7-foot center out of New Zealand impressed a lot of scout at 2011 Adidas Nation. For those who have seen him play, tell me more? :D

The head coach of the New Zealand Tall Blacks Nenad Vucinic originally wanted Adams to be with the squad for their overseas training but Adams turned down the offer due to academic preparations to join a US NCAA Team as well as to attend various basketball camps.

Lately, NBA scouts and college scouts have set their sights on Adams.

Really an intriguing prospect.

I think he already committed to Univ. of Pittsburgh...Solid Built for a young player...

Steven Adams has become the story of the adidas Nations camp.

Steven Adams / Photo: adidasSteven Adams / Photo: adidasHow good is the 7-foot center out of New Zealand? He has a real chance to be a "one-and-done" top-five pick in the 2013 draft. And if NBA scouts had been allowed to be in attendance this week at adidas Nations, the buzz around this kid would be out of control right now.

Adams has become the No. 1 international prospect out there and will be the top center prospect in college the minute he steps on the court at Pittsburgh. (Andre Drummond is considered a power forward and is also not likely to ever step foot on a college campus.)

An enormous coup for Jamie Dixon and Pitt, he's the type of talent that would instantly turn a number of solid NCAA squads into top-25 teams.

Adams has improved tremendously in the past year since I last saw him at the 2010 adidas Nations in Chicago

where is he playing?

where is he playing?

Has this kid found a home to play in the United states?

Check out some highlights from the Adidas Camp.

Hopefully he can do well in the NCAA and possible be a role player in the NBA if not, hopefully in Europe and assist in helping the Tall Blacks in the future.

Adams is part Tongan as is Jabari Parker, who is another prep-star (Source: JGX). Asi Taulava is Tongan too, right?

I read that Adams declined the Nike Hoops Summit invitations to address academics.

I will be watching Pitt games for next season. Steven Adams and Trey Zeigler will be a force to be reckoned with.

STUDIES BEFORE TALLBLACKS

NBA prospect Steve Adams has joined Kirk Penney and Thomas Abercrombie as a non-starter for next month’s Olympic-qualifying tournament in Venezuela.

While Penney and Abercrombie have been hobbled by injury, Adams is focusing on settling into life at the University of Pittsburgh, leaving the Tall Blacks seriously short of star power.

“They’ve got Alex Pledger but, with Kirk gone and Thomas gone now, I’m sure it’s very disappointing for the campaign,” said Adams’ mentor and coach, Kenny McFadden.

“I mean without a doubt he would have boosted the team. But he’s at summer school and the timing is not good.”

I managed to watch the replay of the Pittsburgh Blue-Gold game. Steven Adams seems very comfortable in not only scoring inside with either hands, he is developing post-passing skills.

A modest double double of 14 points and 11 rebounds for Adams, who went 7-13 on the floor.
