  • Thread starter Thread starter CKR132

Olympics and wbc should be the grand tournament for basketball..

In Asia should be the Asian Games..with schedule that would smack with the nba off season

Youngsters like Kim Jong-Kyu, Lee Jong-Hyun, Kim Min-Goo, Moon Seung-Gon and Choi Joon-Young find Jollibee very appetizing. Skinny guys like Min-Goo and Joon-Young sure can eat. Yang Dong-Geun is kill-joy, ordered from Pepper Steak-Lunch. Picture taken in Rockwell Powerplant Mall by Kim Seung-Hyun. :D

Glad they are liking Jollibee. And they also seem to like those coconut flavored drinks in the bottle

Yoo Jae-Hak with an interview with SBS-ESPN after the loss to the Philippines:

"They (Philippines) played better than us in the second half. They were making shot after shot and we lost our composure in the last three minutes."

Yoo said that they will give their all for their last game and a chance to make it to Spain.

Beautiful game that was. Each team was making big shot after big shot. that kim guy really was hurting us. we just had enough to win it in the end. young guys though for korea.

Props to Korea for this beautiful game.

So they value th pe Asian Games more than the Fiba Asia? Why is that so?

How important is the Asian Games to the Koreans? Well, Asian Games gold medalists will be exempted to enlist for the mandatory military tour of duty. FIBA continental titlists, i believe, are not exempted.

wow..i can't believe it..even with their football team going to world cup is lesser compared to winning in asian games?

Oh ok. Here its a little different the past few years, before we do value the Asian games more but with the Sbp taking over the fiba qualifiers to the Olympics and World cup has been the more important tourney.

Team had a full breakfast and later it is a light practice. Their last game for this trip. Next year for the Asian games, some of the veterans like Kim Joo-Sung and Lee Seung-Jun may no longer be with the team. They have an upcoming generation.

nice to see them still smiling. I guess they will have their revenge against another team. Iirc, Chot mentioned that he plans to play the FIBA ineligibles in the Asian Games. That was the time when he was mentioning about Jordan Clarkson and Stephen Holt.

Kim Min-Goo's performance is all over the papers in Korea. One commentator from SBS blurted Mr. Three and the name sticks for now. Korea finds itself a new hero and a building block for the future.

Kim has come a long way from being Mr. Slasher in Kyung-Hee. He is KBL ready now and is virtually a lock for the 2014 Asian games national team on which KBA plans to showcase its youth. 11 points per game in Manila off the bench.

That is good to hear. Philippines is also gearing up for 2015 FIBA Asia.

On Korea, Yoo Jae-Hak said that there was no shame in losing to the Philippines after the game and that lifted their spirits a bit.

Looking forward to the next FIBA Asia's and Asian Games, Korea's two promising bigmen-- Kim Jong Kyu and Lee Jeong Hyun, both talented, one is an athlete and one is a finesse player.

Their wingmen are also promising, lead by Min Goo and Sun Hyung.

Past two games highlights:

I assume they had a very good breakfast. That is at spiral at sofitel manila. Good food and resto to eat at. And good to see them in high spirits still. Hopefully they can get the job done against CT today. It would be a great experience for the young guys in this team to be able to play in the worlds.

Lee Seung-Jun was the first to yell "We're going to Spain!" As the clock signals the end. Congratulations to him and the South Korean team. They over-achieve given that even the federation expressed reservations for their chances in finishing the top three. Yoo Jae-Hak was even quoted that their chances was 50-50 and how happy he is from the post game interview to prove himself wrong.

As for the federation, the team delivered despite the sub-par preparations where the Jones Cup was their only real games heading into Manila. The team needs a bigger budget. But preparations and planning are underway for the 2014 Asian games.

Lee Seung-Jun's dream come true to finally play for Korea in the world cup. Their last was 1998 where Kim Joo-Sung was then the brightest prospect and he could suit up for one more run. I expect the team to get even younger.

Tomorrow, basketball gets a spotlight in the Korean press. Starting with Arirang TV tonight and Seoul TV Sports Weekend News.

Kim Min-Goo all over the papers again as well as the team getting some much needed recognition for punching a ticket to the world cup next year. For Kim, he follows on the long line for national team players who had established their reputation for FIBA Asia, even before being drafted in the KBL. Most recent was Oh Se-Keun back in 2009 and when he entered the league in 2011, he was already a built superstar.

Future holds bright for Min-Goo, who is surely included for the world cup and Asian games next year. When he enters the KBL, he will be battle ready.
