I remember first hearing about this cat on the playgrounds out in Takoma Park and EVERYONE was saying he was the next one. For the most part he held it down at Maryland and was a human highlight and he did his thing in Houston even making rookie of the year and making an all star game and seem to be flourishing under Rudy but it seems like money's career just went down hill when Van Gundy came to town. I thought when he got traded to Orlando he'd get back on point but naw. And I know it was a wing and a prayer but I wanted him to hold in down for the Knicks but of course that never happened. So what happened to dude? I've heard everything from he REALLY didn't love ball so when he got that big contract he stopped caring to once him and Cat (Cuttino Mobley - his best friend) got traded to separate teams he lost his love but what ya'll think? Here's some highlights of Steve dropping 44 pts, 11 assists and 6 rebounds on the lakers and some highlights of him playing street ball...

Used to love Wink when he was running with Houston.

When Francis re-signed with Houston in 2007-2008 season, I thought Francis would re-discover his game, but struggled with Adelman's offense. Chipped in with 5.5 ppg.

He had no heart. He relied too much on his insane talents. Sad to see a talented guy like him fall off the radar like that.

Bingo. When Yao came to town, Francis barely tried to accommodate. It's not that Francis wasn't smart enough, it just seemed like he didn't try. ...and yes, I think Van Gundy was a mistake as coach for all those players, as Kil implies.

the same thing that is going to happen to Brandon Jennings

His stats in CBA last season: 3 games 0.7ppg (25%FG) 1.0rpg 0apg 1.3TO/g
blocked a number of times
fell on the floor more times
DNPed even more times

In practice he was playing against Bai Di (like the 14th man of team) 1-on-1 and lost. It's befitting cuz Bai Di got even less minutes than him for the entire year.

Here's what (people suspect) happened to him

Man, does he have no pride? He used to be "Franchise". Just call it quits.

As a Yao fan, I do have some sort of resentment over him. Imagine if Yao played with someone like Kidd or Nash.

what happened to him? easy... all guards that rely mostly on physical attributes when it comes to their game will decline faster than the ones relying on fundamentals. Injuries only fasten up the process. Francis is just one of those, Dwayne Wade is next, while Steve Nash is still playing and delivering at his age eventhough you can see he is slowely declining.

This is why you have to develop your game further.

For example, J-Kidd developed a three point shot and look at him now - a champion.

Of course, it also helps that he never relied on athleticism in the first place. He's always relied on his court smarts and that can help you play at a high level even if you're already old.

So I was watching the D-league ASG on youtube, and during a commercial break, the commentators did not know their mic was on, so this is what I heard (@2:25:17 mark):

So I got interested at what they are talking about, apparently these photos were taken this weekend in Houston:

Well this was long suspected by Chinese media because in China he was showing some heroine-withdrawal symptoms such as tears over his face. And yawning nonstop for days.

Steve Francis was certainly a very talented player, I understand he relied quite a bit on his athleticism in the NBA but there was no other explanation that he couldn't even score more than 2 pts in 6-7 games in China at the age of 33. I dare even say he was the worst import of all time in China. Whatever the reason was, really hope he can turn his life around. Maybe he's doing fine now, we're just gossiping here.
