The 2023-2024 NBA Season

  • Thread starter Thread starter The_Big_Cat2
  • Start date Start date
141-139 win for GSW

OKC without SGA. OKC has tons of weapons even without SGA.. building thru draft..

Disgraceful start to the Bulls' season. Time to blow it up.

Can't bring myself to follow this team as religiously as before after a horrible first 7 games.

earth to san antonio give the ball to wemby

going into ot vs toronto, can't understand why wemby didn't even get touches down the stretch

Upcoming game tomorrow as Oklahoma hosts San Antonio. Chet going up against Wemby. Almost identical stats. But Chet is shooting better with more than 50% on overall FGs and 3-pt FGs.

Moving Spurs discussion here
1st of all , the Spurs are not expected to be a playoff team this year, so having a lottery pick next draft does make sense. ( As Manu mentioned let's be patient and were 3 years away from competing seriously) , it's of little value to get wins and just be a mediocre play in level team this season ( that's not the goal)

Tre Jones is NOT the starting PG that will make us in to contender level (he's a good back-up at best)
Sochan while may never be a PG has the upside to be a starting point forward for a contending Spurs team, ( so giving him the reps exposure now does make sense)

Wemby at 19 as a rookie is avg 20 pts a game , LBJ 1st 10 games a rookie avg 16 pts a game, Just like LBJ there will be lots of cirticisim with the overhype, etc, I'm not here to argue who that Wemby is better as rookie than LBJ, but only to say I'm confident Wemby in 3 years will be All NBA team 1st or 2nd team material. ( and a solid two way player contending for DPOY regularly) , that's certainly a decent level star to build around ( it will take time though)

We can argue all we want around the pieces around Wemby , and how good they will be , all i will say is Vassel , Sochan and Collins (al lottery picks and under 25 yrs old) are definitly good pieces to put around Wemby

The Spurs future PG hasn't been recruited yet, they have 6 1st round picks in the next 3 years, (hope is we find one there , or I'm sure an elite free agent PG would want to pair up with Wemby)

lastly at least we have light at the end of the tunnel, with Wemby's arrival, yes no gurantees if we got to the promise land , but we have hope unlike a year ago LOL, nice to be a Spurs fan now , can't say the same if i were a Bulls fan (peace)

All due respect sir, no need for that last sentence. HAHAHAHAHAHA.

By the way, speaking of the Bulls, Zach LaVine's now open to a trade: https://twitter.com/ShamsCharania/status/1724506310274642161?t=-XRWP5pFtCiRzFrKmTzs7A&s=19

bulls need to rebuild, the lavine experiment is not working.
Sayang, i thought the core of Ball, Zach, Demar and Vucevic could contend in the east ( they are former all stars )

Not good enough, as it turns out. None of them are generational talents, e.

DeRozan, Vuc, Caruso, and Zach are the best assets.

time to trade them for picks while they still have value, those 4 would compliment a contending team (i.e. Vuc is a perfect fit in LAL, but i doubt they have the assets)

The Limbo Zone. A lot of teams/programs (*ahem* gilas) fall into that trap. Always going for the quick-fix and never laying a good long-term foundation leads to lasting mediocrity. Never becoming really bad but never really becoming great either.

Recent champion teams like the Warriors, Bucks and Nuggets built their foundational pieces through the draft and patiently developed them. The Lakers because of their starpower is an exception because most players will always want to play with them (they give your brand massive exposure).

Having Wemby and other very young pieces fits perfectly with the Spurs philosophy of long-term development. They aren't great at building a team through trades. In a way, another potential golden generation fell in their laps.

are the spurs tanking this year??

Essentially yes , while continuing to develop their young core , they gave up a decent PG in Payne who would of helped get more wins, for nothing to focus on giving burn for their young core.

It's too early to tell, but what is the likelihood that the top three picks in the 2023 NBA draft will end up as busts? Ausar Kwahi 2.0 Thompson is ROY for me.

IMG_7359.jpg if this was the pba, vargas would have led the jeers against their former superstar who led them to titles

IMG_7369.jpg oh boy, Josh Giddey has been trending as of late due to allegedly having sexual relations with a minor

Oklahoma city's rebuild was doing damn fine until these allegation came up. What a waste of talent if he is suspended or worst case cut from the team.
