Syria 0-20 Lebanon

Syria withdrew because of insults to Syria from the Lebanese fans.

Syrian Federation President said : that we withdrew not make the problem bigger and he also said:that Syria's name is above all and more important than anything.

No offense but withdrawing only gives Syria a bad name, IMO. Certainly if the fans behave violently then it'd be quite reasonable to withdraw, but which home court crowd does not have a few hecklers throwing insults? Quitting should not happen in sports.

I just translated what was written in Syrian newspapers and sites.

All the players know that they will lose all the matches in the competition. As Syrian Federation President said :that we withdrew not make the problem bigger.Your fans started with Ah Ah Souriyaaa so we don't know what your fans are going to say during the match or at the end.

It's not our problem, FIBA-ASIA decided to do that.

this is your teams problem, they prefer to play not to withdraw but in Syria we can't accept to hear anything against our country.

ohhh , if they didn t hear this phrases in the court ,(Withdrawing) .. they heard them out of the stadiums and more and more ...

Just to end this topic

All Syria with the decision that taken by the federation and we will be with them if this happened again.

not fiba-asia's decision at all... its the Lebanese Federation's decision !!

Totally Agree!!....it wasnt even an insult ("Ah Ah Souriyya")!! its a tease sentence !!! afterall its our home court!!:D
the "AH AH" vocab is used in the Lebanese LEague between different teams !! the fans play their role by teasing the opposing team's players !! but if the team cannot handle such a pressure or home court crowd adrenaline or so...its their problem !!
what would you say then if players started the trash talk in the middle of the game ?!?!...would the other player stop playing and go cry like a baby to his coach and team-mates ?!

Hard Luck Syria, although u were one of the good teams in asia, i still think that u will develop a better team on a higher caliber on the long run !!
keep it up !! :)

Long Live Lebanon !!

Now i can understand why they wanted to withdraw from the tournament before it even started :D
On a serious note though i'm happy Syria participated in this tournament especially for the experience that many of these young players were able to get.

Most of these names don't deserve to play for the NT,we have many players who are better than these names and also young. We can't understand how our coach is thinking.
