The 2023-2024 NBA Season

or Christian Wood, who is still unsigned despite averaging a double double for the past 3 seasons

Both are locker room cancers but Wood is more productive I guess. Don't really want either of them

The NBA seems to be copying the PBA now by doing an in season tournament at the start of the regular season. Basically they are adding another championship to bring in more viewership. Isn't it like the PBA? With the PBA players lack of in-between seasons development as well lack of regular participation in international competitions I don't this is a good idea for the NBA. It's a bit different because some of the in-season games count for the regular season. But you might injuries because many vets are still rounding up into shape and then you bring high-stakes competition.

It's more of cup tournament similar to emperors cup (b-league), copa del rey (liga endesa)

will try to check later at the Filipino comments on Wemby. the hate was real the other day. they cant seem to grasp that Wemby was drafted for his potential tht should surface atleast 3years from now.

in season tournament is more of a European thing and totally different from what pba is doing, though the difference in what European clubs are doing they give chance from team in lower tier leagues to participate and face teams in the top league

and despite being drafted due to potential, he can still deliver numbers against grown men, and doesnt look lost in the court\

edit: Portland beats SA 85-80, Wemby with 27 pts (9/14), 12 rbs, 3 blocks,

the set-up of PBA is closer to what Latin American football leagues are doing - split season (apertura-closura format).

27 pts 12 rebounds and 2 blocks for wembanyama in a loss for spurs

This is the first time Ive seen SL games where players get 30 minutes or more of playing time. Really sucks for the unsigned players like Kai. In the past these nobodies get at least 5 minutes of game time. The SL used to feel like an audition but not this year, it seems teams already shortlisted the guys who have a chance to make the team.

Because high-profile prospects like Scoot, Wemby and Chet are there. They want to test these dudes out.

But even ordinary dudes are getting 30mins. Not just the stars. I dont know what changed.

If nothing will change in the coaches' trend, I seriously doubt Kai will get to step on the court.

Had he joined last year's SL, it might have been a different story. This year feels like a pre-season game more than a SL.

I heard of Liga MX (Mexican football league) doing this format, but I didn't know this was a thing across many Latin American leagues.

Yes, it is. The rationale for this format is to keep their fanbase tune in with the league. The difference between what PBA is doing is that, in LatAm football leagues, there is only one season champion because the winners of the apertura and clausura tournaments will play for a season championship. PBA considers all the conference winners as season champions.

People calling Wemby a bust in the 1st minutes of the game.. then he got hot lol

Last time I checked the smart basketball experts are still tagging him as overrated.

overrated, yes, but i assume that Wemby will not be a bust

Kai can only dream of doing what Wemby did today. I doubt Kai can put up those numbers against Malaysia.

From Twitter

Adrian Wojnarowski

The Atlanta Hawks are trading TyTy Washington, Usman Garuba, Rudy Gay and a second-round pick to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Patty Mills, sources tell ESPN. Hawks save $4.5M in the deal

Sam Presti is a genius. He absorbed overpaid contracts like Bertans and Oladipo so he could get some more picks. Plus he can flip these players for additional picks pa)
