It was not a ref mistake, it was a ref decision.

I blame them cuz there was not same criterion trials.
There is no sense that team witch hunting opponents 37 minutes don't get out of bonus for 37 minutes.
It s not normal to give that Turks replace Asik
It s not normal that they call 5th Krstic foul
It s not normal that they don't call foul on Velickovic at the end.
But..anyway..I wont cry cuz this happened.I just hope that our boys will use this 4 motivation in next tournaments.

Anyone that watched the game won't say that Turkey deserved to win and we all saw the obvious help from reff's...Whenever Serbia had 7-8 pts advantage,there were always fouls and FT's ofc,so Turk's can be back in a game...But nvm now...Turk's should be happy for their win,but shouldn't be proud of the way they got it...and we (Serbs),have the right to be mad but we have the youngest team on tournament and we should be proud on our boys cause they play beautiful basketball and it's a pleasure to watch them play...So, our time is coming along with Lithuania.They impressed me tbh...

Oh and btw Ivkovic said that we should be at our best in 2012,so lets see

I have written nothing in this thread but I read most comments.
I pretty much aggree with the guy above.
What pisses people off is not the fact that turkey was favoured (in teh whole tournament mind you, but the semifinal was the most obvious because the game was so close). This is to be expected up to some point being the host.
What pisses them is the flow of Turks that joined the forum trying to convince us all that we are blind and nothing happenned, and that Turkey is suddenly the second best team in the world.

It would be more honest for Turks to say : "yes we were crearly favoured, but at least we get such treatment once a decade, accept it like we accept the several times YOU get favoured (without this meaning you don't also have a better team, but that's irrelevant) during the decade".

I think this would be very acceptable by the crowd here. Instead, if you look at the past 20 pages you see 95% of Turks saying they were not favoured at all, some even go to extremes saying they were even butchered! lol. And then when some hard facts arise like that last video, they change the attitude to "come on....it's over, get over it stop whining for god's sake....doesn't matter how it happenned, it did, we are silver medalists!"

as i said.we got help from refs.as a host nation.if it would be in serbia or greece they would gonna get help.it is normal for hosts to get some favour.as i say we got favoured as every host nation got.that is all.but not as u exxagarate.

It is not some help. Last play, Serbia leads, you score a basket that should NOT count, and the ref is right in front of tuncheri and can see why clearly.

That is not "some" help. That is a decision of who will go to the finals, and the decision is made by the ref. Let me tell you, no ref should ever decide the final's teams.

So, ok you made it to the finals. I am not one who says you paid the refs, that's just ridiculous. But you wouldnt be in the finals without him. It was an out of bounds call clear and simple.

Your team is a great team, and I never went out and say that in Greece - Turkey refs decided anything. There is almost never 50-50 ref'ing. You would have won that game anyway because you played better, simple as that.

But the semi-final is a different story. And a very sad story for anyone who loves this game.

Look at the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup of football. Both hosts get their best record in World Cup. But none of them have got more respect because of that result, although they did play quite well.

Korea qualified from the group in South Africa, proving their ability to play against better teams without help of referee. This is the thing people respect.

About the act of the guy which name is not worth even to mention, and the reactions of your bench through the game deserved at lest one technical foul.

In '95. we won Lithuania fair, first in the group stage, than in the finals. Djordjevic absolutely destroyed them(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHl8vAhfE_M), and they behave the way they did because that was one of the last chances of that Lithuanian great generation to win a gold for Lithuania, not SSSR. They just can't admit that, but our generation was better than theirs and we won 2 times in that Euro and 1 in a SF Ol OI 1996., every time with Sabonis in their squad.

About 2002., refs did made a bad decision which could change the outcome because that was a foul in last attack, but refs were not on our side through the game, they were at least neutral, and they even admitted that there was
some decisions, bad calls in the game in favor for Argentina through the game. So yes, refs were wrong in our favor in 2002. in that last attack, and if they weren't that would probably bring Argentina a gold, but no, refs didn't help us through the game, not even close like Turkey had help in this SF. And to add, 90% of refs don't call a foul in last sec, if the score is tied, and the foul is not that obvious like Kus pushing Rasic with both hands.

If we had fair refs, we would have finished 10 points better than Turkey. Turkey lost to USA, was worse than Serbia, didn't play Lithuania, Spain and Argentina, had home advantage, crowd and refs. So you may jump from joy, because this will not repeat any time soon, Turkoglu is soon retiring, and that live you with only Illyasova, the rest are pretty much mediocre players. At least in 2001. you have much stronger generation who deserved that silver.

many peaople like you are criticising Turkey's silver medal here as if they don't deserve it, as if we appeared suddenly on the basketball world. but as we live in Turkey we know much much better what's happening here about the basketball developments and investments so for us it's kind of we have been expecting this success for years. someone wrote in this thread that, "you have only Hedo and Ilyasova, hedo is gonna be retired soon, so you will be nothing etc" even from this comment you can easily understand that most comments from outside of Turkey are negative while there is Fact that Turkey astually get a silver medal! that's what upset us. otherwise in many comments of mine you can see many times how much I appreciated the team of Greece, Slovenia and Spain..

I'm not blaming someone, and in my opinion sure Greece does not need that shit but somehow they lost vs Russia, i was at the game with the Greek fans. and one of the Greek fan told me they better lost the game to avoid Spain as everybody knows, i guess except you ha?
