Irving and the Mavericks, from 4th in the west to missing the playoffs

regarding the suns, I think Ayton wil be traded before the season starts, a lot of teams, including dallas, is interested in the former 1st pick overall (but imagine a Luka-Ayton-Irving locker room, that’ll be toxic)

The Spurs situation is they have 6 mid 1st round draft picks in next 3 years . Obviously they can't sign all of them , so they need to consolidate those via trade to trade up to around top 9 to 12 in next 3 drafts . (3 picks) to form 7 man core together with Wemby, Sochan, Vaseel and Keldon

The target for this draft is a PG, hopefully Cason Wallace or Kobe Bufkin. they have the 33rd pick , Malaki (9th best rookie 2022) and Graham as trading pieces to trade up to 12 to 15th

Honestly Tre Jones isn't that bad of a point guard to build around. He is good on defense and has playmaking abilities.

not sold on Keldon though. Too inconsistent. Id rather have Vassell by a mile.

malaki is intriguing for me. He has shown flashes last season.

Devonte's contract is too hefty to swallow. Hope they get rid of him. He somewhat fleeced NOP.

My take on what Spurs should to to get a mid 1st round pick (PG to grow with Wemby)

Option 1 : Target Toronto's 13 th pick - ( Cason Wallace) - give up 33 rd pick, trade back 1st round 2024 (6th round protected ) and icing - give Devonte Graham.
Option 2 ; Target Atlanta 15th pick ( Kobe Bufkin) - give up 33rd pick, Trade back 1st round 2025 or Trade Malaki who would be 16th pick if 2022 was re -drafted

I think both can co exist and with KD. They can stagger one to be the first guy of the bench

But they need to address their depth. Maybe the best guy off their bench is Londale or Ross who isn't reliable on a night to night basis.

Even if they drafted Hali. They still need to trade him to win now like what they did to Mikal and Cam Johnson.

yay, a Suns fan! I started watching basketball, in general, during the time of Tom Chambers. but really got hooked during the time of Barkley.

anyway, i have zero faith with Suns in terms of drafting. sure, they will occasionally draft a good guy(Book, Mikal, Cam) but in general, they just dont. so thinking how Phx can build via trade is futile and not an option. and since JJ came on board, it is clear that how he makes the team is getting experienced players and hoping the young guns he had when he started either becomes good enough to be part of the core of good enough to be shipped out.

Vogel has 2 things that Coach Monty doesnt: championship experience and experience coaching a team with multiple all star players. extra, he is a defensive coach. the time Lakers won the championship under him, they were one of the top defensive team.
