Iran without Haddadi and Samad Nikkhah and Arsalan Kazemi was beating China in the Asian Games SF last year in Guangzhou and only officiating turned things around in the final minutes.

So i don't see it that way.

its not done in a regular basis, is it?
im not saying without haddadi iran is a first rounder... iran is good... but without haddadi they wouldnt be one of the 2 favorites to win asia for the years to come...eveything else is gravy (lebanon, jordan, korea) but credit goes to iran for creating a monster in haddadi.

so spain isnt really good, its just that the serbians/balkans regressed... iran isnt really good, its just that china and korea regressed...

i can see you care a lot with the RP team based on your posts

What I meant is....This year, RP has the opportunity to secure the best placing in probably past 20 years, this is all bc Jordan, Qatar, and even Lebanon are not the same like before. What does this have anything to do with the Spain winning their title? France did not regress? Other euro teams don't have "import" problem, what's the relevance?

I care about Asian bb in general, not just RP team, look at my posts from before, I bashed your team a lot due to the ignorantly arrogance that most of the RP fans had, but they have learned to face the harsh reality, except for a still ignorant few. :D

Congratulations....
wish u all the best in the semis !! ;) i can feel that after a long period of time all y'all pinoys have been waiting, you will reach the semis this year ! :)

Good Luck for your NT!

Long Live Lebanon !! (Except All the Politicians!!)

On the same token, the reason why West Asian teams were quite successful the past decade or so is because traditional powerhouses Japan, Korea and Phil regressed and were in hibernation. Now that they have awaken, the world order is now back to normal.

Yes to what you said, and their seccess came easy, and the bubble burst this year, poked by FIBA:D

im just sooooooooooooooooooooo gladdddddddddddddddd barocca didnt play again after being subbed in the 1st quarter....... soooooooooooooo gladdddd.......

alapag and casio should play more... barocca is a clown - cant make open shots, cant finish around the basket, turns the ball even when there's no traffic and moreso in traffic and fouls opposing guards 70 feet away from the basket... he's in reality a 3rd string PG in this team yet he's starting... a turnover machine shouldnt be a pointguard.... nice job coach toroman!

you noticed that too. he should change his gameplay though

and why would you assume that Jordan's, qatar's and lebanon's teams fortune wouldnt change? talents come and go... if lebanon cant find an heir to el-khatib its not another team's fault... if no other young jordanian prospect can follow dahgles footsteps its not an improving team's fault... talents come and go such is the fate of their teams... ask serbia... and if you cant get the spain-serbia analogy its not my fault...

and lastly, why are you so proud on bashing the arrogants and the ignorants in this forum? only an ignorant will be affected by another ignorant's posts... if its nonsensical it shouldnt affect you in the first place...

During the game between china and RP, when national anthems of each teams were performed, all the players from both teams put their hands to where their heart is, except for that "import" from RP, he placed his arms down almost like putting his hands in the pocket. Yao Ming being the commentator of that game for CCTV5 said: some players place their country in their heart, the others puts it in the pocket.

To be called the "power house" in any sports, you need a well rounded program that includes scouting/training of young prospect to long term program (maybe in form of professional league) supported and sponsored by the government and private corporations. "Talents come and go " only means insufficiency of the program.

but douthit played for the country despite hurting with an injury against jordan... and he'll do that again tomorrow against japan... risking his career for the country... one action should not define the whole person... he may have lapses (anthem thing) but who doesnt have? dont you have? i see yao is very nationalistic with that comment, good for him and china.

yeah i was peeved off at douthit too for that.. him being a naturalized player and all..but the sad fact is the rp team needs him and its legal after all as per FIBA rules...

The philippines couldn't consistently produce a decent big man taller than 6'6'-6'7". thus the need for a naturalized center...Now what Yao ming said was true..but then its easier for him to say that since china have no problem producing overgrown giants..

If lebanon, jordan and qatar have naturalized players..countries which can produce big men..then so can the philippines who has a hard time filling that center hole in the middle

i believe talents are born... the programs only hone them... programs alone cant create a dirk nowitzki, a magic johnson, a lebron james... now el-khatib and daghles are not on par with them, but you get what i mean...

Yeah, I didn't like that either. But credit Douthit for playing hurt today.

