Can't get it. You lost. We have even say that if Greek team play again the match with the team of 2005 probably we would loose. Probably we would loose 9 to 10 games against that team.
It happened for us to play a hell of a good game that day. That's all. We beat US team and we really enjoyed. That doesn't make us (Greeks) better team than you.
We admit that. We are not arrogant as some players of US team are.

This is the first year the WC has been broadcast in the USA. ESPN just got the rights to show FIBA here, they're starting to push it here.
That being said, since we haven't seen a lot of international action here people think sending the USA B team is enough to win by 20+ points every game. When it starts to get more recognition here like it finally is, more players will want to go.
Reasons some stars are not going is because the NBA season is very long. I know at least for Kobe, he has not had a break since 07 I think, and he has an injury. What is important to him right now is to win the 3rd straight NBA championship, he wants to win it for Phil Jackson who has said this is his "last stand". This was also a big year for free agency, and people like D-Wade used that as an excuse...whatever the legitimacy of that may be.
Also with that said, a few of these stars have said that they will be at London in 2012

See, this is the problem I have with many of our Euro/international friends. They scrutinize and disect ev-er-y little thing, from how USA shakes your hands before the game to "how dare they not know Athens is the capital of Greece!! Off with their heads!!!!!". I mean, are you guys serious or joking? How do you know that Russel was serious here btw? So what if he didn't know and is telling the truth? You guys have to understand that your international competitions are larger than we consider them to be. USA soccer (football for you) had boners when they defeated Spain in the Confederations Cup last year. Spain took it as a joke and didn't care. What do you expect from a powerhouse team in their own sport?

If they see us as basketball aliens then just don't play in WC and in any other Fiba's tournaments.
If you don't care about Fiba's competitions stop participate to them.
And since you are the powerhouse of basketball (which i believe / admit you are) why after all these failures of Indianapolis - Japan etc etc you keep sending weaker rosters ?

America not even participating would be seen as way worse.
I think soon though, the USA will be sending better rosters to the WC, as long as the interest in it keeps growing like it currently is.

This time we could not help sending a weaker roster. What are we suppose to do, place a gun to their heads and force them to play? And also remember please, we have confidence in our guys and especially look forward to building new faces for our future team. I have no problem with that. I'll tell you what, friend, you better pray this USA team fails for your own sake. If they win, there will be no more excuses on how USA "disrespects their opponents" by sending "weaker" teams. While I believe this team can win it all, I have a feeling they probably won't.

The girly game is here in Euro league. You block the ball and the lousy referees give most of times a foul.
They give foul in every single touch.
Now we will have more physical game. AT LAST !!!

It's another thing creating a team for the future.
Do you believe that now you are creating a NT for the future with all those young guys?
You know very well that if they will get a good contract in their NBA teams, then you will face the same problem. They will not want/ or be let, to play again in US NT.
And if you want to create a team you don't change the roster every year.
Any way.
You see basketball from a totally different point of view than us.
And no one said that this team of USA can't win the Championship. It is a very good team.

People actually prefer the NCAA and the Euroleague to the NBA because it's pure basketball. Dunking and driving on clear lanes is not basketball. Specially with defense just staring at the player who drives. I'd rather watch the Harlem Globetrotters
You seriously want this change in Europe as well? We don't have athletic players so it won't be as "fun"
I'd rather stick with basketball. Euroleague can find other ways to market the sport, without changing the rules. Only the arrows-jump ball thing should have changed imo. The rest of the changes are crap and will make fans lose interest in the long run

I believe that team USA was better in 2005-2008.
I can't understand why USA don't create a team with its best NBA players.
Is it because they don't care any more to be first in miscellaneous tournaments such as Olympic games and WC?
I can't believe that is true. Who doesn't want to be first? No one.
Here in Greece, and in the rest of the National teams, if one player don't want to play with his NT we conceder him as a traitor.
It is the ultimate honor for a player to play with his NT. So the same goes with Americans i think.
But most of times we see that American Players prefer not tο play with their NT.
The true is that most of times their NBA teams don't allow them because they are afraid of injuries.
How does the Americans see all this? How can you accept it? Would you prefer to have team USA with its best players?
You are the only NT which brings not their best. (Am not saying that those you have now are not good players. Of course they are.)
Dream team 1 & 2 only did it. Play with the best American players from NBA.
What happened since then?
I think you should keep the 2005 team play together for a few years as the rest NT do.
It is the best way to make a solid team.
I don't see this as an American thing, but an NBA thing. Many foreign NBAers also skip some of the tournaments too. The 82 game (plus playoffs) schedule is a lot, then ask to perform in these tournaments.
BTW IMHO, there is only one Dream Team, who was on it was what made it the "dream" the rest were just NBA players reppin' the U.S., except maybe the "Redeem Team" can keep their name.