It reminds of a contrast in attitudes. Norman Black, an American who used to play in the NBA and was coaching the 1994 Philippine Team which finished third or fourth in the Asian Games that year was asked by the foreign media how he felt because the odds were stacked against the Philippines that year. (Which was weird because in the Asian games prior to that, we won the Silver)

Black grumpily snapped at them and said "WE ARE FILIPINOS. WE DON'T BACK DOWN." It was an emotional response but it showed his heart was with the Philippines.

He has NEVER bragged about it but I remember that article vividly.

So he may not look like a traditional Filipino, but man, he has more pride than some of the locals and fil-ams we have playing in the PBA.

Yao Ming doesn't need to look very far for pay-for-play athletes. A lot of mainland chinese are playing various sports for countries like Singapore. Look who's talking!

hahah jordan win vs philippines? what?! ...

I think there is a misunderstanding here, when Yao said that there was no tone of humiliation or sarcasm, he was simply stating what he saw, and the fact is, these newly naturalized players patriotism is indeed questionable and anybody who is newly naturalized would have such problem! using players like these is a choice, and if the benefit outweighs it all, be my guest.

With regards to Singapore or any other countries hiring mainlander as mercenaries, as long as you are the giver and not the taker, you should even be proud of it. :D

Iran without Haddadi and NIkkah and Arsalan will not win against Philippines

there are a lot of pinoys (locals) who doesn't put their hands on the heart while singing the national anthem..don't single out one person who time and again played like a local, bond with the locals as brothers..

MGA KAPWA KONG PINOY, CHILLAX!
(My fellow Pinoys, take a chill pill!)

Nakakahiya na yung iba sa atin dito. Nakakakita ng malisya sa wala.
(I am ashamed of some of the posts by my countrymen. They find malice where there is none!)

Statements like the ones Yao Ming said about Naturalized players and some of the posts here are NOT insults. They are VERY CORRECT observations that don't mean to DEMEAN the Philippines. DON'T TAKE IT NEGATIVELY UNLESS YOU'RE SURE.

Here's a tip, before posting. Count one to 10. And look at the post again.
IT MIGHT NOT BE AN INSULT.

REMEMBER THAT FOR MOST OF US IN THESE THREADS (our Asian neighbors, some of our countrymen) ENGLISH IS NOT THE FIRST LANGUAGE.
Hell, even some of us here claiming to know how to speak English submit posts rife with grammatical snafus that betray their limited fluency.

SO THE PERSON MIGHT NOT BE SAYING ANYTHING BAD OR HURTFUL AT ALL. It may be lost in translation, or we may be too high strung about it.

PLEASE ACT LIKE DECENT FILIPINOS AND THINK BEFORE POSTING.

For example, I am amazed that most Filipinos are taking the Jordan protest as an insult when it is the RIGHT of every team to do so. Because while WE did nothing wrong. FIBA ASIA messed up by informing the teams that Lutz and Lassiter couldn't play yet. And midway through the game, it was overturned. Essentially, our line-up changed in the middle of the game. To the letter of the law, that is unfair to Jordan. However, the context of what transpired over the last week makes it different in that FIBA ASIA screwed up by not letting the two play. Still, I won't blame Jordan for protesting. THink about it, we would be doing the same if it were the other way around.

Me, I'm GLAD they let Lassiter and Lutz play. I don't think Jordan's protest will affect the outcome but they do deserve an apology from FIBA ASIA (As do we) for the screw up.

SA MADALING SALITA. HUWAG BALAT SIBUYAS. KONTING DECORUM NAMAN DIYAN. NAG MUMUKHANG SKWATING TAYO NG BOARDS EH. Please take it easy. Being hurt does not give us the right to hurt others who don't deserve it. And if there are trolls from other nations...IGNORE THEM. Even their own countrymen don't bother with their stupid comments, why should you?

BASICALLY, TRY A LITTLE UNDERSTANDING.

Thanks.

the fact is, these newly naturalized players patriotism is indeed questionable and anybody who is newly naturalized would have such problem!

patriotism doesnt grow overnight... we dont have any problem with that fact... why would you and yao ming have?

the phils is just more liberal and democratic than china... you can be what you are here...
